“It’s another peaceful day…

  I really can’t complain about this and to be honest, I’m not either, just making a small remark of the current situation that is today. This small cute girl over here however, she’s eager to do something. She’s bored as she’s been saying lately. I mean, I can understand after all, she’s a Demon Lord that likes to show off to others just how strong she is… No, maybe it’s more correct to say that she’s a Demon Lord that needs constant attention. You know, just like a child would. She’s far older than I am but, if I was going to translate her looks and personality into age, I would say that she should be between 12-14 years old. Not a child but neither an adult, a teenager in other words. Though, I do have to admit, she’s pretty smart and when things get serious, she can be rather “philosophical”. Maybe she really is an adult after all but, trauma makes her act in this manner.

  Hey, isn’t that a good thing? You know well that it took a lot of work to create this place and wouldn’t you say that being quiet is better than being louder? The other day you were complaining that the capital was extremely loud.

  Humph! That was supposed to be a capital!? That small puny city doesn’t compare to your city and its greatness! Just the fact that it’s my BFF city, that alone makes it the best! Of course, I love this place and how quiet it is but… I have nothing to do…

  Well, here it is the reason for her boredom although, there is a lot she could do around here. And I mean that. The opposite of her, I’m quite the busy slime as I’m the ruler of this city however, right now we are taking a simple stroll around the streets. I’m not running away from my duties, never would I do such a despicable thing after all, I’m quite the respectable slime. I’m just taking a simple break with my BFF here, yep, nothing more nothing less. Though, I also deserve some relaxing time after all, I do work a lot. I also mean that. Not only that, it hasn’t been a month since this little Demon Lord over here fooled me beyond anything in this world, I legit was worried about her and she was faking everything… Seriously, she goes from pouting her cute cheeks from how bored she is, to a top-notch actress that can fool everyone around her. Though, if I don’t do anything about her boredom, it will not end well for some poor soul around here. And I yet again, mean this as she will probably start a small tournament so that she can kill some time. Of course, she’s participating in it, duh. There wouldn’t be any problem and in fact, that does seem like a good idea as it would incentivize the citizens but mainly the army to get stronger as competition does drive us to reach great heights. No, the biggest problem is that my BFF will destroy part of the city because she couldn’t hold back, yep, got too excited and then bam! Half of the city is gone.

  You know there is a lot to be done around here, right? Surely you could find something to do. Ah, for example, how about helping out those orcs building that house over there? Or maybe you can protect those merchants as they seem to need a bodyguard. In that sense you would be the best-

  If I did that, I wouldn’t be here with you! And, I don’t want to help out by building a house… That’s boring and easy. I could probably use magic to build you a house so, no need for me to use my hands like those orcs. I want to do something with you instead…

  Ah, there it is, what she truly wants. Though, she did say something quite amazing like it was nothing. How the hell do you build a whole house with magic alone? Maybe she’s talking about some sort of gravity magic? She moves around the materials with it and then… Then what? How is she going to hammer the nails? Putting cement on the bricks? No seriously, how would she do it? Ah crap, now she has “forced” me to think about it… Whatever, it would be much easier if she could speak her damn mind to me instead of doing these types of charades but oh well, what do you expect from a Demon Lord that has lived for a whole millennium? Yeah, what would you expect? Even I, can’t figure her out…

  Sigh! If you want to spend time with me you can say it, there is no need for all of that.

  You are always so occupied with the ruler’s duties that I simply can’t find the time to talk to you, let alone ask you to do something with me...

  Am I really that busy? I mean-ahem! Of course, I am, after all, I’m the ruler of this city. Well, well, maybe I really have been a little too focused on work that I have been neglecting my BFF. I can’t have that now, can I? Not only I don’t want that, as even for all the problems she has given me, and mind you that’s a lot of them, she still is my BFF so, I really care about her. The other thing is that she has the tendency to destroy when she’s bored soooo, another no go, especially in my town. Yeah, it will be nice to spend some time with her, just the two of us in fact. If that’s possible, although with her… Hmm, that might actually be possible, I just need her to put on a scary face and no one will dare to come close to her and consequently, me. I do mean that as even I, a Demon Lord mind you, I wouldn’t dare to come close to her in the case she was making such a face. She’s really scary when she’s mad and she has the power to back it up in the case someone messes with her.

  I’m sorry about that. You know well that after what happened last month, we have been extremely busy but that’s no excuse for me to ignore my BFF. I’m sorry. I will try my best to find an opening in my schedule so that we can spend time together.

  I know all of that… Don’t apologise for being the best ruler. But, can you promise that?

  A simple answer for my part but with it, the smile that grew on her face completely and utterly sealed my fate as after this, I will have to make it real or in other words, I can’t possibly fall back on my promise. I wouldn’t do it either way but now, I really can’t. I have to make it a reality even if it kills me.”

  “This seems to be quite nice but, it’s odd for a story to start like this, no? I’m missing a lot of information about these characters, the world, everything really…”

  Ah, wait a second, this is the 8th volume, not the first one. I do wonder, where are the other seven volumes… Here she has the following two but the other ones are nowhere to be seen. Maybe she left that series in “his” house so that he can read it in case he gets bored? I actually don’t have a clue what type of books there are, so this is a mere speculation. There is no point in me reading a novel if I can’t start from the first volume so, let’s see another one then. This one, I do think I remember seeing the cover of the first volume and from what I also seem to remember, there were only two rather than the three that are now present. Now, this one seems to be rather odd in a sense that it’s about a doctor that takes care of several types of patients. What I mean by this is that he’s a doctor specific for “monsters” and animals, ones that have a humanoid form to them. He has an assistant with him, one that is a snake lady with rather big “assets”... Hmm, this seems to be a little, uhm… How can I say it… Sexual? It does not have any scenes like that but, some of his examinations seem to be rather explicit. Not the description of what he’s doing to his patients itself, in that sense they all seem to be “simple”. No, it’s more so when he starts to describe how his patients look like, their features and so on. Here’s an example-

  “She says that she’s feeling an excruciating pain all around her body though that’s not the end of her symptoms. It seems a mild headache happens from time to time, one that from what she said, happens randomly with no signs of cause whatsoever. But what seems to bother her the most is the fact that, when she’s taking a shower, when she’s rubbing herself to clean her body, part of her skin seems to fall, leaving a red “mark” in her skin when that happens.

  Well, from these symptoms alone I already have an idea of what’s happening to her but, I still have to make sure of it.   This is fascinating… Since she has humans’ traits, she has all of the teeth a normal human should have but in her case, the vast majority of them seem to be some sort of canine. Us humans, we have a mix between herbivores and carnivorous teeth since we eat basically any type of food but in her case, I would guess that she mainly only eats meat. However, her tongue does seem to be slightly bigger than normal, actually, make it vastly bigger as I can see that it can stretch by quite a bit. As gently as I could I grabbed it, pulling towards me until I noticed that it could no longer go, at least without harming her. It was for roughly a whole meter, quite amazing, no? Either way, from how moisturized it is, I doubt it’s a stomach problem as the acid of the stomach could and will affect the tongue, making the skin of it becoming gritty, something that is not happening right now. Well, that’s good to know, as gently as I can, I slowly put her tongue back to her mouth.

  She nods at me with agreement however, I can see that she’s a little nervous about what I will be doing. It won’t be anything special but I can understand why she’s feeling in such a way. I grab a small lantern, the idea behind this is so that I can see any type of irregularities in her eyes. Your body has several ways to tell you that something is wrong and both your mouth and eyes, they are a good way to understand what he’s trying to say. I do have to get closer to her, so hang in there. Though, her eyes really are eye-catching and beautiful. They don’t have that characteristic shape as the eyes of a snake have for example but neither they are the same as us, humans. No, they truly resemble the eyes of a lizard instead. Well, more so the pupils of the eyes as the rest of them do have similar shape to a human eye. The pupils are extremely round, a perfect circle I would say and slightly smaller than what a human has. Anyway, with the lantern directed at a single eye, it will allow me to see if there’s something wrong with them but, with a quick view of both, I’m unable to find anything. A good conclusion to reach I would say.

  I mean, I can understand the logic behind what she did as it will allow me to have a clear view and therefore understanding of what’s wrong with her skin but, why did she strip the upper half of her body? I was focused on something else that I didn’t notice her doing, the moment I turned around she was already like this. She seems extremely bothered by it so, let’s get this over with as I don’t want my patient to feel this uncomfortable.

  I wasn’t able to understand what she said at the end as she quieted down quite a bit. Also, she seems to be getting reddish in her cheeks, maybe she’s having that mild headache she talked about? I will check her temperature later yet again, for now, let’s see what we have here.

  Her skin really is so much different from what I have, well, humans in general. She has half of her skin with the same characteristics as a human while the other half is the same one as what a reptile has. What is so surprisingly is where said half is where. Around her belly up to her breasts the skin is the “normal” skin type. Her chest however, the skin changes to that of a reptile only to change yet again once it reaches roughly half of her neck, being that the entirety of her face has the skin of a human. Going around the back, the skin is the reptile one but once it reaches the lower half of her back, it slowly starts to transition to the human skin. Her shoulders and arms also have the reptile skin but yet again, once it reaches her wrists, a slow transition starts to happen as she does have human hands. Yes, her nails are beyond long and sharp but, the shape of the hands are quite comparable to ones from a normal human.

  Ahhh…

  The touch is, as expected… The human skin is smooth to the touch, extremely so at that in fact, I’m quite amazed as she does not seem to take care of it in the same way as “we” do. What I mean is that, I can’t see any type of vestiges of a moisturised cream for example, let alone any other type of creams. It’s not impossible for us to have good skin as simply having a healthy diet and hygiene has been proved to be enough to sustain a good skin until your very last day. Once my fingers touch the reptile skin then, you can feel the harshness of it, much more than normal I would add. I can feel that it’s much drier than normal, helping out with my early assessment of her condition because of it. In fact, in the right lighting, I can notice that the colour of it seems to lose saturation, rather than being a vibrant green with a dark shade instead, seems to lose that vibrant colour getting closer to a grey colour instead. She’s not going through anything dramatic and drastic but that does not invalidate her condition at all, let alone what she’s feeling. Just a normal condition that happens from time to time or more so from decades to decades. She’s just shedding her skin and that’s why she’s feeling such symptoms. Something extremely normal for reptiles and being half of one, it’s normal she would “suffer” the same as them. Though in their cases, this process happens in a time span of a couple months being that, the younger ones are a little bit sooner having a time of weeks between each shed. In her case and those that are the same race as her, it first happens when they are 5 years old, then 10 years old and from there, a decade later until they die. She seems to be around 20 years old meaning that this is not the first time it has happened however, I can understand why she is unaware of this process as unfortunately, “reptile humanoids” don’t have the tendency to check the doctors very often or it’s more correct to say that, not many doctors want to treat them. Sigh, I wish this wasn’t-wait a second, is that what I think it is? On her left nipple there seems to be something loose on it, vaguely dancing around as she gently moved her body thanks to her breathing, something that has a whitish colour to it… I never thought that a nipple is able to shed skin but, that’s something to take note of, I guess.

  I really wasn’t expecting for her human skin to also shed skin but that can easily explain why it has a gentle shade of red to it. However, I can say the same thing to what happened to that nipple after I touched it, as it did gain a little bit of size to it. Oh wait, now that I’m saying this, the other one also seems to have gained a little bit of size. Hmm, can’t say that I was expecting it to happen but, maybe there’s only a need to stimulate one of them and the other one will also feel the effect? Since it’s a more psychological phenomenon I wouldn’t doubt it but, why am I thinking about this now? I have found what her problem is, so there is no need for me to keep examining her.

  Anyway, I have found what’s wrong with you. You are simply shedding your skin, that’s why from time to time you feel that mild headache not only that, the reason for why your skin gets a little redder after taking a shower but mainly after rubbing it.

  Is that so? I did shed my skin a few good years ago however, I don’t remember it being this painful…

  It’s normal, the last time you shed your skin you probably were around 10 years old. That’s roughly a decade ago, no? A lot happens in that time spam.
