(180)Chapter 3.4 – Miranda’s Small Problem. (Part 3)

“This does sound interesting... As expected from my Empress, she really has good taste. Though, what about the other ones?”

She has five books for this novel, 1/3rd of the total. Quite a little bit but, it seems she only acquired two more compared to the last time as I do remember the cover of the second volume. The next one is about another boy well, he seems to be around 16 years old or so as he was a high school student so I don’t know if I can consider him to be a boy or more so a teenager. Whatever the case, this one died and reincarnated into a different world. He was hit by a vehicle, killing him in the spot. However, in his previous life he seemed to be desperate for strength as he viewed himself to be weak even though compared to many, he was already far stronger than them. He also seemed to be a vigilant of some sorts but I don’t know, I can only get so much information from this quick read. Though I can say that in his previous life he didn’t have any magic whatsoever, something that is no longer correct in his new world. He gets stronger rather quickly but with a single purpose in mind. To get even stronger, to be the strongest of them all. Hmm, that does not seem to be correct, I think there is a line somewhere where it explains his motives…

“It seems I’m close to reaching the limit of the human body…

Well, I still have a few things left to learn, left to explore and of course getting good at. However, a normal human body can only handle so much, can only do so much as it is limited by its own physical limits, ones that unfortunately, are unable to be pushed forward by natural means. You can only stretch your arm as far as your bones allow it, even though your muscles could potentially adapt for a further “stretch”. If the total length of the bones of your arm is let’s say 1.2 meters, it’s physically impossible for you to stretch your arm past that point at least, without moving the rest of your body forward but even then, your arm will always have a length of 1.2 meters. Though, this is not the only limit of it.

If I had a way to modify my body…

With normal training I can only get so much stronger, even if I wish or and pray for it, I will never be able to make a hole in the concrete. My bones are not sturdy enough to sustain such impact, let alone be able to physically produce such force that will cause such a hole in the concrete. There are ways to make your bones stronger and one of them is to slowly damage them over a long, long period of time, allowing it to regenerate from said damage while also slowly getting harder and harder as a way to prevent the same damage from happening again. While extremely improbable, with this technique I could prevent the bones of my hand from getting shattered once I hit the hard concrete but even then, I wouldn’t be able to make said hole. The muscles of my arm, for them to grow and get stronger I first need to damage them, bring them to the very breaking point and then allow them to regrow afterwards. In a sense, it’s the same way with the bones but the muscles are much faster as they are “made” for such or more so they are prepared for such.

It’s rather odd how the human body works, wouldn’t it be better to be like this right from the beginning?

However, they will only grow until a certain point and of course their strength is the same, that is if I don’t use any type of substance to circumvent this limit. With a lot of training, I could probably lift up roughly 350kg but for me to achieve this, I would lose any type of mobility as the muscles would grow far more than the human body is prepared for, at least normally. If technology was there, I could use some type of mechanical arm to boost my overall strength but even then, I still would be limited by how much that mechanical arm can do. For example, if it’s made of wood, aluminium or steel, three different materials on which all of them have different “strength” to them. Wood can only handle so much force before it snaps, the same can be said about aluminium and in this case, I think it might be weaker than wood as it can bend much easier than wood can snap while steel, it’s the material that should handle the most force. But, even with a mechanical arm made of pure steel, could I lift up a tank? A vehicle whose height should reach the 50 tons or maybe even more? What about everything else that weighs more than a tank such as a commercial plane?

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

If I had a way to circumvent these physical limits…

But even if I get extremely strong, how about my defence? Even with all of these limitations of mine, I’m still able to defeat close to 99% of the population of the world and if I wanted to focus on a single skill, I would be able to make it to 100%. Though… if we exclude children and extremely old people, 100% of that population could easily kill me as they don’t necessarily need to be on my skill level or strength to be able to end my life. They just need a gun for example. What can I do to prevent this? The human body cannot defend itself against a bullet from a gun but, I can survive getting shot however, it will still happen as the body cannot prevent such from happening. If I use a bullet proof vest, it can prevent the majority of bullets from entering my body but, that’s not all of them. The strongest bullet proof vests can stop bullets up to 7.62x51mm, give it or take however, if I get shoot by a bullet whose dimensions are somewhat superior by that, such as 8.58×70mm for example, the vest won’t be able to stop said bullet, allowing it to penetrate and with it, well, ending my life if hit in the correct spot per say. Now imagine something as simple as tank ammunition. I would get blown into bits without a way to prevent it.

If I had a way to fully stop a round from a tank…

The human body really is that fragile compared to what technology can create. What I mean is that, just see a video of what a tank can accomplish for example, even one from the second world war. Yet, there are ways to blow a human into several bits without needing something as expensive as a whole tank. A simple bomb would and will achieve the same and in this case, a bullet proof vest won’t protect you much. A frag grenade, one that blows a meter or so from you is enough to kill you and mind you, this frag grenade is much smaller than a ball that you use to play football. Now grab a simple bomb, increase its size by several times, increasing the weight with it, and of course explosive material and now, you have something in your hands that could blow a five-story building into bits. Keep on increasing its size, weight and explosive material and what you will be able to achieve is rather frightening. What can a human do about it? I cannot fly into the air, grabbing the bomb and sending backwards towards whoever was far too eager to end the lives of several thousand if not millions of people. I cannot “tank” the explosion from the bomb, preventing it from destroying anything on its path. There really isn’t anything that I can do about it, even escaping it is not an option. Yes, if it was for example, a Nuclear Bomb, there really isn’t anything on this world that can survive such a catastrophe, let alone a mere human do anything about it.

  I hate that.

I hate these limitations that this world has created for me. Our intelligence seems to have no end, everything that you see was thought and then created by a human. Everything. Yet, we are this fragile mammal that can die from a simple punch in the neck. There must be something out here that can help me surpass these limits… But what? In fantasy for example, some worlds have by default humans that are far stronger than what we are, ones with a limit that seems to know no end, just like our intelligence. Some of the worlds have something that defines logic and physics themselves, allowing those humans to achieve things that we can only imagine. Yes, if I had it, I could create a barrier that could stop an 8.58×70mm bullet. Then, I could strengthen it to a point that could withstand getting shot at by a tank, one whose cannon is close to 120mm for example. How about going even further and strengthening the barrier until a point that can withstand a modern bomb?

I want to be able to survive a Nuclear Bomb but also have enough power to cause the same destruction as one.

Yes, this does not sound bad at all and if I had magic, I could do it.”

  ……..

  ……

  …

“What is a Nuclear Bomb? Does that even exist in the real world? Is it a spell?”

I have no clue what he’s referring to, I really don’t. Seems to be some sort of man-made bomb, one that has a tremendous amount of destructive power to it but nothing more about it. This novel, she has three books, though it seems she has not finished reading the last one as there is a bookmark around the first half of the book. It does not seem to be bad at all, so I doubt she got bored of it. Maybe she didn’t have time to finish or something came up while she was doing so? Whatever the reason might have been, I don’t remember seeing any of the covers from this novel. There is another one here that I do remember the cover but, in this case, she didn’t acquire more. Why’s that the case? It seems to be about a slime of some sorts? He seems to be the ruler of quite the nation, he’s surrounded by several monsters, different races and strengths but they do seem to be living in a harmonious way. Quite the impossible state in the real world.
