“(What a bunch of disgusting pieces of trash. Rather than understanding what they did wrong, they instead shift the blame towards Kiana. Fret not Kiana, if any of them tries to do something I will make them regret. I won’t let any of them lay their filthy hands on you.)”
Her eyes are cold as she stares down at the students as they leave, as some of them look at Kiana with their ugly eyes, as some talk to each other about Kiana with their disgusting mouths. Myra's face, although beautiful, you can easily see the anger on it towards them. What a bunch of spoiled people, they were trying to impress Myra only to accomplish the complete and utterly opposite. That’s what happens when you act in such a spoiled way, when you think that you are better than others just because they are from lower status.
“Hum, thank you Myra, if it wasn’t for your help I would’ve failed. However, what now? You did help me out, but can we still be friends?”
There is a reason why Myra has gained such interest or affinity towards Kiana. Her innocent reaction, her pleasing face that she has, her naive way of thinking and her genuine emotions makes anyone want to be her friend. With a soft smile on her face and with a happy look on her eyes, she thanks Myra for the help. She can easily recognize her shortcomings just as she did with the test when she admitted that she couldn’t do it by herself, but at the same she can easily ask for help. These are qualities that a normal human being should have, let alone someone that wants to be a damn merchant or part of the business world.
Kiana thanks Myra as we just see it, however this leaves her and the teacher somewhat speechless as they truly have never encountered someone like her, someone this honest, kind and genuine. The business industry or I should say, the merchant job, is often misunderstood, as it is seen to be an “easy” job, one that can make you rich and the owner of everything you can think of. But reality is the complete opposite of it, the truth quickly sets in the moment an individual sets foot on this field. Backstabbing, deception and even taking advantage of your own damn family are something that a merchant has to be ready to do, so that he can accomplish something out there. Some of them are professionals at doing these heinous acts as they believe profits are more important than anything else. Even if they don’t end up doing, someone else will do to them. Here in this field, everything negative that a human being has, it’s quickly exposed to the world. Anyone that wishes to be part of it, he needs to be more than prepared for it, otherwise he only will be eaten alive and with him, everything he has. However, at the same time, for a merchant to accomplish anything he needs the help of others. A massive contradiction wouldn’t you think?
Myra- Of course what I said still stands. However, you’re down playing yourself a little bit too much. What you did is more than what a complete beginner should be able to do and just like sensei here, he never wanted for anyone to complete the test by themselves but rather work together for it. This batch of students have failed to see that and unfortunately for them, they also lacked the experience and knowledge to complete it by themselves.
Merchant Teacher- That is correct Miss Roosevelt, I’ve never intended for anyone to pass this test by themselves. Miss Eris, I don’t want to offend you but, just by looking at your innocent face I didn’t think you had it on you. Just another one to fail I thought to myself. I happened to see you with Miss Roosevelt and I didn’t think much of it, but what you showed me has changed my mind. The moment that you admitted that you couldn’t do it was already something that surprised me, but the fact that you noticed that you could “ask for help” and you did so, that alone has shown me that you have great potential.
Kiana- Really? I still don’t think I did anything special… I still wasn’t able to solve it by myself, so I really don’t understand the surprise. When you need help, you should ask for it, no?
Merchant Teacher- You are not wrong, not wrong at all Miss Eris. However, you’re seeing this only from your perspective. You have to understand that both of us have been in this field for years, and I, as a teacher, for much longer than her, a decade ahead of her even. You will be surprised by how the students simply refuse to work together. It’s unbelievable, their pride, their ego, they make that simple concept impossible, they make cooperation a foreign concept even and one that never should be attempted at. I can’t have people like that in my class, let alone next to Miss Roosevelt.
Myra- In this field of work, doing something by yourself is close to a death sentence. You can only do so much by yourself, after all you can only produce and sell so much at a time. We are dependent on many factors, taxes, regulations, bureaucracies, many factors stop us or allow us from doing business in a specific area, city, country and even continent. At the end of the day, we are merchants, if one of our suppliers is gone then what? What am I supposed to do? Let’s say that I have a great idea with extreme potential, an economical one, but I don’t have the required money to make it happen. How am I supposed to make this a reality without sponsors? What should I do? Quit? As you can understand this field of work is hard, ugly even, but we still need each other to accomplish something. We might hate each other, but we still understand the need of each other.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Kiana- I think I understand that now. I have done adventurer work, I have bought weapons, potions, armour and so on. If no one produced them then, I wouldn’t be able to do my job, but at the same time, if there wasn’t anyone sealing said products, I still couldn’t do my job properly because there’s no way for me to acquire them. How am I supposed to defeat a monster with my bare hands? Right now, I can do that, but when I started? Of course not. Not only that, there were a few times that I had to ask for help as if I didn’t do that, I might as well not be here in this moment.
Myra- Wait a second, you did adventurer work? Well, that sure is a surprise, I wouldn’t have guessed that at all. Huh, the world sure is full of surprises.
Merchant Teacher- Bhuaha! To be honest, neither would I! But that can explain how you were to keep your composure when those students were trying to get a reaction out of you. Making fun of you in this case. Either way, I would love to have you in our class, I don’t think Miss Roosevelt is opposed to it, so if you want to join it then, you are more than free to do so. However, it won’t be easy at all, you have to learn a lot, and I do mean a lot.
Myra- Sensei, don’t keep your hopes too high as she has no interest in this whatsoever. However, if you ever change your mind, you will always be welcome. At the end of the day, you don’t have to be the owner of a massive company, no, you can simply be my assistant for example. Although I will only tell you what such assistance will do if you do want to be it, otherwise it will be a secret. However, if you want to have a simple cup of tea you are also more than welcome for that.
A genuine smile appears on Myra's face as she softly says all of this. Kiana smiles back and nods with agreement, she will think about it as she says to her. The cup of tea however, it’s something that they promised each other that they will have in the near future. This simple interaction between the two of them, the genuine look on Myra face, a kind and soft one at that. This is something that the merchant teacher never in his life expected to be able to witness.
Myra Roosevelt, a well known merchant in the world, one that is cruel, cold-hearted and even evil to some, a young lady capable of getting anything and everything that she wants and yet, this “monster” is smiling. To make it even more of a shock, she’s not doing to those that she loves, but to this simple girl, one that you would easily mistake her to be sick from how pale her skin is. One that you would think that she is fragile thanks to her small stature, but at the same time, she seems like a doll thanks to her doll like looks. “Impossible!”, this simple and yet effective word describes his immediate thoughts about this, he simply cannot wrap his mind around this event, this once in a lifetime event.
“(Unbelievable! Just who is this girl!? Miss Roosevelt, she can be so cruel to others, cold as the winter in the ice lands, and yet, with this simple girl she’s acting this warm… Miss Eris, your really don’t seem it, but you sure are a box full of surprises and something else to get this reaction from Miss Roosevelt.)”
A miracle, he thinks this to himself, but as he’s starting to believe that Kiana can change Myra into a “better” person, Myra returns back to normal as Kiana leaves to go on her little merry way. The change was swift and smooth, a complete master of her emotions. This is Myra, or Miss Roosevelt as he calls her, the one that he knows very well. He also knows, understands, comprehends that what happened here with Kiana is nothing more than a dream, something that he imagined. What happened here was and will be an exception, and he knows that damn well. There is no point on talking about it, no point on trying to pry into Myra mind, what she’s thinking, her true objective, no, if he even dares to try to do it, he will be shut down in that very moment, and the consequences that will follow will not be kind to him. As fear starts to run on his mind, what he hears next makes his mind go blank instead.
“Well then, for the first time in a long, long time, I have high expectations from someone else.
A simple phrase, but since this is Myra that said it, the meaning behind it already gives it a ton of weight, then the fact she was the one who said it, makes it weigh several tons even more. His mind cannot fathom this sudden change in personality, he really can’t. His mind cannot process Myra's soft look, her sharp eyes are for the first time soft, her normal cold face is now warm as she keeps on staring at Kiana now small silhouette. She means what she said, maybe it was a slip up and she ended up letting this into the world by mistake, but if he before was feeling pressure to never mention what happened between Myra and Kiana, now then, he has the whole world on his shoulders.
