(65)Chapter 1.2.5 – Are All of These People Really Like This? (Part 6)

“Well then, since we no longer have noise disturbing us, let’s get going. First show me your notes, I think you did your calculations wrong from the small glimpse that I had.”

And so, without any hesitation at all Kiana shows her the notes. For how long did she look at them? Between 3-5 seconds? Something like that and yet Myra was able to quickly find what Kiana did wrong and even a way to turn what Kiana was trying to do into a successful attempt. Amazing, her brain is going as fast, no, faster than the speed of sound! The math that is going through it, everything related to the test, she’s creating scenarios in her mind on how things can go, how they will go and so on. Wow, so that’s the workings of a mind of a genius?

Kiana- Erm, did I make a mistake then? Oh my, is it even harder than I first imagined!? Awawa, this is way too many numbers for my small head... Ah, I think I’m starting to see magic floating around! Ups, I activated my Magical Eyes, that explains why! ?>w
As anyone can expect, Kiana jokingly says all of this. She has a massive smile on her face, just the fact that Myra is here with her is already enough to make her mood extremely good, although the same can be said about Myra as she softly smiles back. Who would’ve wondered that Kiana's good mood could positively influence anyone who’s next to her? But in this case, it’s more than understandable, what just happened alone is enough to bring down the mood to the mud and if you add everything together then, it straight out worsens so much that you become angry. I still can’t understand nor does Myra and the Merchant teacher, how can these students behave in such a way. This is supposed to be something professional, something that can and will change the course of your academic path and even life, and yet, the vast majority of these students just want to show off. This is beyond pathetic, but just as I was yapping about, in the meantime Myra shows Kiana what she did wrong.

It was that confusion with a plus and subtraction making the end result lower than it should be. There is more to this than just that, after all if Kiana knew she had more room to play with her profits, then she could’ve had an even better result. I don’t think she could get the 100k gold at the end, but this is more than enough for Myra's right eyebrow to be slightly upwards, her eyes slightly wide open, and her beautiful mouth the same way. She never expected for Kiana to do well, let alone this well, this is far beyond her expectations and of course in a good way. She’s a beginner and yet, she was able to get these results. Kiana might just have a nat for this after all.

Myra- Look at this, this is where you made your mistake. Rather than adding this, you subtracted, completely changing the outcome at the end. You would’ve ended with a massive profit of 30k gold and with a little more than 50k gold. However, this simple mistake made you more conservative towards the later third of the puzzle. If you didn’t have made said mistake you could’ve played around with your gold much more freely and potentially ended up closer to the target.

Kiana- Ah, I didn’t even notice that... And yes, when I was trying to figure out how to get more gold, since I had so little room to play with my profits that I just decided to not invest much thanks to the fear of not being able to make it back.

Myra- You still did good, very good even, especially for your first time, so don’t worry about it too much. Nothing that a little bit of training won’t improve. Although you told me that you had no interest in this whatsoever, not only you gave a try, you tried your best, the results that you got are a consequence of such. You should be proud of yourself.

With a soft and gentle tone of voice, she praises Kiana's efforts and accomplishments. If Kiana was smiling before then now, she still is though, nothing has changed about that. Who wouldn’t be happy for getting praised for their hard work? In her case she’s so happy that her checks gain a bit of that red colour to them, although this might be more so because of the small embarrassment she might be feeling from this. She looks cute though.

Myra- Well then, enough of this, time to get to work. We should only have 5-4 minutes to finish this. Pay close attention, I will use your plan as a base and modify it in a way that we can solve this.

And so, she gets to work. Though, the moment she does so, all the students surround them to see her work, to see how she will solve this. All the eyes are on Myra, our petite Kiana has just become invisible to every single one of them, somehow. But oh well, it’s quite fascinating to be honest, a few moments ago they were throwing insults at each other and now, without any complaints at all, they’ve organized themselves in such an organized way that they form a circle big enough for all of them to be able to see. You would think that, having so many eyes dead set on you, carefully looking at what you’re doing would make Myra nervous or at the very least a little bit, but it seems she’s more than used to this as none of this is distracting her. She’s fully focused on what she’s doing, if before you didn’t get an idea of just how “professional” she seems, then this will definitely give that idea and get it stuck in your head. Each step, thought, foreseen situations and even risks she decides to take, she explains all of it to Kiana.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

Unfortunately for both of them, after a few moments of said explanations, Kiana seems to get confused and then lost afterward. Myra quickly notices it, it seems the heat of the moment made her a little bit too excited and she didn’t expect for Kiana to get this confused. She does not stop her explanations even with this, it seems she still wants to teach the other students something even though they have failed. A few minutes later they are done, easily reaching the requirements at the end of it. When I say that I do mean it, not only she ended with double, not a bit more, half more, no, double than the 100k gold, she still had the same 30k gold in profits. She literally grabbed Kiana's initial plan, made a few modifications to it and bam! She destroyed the competition and made the test seem like a walk in the park. A true merchant, nothing else that I can say about that.

The merchant teacher has a smirk on his face, telling the world “That’s my student!”, while the rest of the students are shocked at her performance. Their ugly eyes are shining with excitement and amazement, some of them even crack a smile from this, while others have their disgusting mouths wide open filled with disbelief and shock. A spectacle to be seen, as the thirty or so students are mesmerised with Myra abilities. Kiana somehow has a smug look on her face, or is it pride for what Myra was able to do? Silly Kiana, but it seems she has officially made Myra as her friend.

“A result that we all expected to happen, but nonetheless, Miss Eris, you have passed the test! Congratulations!”

Just like I said before, he still has that smirk on his face as he says all of this and as anyone with a single brain cell active can expect that, the moment he said this, the mood of the students’ complete changes to the opposite. From excitement, disbelief, happiness, amazement, those great feelings quickly turn around into anger, bitterness, resentment, all the worst feelings you can have. The look on their faces changes accordingly, their eyes become sharp and ugly as they are filled with rage, their faces disgustingly twists around into an angry look. Bunch of buffoons with too much of an ego I would say. You got what you deserved, you acted in such a way, what did you expect it would happen? Argh, no point in trying to make sense of them, I guess.

Rude Student- That’s so unfair! Unfair I say! She didn’t do anything at all! It was Miss Roosevelt that solved this, how can she pass the test at the end!?

Cocky Student- This is a scam! Ye-Yeah! She’s a friend of Miss Roosevelt, that is why she passed!

Extremely Arrogant Female Student- What!? A friend of hers!? This ugly face!? Impossible! Argh! The envy… Life truly is so unfair for those with such beauty as myself… I also wanted to do something with Miss Roosevelt!

“Enough of this complaining! You all had your turn, it’s not Miss Eris fault, my fault or Miss Roosevelt fault that you all failed! It’s not our fault that teamwork never crossed your simple minds!”

Merchant Teacher- None of you have the capacity to conquer the test by yourselves. You don’t have the knowledge for it, you don’t have the experience for it, you don’t have the “connections” for it, nothing at all. This was a golden opportunity that you all have failed to grasp, let alone use it to your advantage. Tell me, do any of you think these types of opportunities fall from the sky? Something that you can get every single day? Do you really think this opportunity will happen again? Why do I even bother to ask? Of course, you think! After all, you have next year to try again!

“You should be ashamed, none of you have the capacities, abilities and attitude to be a merchant. This field of work is no joke, it’s not easy at all to be a merchant let alone a successful one. Take this as a lesson, you lot still have a lot to learn. Next year, try to not make a fool out of yourself. All of you are dismissed, get out of my and Miss Roosevelt sight!”

He says all of this with a cold tone of voice, but with a serious look on his face. He meant every single word that he just said. Silence fills the area for a few moments. Silence by nature is the lack of sound in a specific place or situation but in this case, the silence is loud, obnoxious, annoying even. Maybe now they will understand what they were doing, maybe they will come to their senses, maybe they will regret their awful conduct, or maybe, all of this is just wishful thinking on my part. Reality is often cruel and what these students got out of this is a grudge towards our innocent Kiana. The looks she got as they were leaving are a proof of that, the small talk between them does not help disproof it either. Poor Kiana, she literally did nothing wrong and yet, she’s the centre of attention, but not in a good way. Judging from how a few of them have bullied Anya, I wouldn’t doubt they will target Kiana in the future, maybe even the near future. I can more than predict that it won’t end well for them, in this place no one comes even close to Kiana's strength, seriously, it’s like comparing an ant to a mountain, the biggest one at that. Oh well, if they are dumb enough to do something (they are though), Kiana just needs to beat some sense into their simple minds.
