Taniah- I understand your doubts, after all, magic is not an item. However, it’s actually quite simple. Have any of you heard of magic scrolls? Of course, you have, and in this case it’s one that has the Light spell on them, Illuminate in this case. Great way of thinking, no? In a way it uses the same concept as those two previous answers, while using a completely different way to achieve it. Not only that, it actually uses magic! Ahem! Before I get too excited… To all of you that have participated, I once again give my congrats to all of you. You did a good job going through this and even though only two have won, you still have the chance to join the student council. Yes, as I said before, the student council has several duties and a few of them involve being physical. While this test did test your way of thinking, the next one will be a practical one where you will show us your physical strength, magic power and so on. You can be strong enough to be a fighter, one that protects the students and the Academy or your magic might be a supportive type and so on. There can be a place where you can fit even if you didn’t pass this test.
“In the end, don’t be too sad about failing, learn from this mistake, take it as a lesson, as a new way of seeing reality, a new perspective and a new idea for the future.”
With a soft tone of voice and look on her face, she says this however, at the same time she tries to give out motivation to those that lost. With this she ends everything, dismissing the recruiting session and at the same time asking for anyone that did not directly participate to leave the gym. There was a bit of talk here and there while doing so but after a minute or so the gym is basically empty, only the student council members, Kiana and the ten students that participate are there. Just as Kiana was also about to leave, the same girl that “forced” her to participate decides to start a conversation with her. Said girl filled Kiana's simple mind with compliments for her brave decision to participate and some other random jabbering, making Kiana stay there until she was basically called by the student council. Huh, she sure seems to get rather easily distracted.
“Kiana Eris! Please come here.”
And so, the President of the Student Council calls for her and without much of a choice, she walks up to Taniah who is holding the paper with her answer.
Kiana- He-hello! I’m Kiana Eris, a pleasure to meet you!
As stiff as one can be, she introduces herself. Taniah does notice Kiana nervous look, softly smiling at her in an attempt of relaxing her. Although she is able to do so, as Kiana does relax a bit her stiff posture.
Taniah- I’m Taniah Clarence, a pleasure to meet you too Miss Eris-
Kiana- Ah, you can call me Kiana!
Then as if she just forgot how she reacted mere seconds ago and where she is, she quickly and naturally says this to Taniah, not only that, she does have quite the happy look on her face. This girl, does she even know manners? I mean, she did notice what she did a fraction of a second later, quickly changing her happy face into one filled with horror and despair. Yep, this is no way to speak to someone of status like Taniah, a little more formality is needed. Though it seems the goddess of luck is on her side as Taniah does not take this as an offence, quite the opposite in fact.
“In that case, you can call me by Taniah. Well then, with this out of the way, let’s start-”
Kiana- Ah, wait! I’m so sorry but, I have to say something first! I have to get this out of my system as fast as I can!
She’s loud as she almost shouts this, interrupting Taniah mid sentence, again mind you. Taniah stares at her with a confused look on her face, but at the same time you can see that she’s curious to what Kiana might say.
“I’m so sorry for this but I never wanted to participate! Please don’t take someone else's chance at this because of me! I was at the back and because of it I was mistaken as a participant, however I didn’t have the courage to say no!”
She bows deeply as she says all of this, she blames herself for this turn of events and in a sense she’s right. However, we are talking about Kiana at the end of the day, our beautiful pale looking Kiana, a kind, sincere and considerate young lady, she didn’t want to make a scene at that time and now she feels guilty about all of this. Though she’s forgetting that, she gave the correct answer, not only that, she didn’t take the chance to participate of no one else, Taniah said loud and clear that anyone who wanted to do so, they needed to stand up. Those who did not do it, they didn’t want to participate for whatever their reasons were. Seriously Kiana, don’t blame yourself for this.

The Female Student that caused the misunderstanding- No way... you didn’t want to? I-I also have to apologize! I was the one who forced her to do it...
As you can see, not everyone in this world is some evil being, in fact, the vast majority of people are normal people. This girl, the one that created all of this confusion, feels as much guilt, if not more, than what Kiana feels. She understands where she was wrong and with it, she apologized for it. But, why am I saying this now? The answer is simple, first the students that bullied Anya, in the crowd there were a few of them that looked like them, although Kiana missed them, I was able to notice them. Let me tell you something, the face they made when Kiana was in front ready to tackle the riddle, it would make you hate their guts in that precise moment. They seemed disgusted, you can easily understand what they were thinking, “This poor girl, who does she think she is?”, “Just look how she’s dressed, all cheap and yet she has the gall to stand there!”. Yep, some people really are a bunch of idiots, thank god not everyone is like them. And once again I was yapping for far too long. Great!
Kiana- No, no, no! I should be the one apologizing! I should’ve said something to you rather than going with the flow... I could’ve avoided all of this if I did that.
Taniah- Not going to say that I was expecting this, but it’s a shame Miss Kiana. However, at the student council we don’t force people to join, although I would love to have you with me, with us the student council. I still need another member and I will look for other candidates. If for some reason you change your mind, just be aware of this. Don’t worry, even if the seat is taken, I can guarantee you that you will always be welcome at the student council. I would love to get to know you.
Kiana- Thank you so much Tani-President! I would also love to be your friend; I will try my best to visit you sometime. Though, in the past I have done some adventurer work so, in case you need some more muscles I can help you out. I can protect all of you if the case arises!
Ah, there it is! The Magical Girl persona right at the end! Anyway, she says this with a bright smile on her face and as you can guess, she got quite the look from both of them, it seems they are having a little bit of trouble believing the adventurer part. I wonder why. Seriously, people should stop judging Kiana's strength and abilities from her looks alone. I mean, yeah, she’s petite, yeah, her skin is so pale that you could easily mistake her to be sick, yeah, her body is slender and fragile looking, but hey! That’s it really, now that I have said it, I can also see it. Dammit, I should’ve never thought about it in this way!
Taniah- Is that so? I would never guess that, but that could explain why you guessed magic scrolls. You must have seen and used your fair share of them I would guess. I have used them here and there but nowhere near as much as a normal adventurer uses, I think.
Kiana- I’m also in the same boat, I rarely use them. To be honest I was panicking about the answer for the riddle, but then I got frustrated and, in that moment, I thought about using magic. I didn’t know if you could use magic since the father said an item but that was when I thought about magic scrolls. However, I would consider magic as a tool, and even an item in that sense.
“Magic is a means to an end, at least that is how I see it. It’s something that you use to achieve whatever you might want.”
Kiana- I can see that, after all, if magic didn’t have any use, then we wouldn’t bother with it. What I said still stands however, you can still consider magic to be a tool. We use tools to achieve something that we want, just like we do with magic.
Taniah- The problem that we are having right now is a matter of perspectives. Two things can be true at once, it can be a means to an end while at the same time, a tool. In this case it will depend on our perspective since magic is much broader than a tool will ever be. You can use magic for literally everything that you can think of while a tool is only used for a certain thing. That’s why there are several types of tools, each one for a different objective. But we can discuss this further at a later date. In fact, this is a good topic to talk about when you decide to visit us at the student council. At the end you did good with your answer, none of us would’ve thought about it.
Her tone of voice becomes softer at the end, she stares at Kiana with a gentle look on her face as she tells Kiana to visit her in the future. The praise that comes out of her mouth, although it’s just a simple “You did good”, she says so with sincerity. Kiana is extremely happy as she receives the praise, but what makes her happier is how Taniah looks at her, with kindness and sincerity. However, as they are bonding and getting to know each other, two students, members of the student council to be precise, walk up to them, interrupting their precious moment. Taniah excuses herself and walks off a few meters with said students. From there they start to converse with each other, while Kiana nor I, we cannot hear or understand what they are saying, I can only guess that Kiana might be involved. The reason for this is because, occasionally both of those students, not at the same time, look towards Kiana as they keep on talking to Taniah.
