7 – Catching Up

The Great Tomb of Nazerick(POV 3rd)"So, if you are a "Supreme Ruler of Nazerick" to the NPCs, and they are willing to follow your every decree, why don't you order them to be more casual or to speak with you as an equal?"

"Bell, I can't do that for many reasons," Momonga replied, "One is that they desire a master-servant retionship, so as their master, I must act like the master they see me as. Another is that they mentally can't."

"Like, they refuse to do so? or what?" Bellriver was still confused.

"Like their brains restart when they try to see me as an equal. I asked Naberal to drop the "Lord" when she refers to me, and now she's developed a tick when using my name. Demiurge's brain glitched out when he referred to me as "Ainz," I mean he stood there for ten minutes repeating the same thing until I snapped him out of it."

"... well, you were always the best of us, caring for others before yourself. Maybe I can take some of the responsibility off your hands?" Bellriver spoke from his heart, sacrificing his happiness for others was hard, especially for people like him, those who had nothing. "I can't bme you for everything you've done since you got here. I would have done the same, but do you see humans as..."

"...pests, inferior beings?" Momonga took the words from Bellriver's mouth, "Yes, I do. I've ordered the destruction of cities, and I've killed thousands - all in the name of Nazerick. Luckily, I haven't deteriorated to the point of killing innocents for fun, I try to avoid pointless killing whenever possible . . ." The overlord looked glum like he regretted what he did before straightening back up.

"Well, since I'm here, I might as well help you achieve your goal of taking over the world."

"Wait, really?" Momonga was surprised. He had expected Bellriver to be disgusted by his actions, to chastise or even attack him. Was he just paranoid?

"Hell yeah! If I got here, then the rest of our friends might also arrive, so why not prepare for their arrival?" Bellriver excitedly replied to his guildmaster. He had nothing going on in his previous life; he wasted it, so why not make the best out of this second chance? The [Flesh Monstrosity] held out his hand and Ainz accepted. Both [Pyers] were in high spirits now that they had a newfound goal.

Then, the door to the chamber was bsted open.

The Great Tomb of Nazerick(POV Albedo, 3rd)Albedo was having a particurly odd day.

Firstly, her beloved had disappeared from the Tomb without a trace, so she did the only reasonable thing and activated all of Nazericks defensive protocols.

Then, she got a report from the [Elder Liches] leading the invasion of the Re-Estize Kingdom that Momon, her master's secret identity, was spotted near E-Pesped. However, Pandora's Actor was still in E-Rantel, so it couldn't be him.

Finally, as she was attempting to figure out where her beloved was, he [Messaged] her to order a guardian assembly. It wasn't time for their weekly reports and he asked her to take the floor guardians to Odin's Hall, the sacred meeting room of the 41 Supreme Beings.

  What did he need?

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice a [Gate] open beside her. Out stepped Demiurge, one of the few individuals she saw as her equal; he gave her a polite nod, which she returned and moved beside her.

"So, Albedo, do you know why the Great One called upon us at this time?" The demon's voice hid a condescending tone, as if her was testing her.

Albedo, with her thoughts interrupted, replied politely: "No, Demiurge, although that is what I wish to figure out. Perhaps one of us has done something that has displeased Lord Momonga." There was some venom hidden in her response.

  Demiurge merely smiled, "Perhaps."

The two demons continued to discuss their current projects and specute upon the Supreme Ruler's assembly until most the Floor Guardians had arrived. Soon, they began to make their way towards Odin's Hall.

"Why is Lord Ainz calling us now?" came a timid voice.

Before Albedo could answer the dark elf, Demiurge cut in: "Well, Mare, I'm not sure, but perhaps one of us has made a mistake that Lord Ainz wishes to rectify. Or perhaps Lord Ainz wants to discuss the current war with the Re-Estize Kingdom."

Mare smiled a little, "Thanks, Demiurge!" The demon nodded in response, keeping his signature smirk on his face.

Albedo said, "Lord Ainz wanting to discuss the war against the Re-Estize Kingdom? Highly unlikely! One of us could destroy that kingdom of ants in mere days if he wished so." the succubus finished, seemingly satisfied at her short rant.

"Well, Albedo," Demiurge emphasized the guardian overseer's name, "Lord Ainz and I have spent many nights discussing strategy for his conquest of the world. On many occasions, he even told me tales from his world, the world of the Supreme Beings. One tale I now keep close to me is about a great war between two Gods, the Peloponnesian War. A god of wisdom, Athens, wished to expand his influence to nearby nds, so he sent his best general - Alcibiades - to take the city of Syracuse in his name."

"Interesting, so what happened?" Despite Albedo's attempt at pretending to be disinterested, Demiurge could tell she was captivated by the story.

"Alcibiades, in his pride, severely underestimated the followers of the god Sicily and had his entire fleet destroyed within the city's harbor. Disgraced, he returned home and was punished by being put into a bronze bull and cooked alive." the demon finished the story, "The lesson this tale warns is not to allow one's pride to blind them, lest they suffer the consequences."

"Lord. Ainz's. Wisdom. Knows. No. Bounds." came a deep, reverberating voice. Cocytus, the Guardian of the fifth floor of Nazerick, said as he emerged from a [Gate] alongside a young girl with pale skin and red eyes.

Demiurge merely nodded at the arrival of the remaining floor guardians.

Albedo, on the other hand, welcomed the two: "Welcome Cocytus. How is the war going?"

  "Good," the insectoid responded instantaneously.

"Lord Ainz's mercy and passion are infinite; through them, he has given me a second chance. I would love to show him my passion." The Guardian of the first floor, Shalltear Bloodfallen, said while wistfully staring into the distance.

"Watch how you talk about the Supreme One, wetch." Albedo immediately snapped back, voice ced with anger.

"Oh please, you're one to talk. We all know you've been lusting over Lord Ainz's exquisite body for about as long as I have."

"Well, at least I don't stuff my bra full of padding like you!" the succubus shot back.

Shalltear started to get visibly annoyed, and a blood-red aura started to form around her. "WELL, AT LEAST I'M NOT A SL-"

Before Shalltear could finish her retort, they heard a loud commotion come from Odin's Hall. The two female floor guardians had been in a catfight for so long that they never noticed that they arrived at the meeting room. Sebas, the head butler, was already there and had learned about Bellriver's return.

"Greetings Albe-" The stoic man began to say before being rudely interrupted by the guardian overseer.

"WHAT IS GOING ON INSIDE?!" she screamed.

"Well, ma'am, today ano-," Sebas once again began to say.

"Lord Ainz is in danger! That's the only reason for that commotion! We must charge in, NOW!" Shalltear shouted.

Sebas, attempting to calm the situation and expin that another Supreme Being had arrived, said: "Please calm down, Lady Albedo, Lady Shalltear, all is well. It is just a reuni-"

For the third time, Sebas was interrupted by more hysterical screaming: "I'M COMING LORD AINZ!" Shalltear and Albedo said near simultaneously and charged at the door.

Throughout this scene, the rest of the floor guardians watched the theatrics, unwilling to face the two women's wrath.

Aura and Mare were too young to care for Shalltear and Albedo's spite, but they realized it was best to keep quiet whenever they began fighting.

Demiurge ignored the two's theatrics, but worry settled in as the disturbances from Odin's Hall began to quiet down. Is Lord Ainz in danger? Eventually, he concluded that the chances of his master being in danger were very low, so he opted to watch the unfolding scene.

Cocytus attempted to stop the two competitors from destroying the door, fearing punishment for disturbing their master.

The two floor guardians rushed the door to the chamber, each activating some combat skills in the process, and with a single punch from each, the door exploded inwards...

...only to reveal AInz with Bellriver in the middle of a handshake.
