Discimer: I don't own Harry Potter
The dawn of November 2, 1988, arrived softly, a hush of pale light creeping through the forest and into the wolves' den. Harry opened his eyes slowly, feeling warmth on all sides. His "sisters" still slumbered around him: Ilfa, Myrren, Taris, Eriwen, Selune, Aylin, Nythra, Vaerya, and Corlys, each curled protectively and comfortably against his slight frame. The great mother wolf, Selyria, y near the den's entrance, ears twitching in early vigince. Harry could sense the rhythmic rise and fall of her breath even without looking.
In the short time since he had been abandoned and found by this pack, Harry had begun to understand the natural order of his new family. He was the smallest, the weakest—an outsider made kin. Instinctively, he knew his pce: the Omega. Among wolves, the Omega bore no shame; it was simply part of the bance. The strongest led, the guardians protected, and the weakest was cherished and looked after by all. He was surprised that being the Omega came with such gentle affection, rather than scorn or cruelty. Here, even the weakest pup was part of something greater than themselves, wrapped in warmth and love.
He felt no urge to compin about this role. In fact, he liked having sisters who hovered around him, never letting him stray too far, always quick to comfort him if he seemed anxious or cold. After a lifetime of neglect, this unwavering closeness felt like a precious gift. He would be loyal to them in return, obeying without question, doing whatever was asked, as if to repay their kindness in any way he could.
Morning had just begun, and Harry realized his hunger had grown. He needed more than berries and scraps if he was to continue strengthening himself. He had survived one day towards his seven-day goal, and that had given him the hint of what he could do: He could strive for self-improvement. He gnced at Selyria, still dozing lightly. His sisters breathed softly, their heads pressed close. The forest outside was quiet, and he sensed no immediate danger. Perhaps he could prove himself useful by gathering food and resources. If he could bring back something edible, it might show Selyria and the pups that he could contribute, even as an Omega.
Harry carefully wiggled free from the tangle of furred bodies. The pups stirred slightly but did not fully awaken. Outside, a gentle mist wreathed the forest floor. Harry stepped into it, his bare feet sinking into damp moss. He wasn't entirely sure how to hunt, but he had watched Selyria and remembered details from the previous day's attempts at foraging. His "Observe" skill might help him identify prey and safe foods. He also remembered from the system's interface that his stealth skill was novice level. Perhaps he could improve it now by moving quietly, like a shadow through the undergrowth.
He moved slowly, careful to avoid snapping twigs. His empathy told him he was not alone—small animals scattered about, birds perched above. If he wanted to catch something, he had to be patient and silent. He tried to calm his breathing, to sink into the forest's gentle rhythm. Then he noticed a faint rustle in a patch of ferns. Kneeling down, he used "Observe" quietly in his mind.
[Observe Lv.2: Wild Rabbit – Skittish, Herbivore, Edible. High in protein. Approach carefully to avoid alerting it.]
A rabbit. Harry's stomach tightened with anticipation. Could he really catch one? He had never hunted before, never been allowed near anything sharp or dangerous. Yet now he crouched low, inching forward. The rabbit nibbled on leaves, ears twitching. He held his breath, then lunged. The rabbit tried to dart away, but malnourished though he was, Harry had always been quick when escaping the Dursleys' blows. His small hand closed on the rabbit's hind legs. It kicked frantically, but he held on, apologizing silently to the creature. He felt regret taking its life, but he needed this to survive. He forced himself to be swift and merciful, ending its struggle with as little pain as possible. A sadness bloomed in him, but he understood that life in the forest was often harsh.
Carrying the rabbit, he continued forward. He wanted more than just meat. He recalled the cluster of berry bushes he had found the previous day. With careful searching, he found them again, plucking a sackful of ripe, tart berries and wrapping them in a rge leaf, tying it with a thin vine. He banced his prizes in his arms and ventured further towards a nearby stream he had heard in the distance. If he could catch fish, that would be remarkable, another sign of worth.
The stream was clear and shallow, its bed shimmering with pebbles. He knelt by the bank, peering into the water. Silvery shapes darted beneath the surface. He tried to scoop with his hands but found it too difficult. After a few failed attempts, he decided to use a fallen branch sharpened at one end by natural wear. He positioned it over the water, waiting, waiting... When a fish swam close, he struck down quickly. The first few attempts missed entirely, spshing water and scaring the fish away. Undeterred, he waited again, controlling his breathing, focusing with all the intent he could muster.
At st, he managed to spear a small fish. Then another, and another. The skill was clumsy, but each success emboldened him. Five fish total now y flopping on the bank. He ended their suffering swiftly, as he did the rabbit, whispering silent apologies. He might be hungry, but he did not want to be cruel. Soon, he had a modest bounty: a rabbit, a leaf bundle of berries, and five fish. Far more than he imagined possible for his first solo hunt. He felt something unusual then—pride. He had done something for his family. He was contributing. Even an Omega could help the pack survive.
The sun had risen higher by the time Harry made his way back to the den. He approached quietly, expecting everyone still to be sleeping. But as he neared the den's entrance, he sensed agitation. Emotional waves of worry, fear, and relief hit him before he even stepped inside. The pups were awake, scurrying about, sniffing his sleeping spot. Selyria stood tall, hackles raised, nostrils fring as she caught his scent. Next to her stood another adult female wolf, one Harry had not seen before: Luna. She was slightly smaller than Selyria but still rge and formidable. Her coat was dark gray, eyes a soft amber. She radiated authority, and from her stance, Harry sensed she held a respected position in the pack. Perhaps a Beta female or Selyria's close companion.
As soon as Harry stepped into view, the pups rushed at him, whining softly, circling him, sniffing and licking. They pressed against him as if to ensure he was real. Harry felt their relief—he had worried them by leaving without notice. Selyria's eyes narrowed, mixed emotions swimming within them. Luna, on the other hand, approached him briskly. With a firm push of her muzzle, she made him kneel. Harry complied instantly, lowering himself without protest. He understood that he had broken some pack rule by leaving alone. Luna barked sharply, the sound echoing in the small clearing. There was no malice, but it carried a tone of reprimand.
Harry looked at her apologetically. He tried to convey with his eyes that he meant no harm, that he only wanted to help. Luna's barking softened, and Harry could feel from her aura that she was scolding him for wandering off without protection. He nodded mutely, bowing his head. He would not make that mistake again. For all he knew, there could have been predators lurking nearby, waiting to snatch him away. The pack depended on each other's presence and safety. He was Omega, the youngest and weakest brother, and they needed to ensure he survived.
But then Luna sniffed the rabbit he carried and the fish he had strung together with a vine. Her posture changed. She barked again, this time with a note of pride. Selyria stepped forward, ears pricked in interest. The pups crowded closer, tails wagging. They sniffed the rabbit, the fish, and the berries, curious and excited. Harry sensed their astonishment. The Omega had gone out alone and returned with fresh kills. This was unusual, but also admirable. He had shown initiative, skill, and a desire to provide.
Selyria rumbled her approval, and the tension in the pack dissolved. Luna nuzzled Harry's cheek, acknowledging his effort. The pups bounded around him, yipping with pride and delight. They pawed at the fish, nosing the rabbit. Eriwen let out a squeaky howl, joined by Aylin and Corlys, their voices rising in a celebratory chorus. Harry's heart swelled. He had worried them, yes, but now they understood his motive. He would never leave to abandon them, only to help.
The pack settled down to share the food Harry had brought. Although still squeamish about raw meat, Harry accepted a small portion. He knew he needed the nutrients. The pups gnawed on the fish bones, delighted by the new taste. The berries were mostly for Harry's benefit—wolves preferred meat—but they sniffed them curiously anyway. After everyone had eaten their fill, Harry felt content and more energetic than ever since arriving in the forest. His health was improving, if only slightly. Maybe now he could recover from some of his malnourishment.
With the morning's tension resolved, the pack settled into a comfortable rhythm. Selyria and Luna kept watch at the den's entrance, occasionally walking the perimeter of the clearing. The pups busied themselves with py, wrestling over scraps of rabbit fur or pouncing on fallen leaves. Harry found a quiet spot inside the den, leaning against a smooth rock. He wanted to consult the system again. Yesterday, he had begun exploring the Shop. Now, with a better sense of his role as Omega and the importance of contributing to the pack, he wanted to see if he could find healing abilities or items. If he could help tend to their injuries, should any occur, he would be even more valuable to them.
Focusing inward, he summoned the system interface. The translucent green panels appeared before his mind's eye, overying reality.
[Status Update:Day 2/7 Survive in the Wild (Part 1) Quest In Progress]
He had survived one full day and was now into the second. He opened the Shop and navigated to the "Skills & Abilities" section again. Scrolling through lists of unaffordable powers made him sigh. Chakra, Ki, Reiryoku—these legendary energies were far out of reach. He needed something simpler, something focused on healing.
[Shop: Skills & Abilities (Filtered: Healing / Support)
Basic First Aid (Mundane): 25 System Coins
Herbal Remedies (Basic Knowledge): 50 System Coins
Low-Tier Healing Spell (Requires Magic Access): 500 System Coins
Healing Hands (Basic) - 1,000 System Coins
Greater Restoration (High Tier) - 5,000 System Coins]
Harry frowned. He had no System Coins yet. He remembered the currency conversions: 10 pence = 1 System Coin, but he had no money. He had only his bare hands and the forest around him. Maybe if he completed his initial quest—surviving seven days—he would gain 50 System Coins. That would let him buy "Herbal Remedies (Basic Knowledge)." With that, he might learn how to use local pnts to treat wounds and illness. It wasn't much, but it would be a start.
He flicked to the "Quests" tab again, hoping for a side quest or something that might grant him coins sooner:
[No new quests avaible. Survive in the Wild (Part 1): Day 2/7]
Perhaps quests would appear if certain conditions were met. He could try exploring, or observing more. He noticed that "Observe" had leveled up the previous day. If he improved it further, maybe he could glean information about medicinal pnts. Without the purchased skill, he might still learn through trial and error. However, that would be risky. He didn't want to feed poisonous pnts to his sisters or harm Selyria in an attempt to help.
As he pondered these things, Selune wandered over and curled up against his side, her tail thumping gently. He patted her head. He imagined that one day, if any of them got hurt—wolves could be injured by predators, snares, or even old age—he wanted to be able to help. Not just rely on Selyria's care and the natural resilience of wolves, but actively contribute healing. It would make him more than just a mouth to feed. It would confirm his pce in the pack's heart.
He tried using "Observe" on random pnts near the den's interior. Although he could only focus on them from memory, the skill attempted to lock onto what he had seen earlier. He decided to step outside again, taking Selune with him. The other pups followed, curious. Harry picked a few different leaves and concentrated on them, using "Observe" multiple times.
[Observe Lv.2 -> Lv.3!]
He grinned as the system notified him that his skill had improved once more. Now, each time he observed something, he received slightly more detail. A small fern by the den's entrance:
[Observe Lv.3: Greenfern Leaf – Common forest pnt, mildly antiseptic. Can be crushed into a poultice to prevent infection in small wounds.]
Harry's heart leapt. Even without buying the Herbal Remedies skill, he could now glean a bit more detail about pnts. He had found something mildly useful—Greenfern Leaf could help with infections. He stored that knowledge in his mind, determined to remember it. He picked a few leaves and wrapped them in a rge piece of bark for ter use. Who knew when they might come in handy?
The pups watched him curiously. Aylin sniffed at the bark, then sneezed. Harry ughed softly and patted her head. He felt a growing bond with these sisters. Their warm, watchful eyes, their endless curiosity, made him feel safe. For them, he would do anything.
By midday, Selyria and Luna left for a short patrol, leaving Harry and the pups near the den. This time, the pups made sure Harry did not stray too far. Any time he ventured a few steps away, Ilfa or Myrren would herd him back with pyful nips at his ragged clothes. Harry submitted to this gentle guardianship gdly. He felt guilty for having worried them that morning, even if he had also pleased them with his catch. He would be more careful from now on, making sure they knew where he went or waiting until he was certain he wouldn't cause arm.
The afternoon sun filtered down, warming the forest floor. Harry and the pups explored a small radius around the den, sniffing for interesting scents. Harry observed more pnts and creatures, slowly building a mental catalog of the forest's resources. Most were unremarkable—just ordinary leaves and berries—but the knowledge calmed him. Every fact made him more prepared, less helpless.
From time to time, he closed his eyes and tried to feel the subtle hum of magic he suspected y dormant inside him. The system said his magical core was suppressed. He wondered what it would feel like if it were free—would he be able to heal others effortlessly, conjure food, or speak the wolves' nguage? He did not dwell too much on it. He had enough to focus on with survival, trust-building, and learning the ways of the forest.
By te afternoon, Selyria and Luna returned, dropping off a small deer they had taken down together. It was more than enough to feed everyone. Harry watched in awe as they shared the meal. The pack's dynamics were graceful: the strongest ate first, ensuring they maintained their strength to protect everyone. The pups and Harry waited their turn patiently. Despite being Omega, Harry never felt excluded, never felt that edge of cruelty he associated with being st in the Dursleys' home. Here it was fair: each had their pce, and each received what they needed in time.
After they had eaten, Selyria approached Harry and nudged him gently. He met her golden gaze, trying to understand. She opened her mouth and made a soft, rumbling bark—different from the scolding tone Luna had used. Harry sensed this was encouragement. She seemed to say: "You have done well, pup. Stay close, learn our ways." He nodded, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes. He was so grateful for her acceptance.
Evening approached, and the air cooled. The pups gathered around Harry again, as if assembling their nightly "bnket." He welcomed it, letting them settle in close. He had noticed something over the course of the day: he rarely felt the pangs of loneliness anymore. Surrounded by these sister-wolves, loved by Selyria and guided by Luna, he had a pce in the world. He might be Omega, but he was theirs, and they were his family.
Before sleep cimed him, he decided to gnce at the system again, checking if his actions had triggered any new quests.
[No additional Quests. Day 2/7 still in progress.]
Just surviving and learning might not be enough to earn extra coins or titles yet. He understood now that he had to be patient. The system was not a shortcut; it was a guide, a framework for growth. He would earn those 50 coins after a full week, and then perhaps he could buy Herbal Remedies. Maybe after that, more quests would unlock.
He gnced at the pups, whose names he repeated in his mind. Each had her own personality: Ilfa was the most protective, Myrren the most curious, Taris pyful and energetic, Eriwen shy but affectionate, Selune watchful and calm, Aylin adventurous, Nythra clever and quick, Vaerya gentle and nurturing, and Corlys bright and full of mischief. Together, they formed a tapestry of love and companionship that Harry cherished.
The moon rose higher, silver light spilling into the den. Harry noted that Selyria and Luna took turns keeping watch. He had learned a bit more about Luna throughout the day. She was indeed a senior female in the pack, perhaps an aunt or older sister figure to the pups. She treated Harry with a mix of stern guidance and caring warmth. Her presence assured Harry that if anything happened to Selyria, Luna would ensure the pack's wellbeing.
Harry considered his small stockpile of Greenfern Leaves. Maybe tomorrow he could find more medicinal pnts. If he learned enough on his own, he might not even need the skill from the shop right away. But no, the system's knowledge would be more reliable and thorough. He set that as a long-term goal: gather enough System Coins by completing the survival quest, then invest in healing knowledge.
As the wolves settled for the night, Harry felt a subtle shift in his empathy. He could sense not just their emotions, but tiny flickers of intention and instinct. It was as if their feelings were becoming clearer to him the longer he stayed with them. He wondered if, by day seven, he might understand them even better. Maybe he wouldn't need a skill to comprehend their emotions—maybe he would learn their "nguage" naturally. The system hinted he might start to understand animal nguages by chapter three of this journey, and here he was, living it.
He closed his eyes and recalled the events of the day: his early morning hunt, the scolding and praise from Luna, the comfort of his sisters, the discovery of Greenfern's antiseptic properties. Each moment was a step forward, a building block for his new life. He was no longer Harry the abused boy from Privet Drive—he was Harry, Omega of the Wolf Pack. He had a purpose now: to survive, to grow stronger, to care for those who cared for him.
Drifting into sleep, Harry listened to the sound of breathing around him, the gentle rustle of fur against leaves. He let the Gamer's Mind perk help him sort through the day's information calmly. There was no panic here, no fear. Just a quiet determination to see tomorrow's dawn and do better than today.
The night deepened. A gentle breeze stirred the branches outside, carrying the scent of distant water and fresh earth into the den. He could taste the forest in every breath, feel the heartbeat of life all around. If he closed his eyes, he could imagine green tendrils of energy connecting every living thing: trees, wolves, rabbits, fish, and even himself. Perhaps that was what magic felt like—interconnectedness, unity. He yearned to tap into it fully someday.
Half-asleep, he thought again of the Shop's healing items. He pictured himself tending to a wounded pup, applying a poultice made from herbs and leaves, whispering soothing words. He saw himself assisting Selyria and Luna by providing them with healing, showing that even the Omega could protect the pack in his own way.
A gentle nudge brought him back to the present moment. Corlys had shifted in her sleep, pressing her head against his side. He smiled and wrapped an arm around her furry body, sharing warmth. The pack was everything he had never had before, everything he had secretly dreamed of: acceptance, love, safety. He would repay them by becoming strong and capable, by learning to heal and help, so that they would never regret taking him in.
Eventually, he let the forest lulby carry him away. Tomorrow would be another day of subtle progress, quiet heroics, and unwavering loyalty. He trusted them now more than ever, these wolves who had become his sisters and guardians. And they trusted him, the strange little Omega who tried to bring them gifts and learn their ways.
As Harry sank deeper into slumber, the system's silent presence remained a steady companion. No new messages came, no sudden quests appeared. It simply waited, patient and impartial, ready to record his growth. And Harry, no longer alone in the dark, drifted into dreams filled with moonlight, soft fur, and whispered promises of a brighter future.
