Discimer: I don't own Harry Potter
A soft glow filtered through the forest canopy as night slipped silently into dawn on November 2, 1988. Harry stirred, half awake and still drained, his body protesting even the slightest movement. His limbs felt stiff; the faint stinging of half-healed bruises reminded him of his fragile state. He had slept tucked against the warm fur of the wolf pups, their soft breathing lulling him into a deeper, more restful sleep than he had known in years. Now, he became slowly aware that the night had passed without incident. The mother wolf, silent and watchful, must have kept vigil as he and the pups dozed.
He remained curled on a bed of dried leaves and moss, the scent of earth and fur thick in the enclosed den. The nine pups had surrounded him sometime during the night—he recalled drifting in and out of consciousness as they pressed closer. They were determined to keep him warm, their small bodies radiating comfort and affection that he could feel not just on his skin, but in the subtle emotional aura that surrounded them. Harry's empathic ability fred softly, sensing their concern, their protective instincts. They considered him the youngest of their litter now—an odd, hairless, two-legged pup who needed their closeness.
He blinked wearily, taking stock of his surroundings. The mother wolf, now revealed to him as Selyria by his quiet attempts to "Observe" her, had returned from a te-night patrol outside the den. She slipped in soundlessly, her massive silver form haloed by the first rays of dawn. With a slow, deliberate motion, she circled the gathered pups and Harry, pcing herself between them and the den's entrance. Her fur caught the faint light, silver and moon-kissed, as she settled down, wrapping her body around them all. It felt like a living shield, a mother's protective embrace made tangible.
Harry breathed in deeply, capturing the moment. He had never known parental warmth, never known what it felt like to be cherished. Yet now he was being sheltered by a creature that should have seen him as prey. His mind swirled with conflicting feelings: gratitude, disbelief, confusion. But mostly he felt safe. There was no harsh voice demanding chores, no rough hand shoving him into a cupboard. Instead, there was only gentle breathing, soft fur, and a low thrumming of comfort and acceptance.
He stirred slightly, trying not to disturb the pups. They were all female, he somehow sensed—nine daughters of the wild, each distinct in subtle ways. He decided to attempt his "Observe" skill again, focusing on them as individuals. Last night he had discovered his system—the strange inner interface that presented his life as a game. He closed his eyes, reached inward, and focused on the nearest pup. A faint greenish hue danced behind his eyelids, and a line of text shimmered into focus:
[Observe Lv.1: Target: Wolf Pup (Name: Ilfa, Female) – A young wolf pup approximately 3 months old. Healthy, curious, affectionate.]
He tried the next one:
[Target: Wolf Pup (Name: Myrren, Female) – A young wolf pup approximately 3 months old. Strong instincts, protective tendencies.]
He continued this quietly, marveling that the system seemed to know their names, or perhaps was assigning names to them that matched their essence. Each pup he focused on revealed a name: Taris, Eriwen, Selune, Aylin, Nythra, Vaerya, and Corlys. All females united in their sisterhood, and all now united with him. Their names sounded foreign and melodic like notes plucked from a distant star.
Finally, he turned his attention back to the mother wolf and tried his "Observe" skill on her once again. Last night he had only caught glimpses. This time he concentrated until the text steadied:
[Target: Giant Wolf (Name: Selyria, Female) – A mature wolf of unusual size and magical lineage. Strong maternal instincts, protective, intelligent, and empathetic. Selyria considers you part of her pack.]
Harry's heart swelled. Selyria. He mouthed the name silently, grateful he had something to call her now. He felt her shift slightly, curling the tip of her tail around him as though acknowledging his silent greeting.
As he y surrounded by this newfound family, the system stirred again in his mind. This time, he concentrated on summoning more of its features. He had noted that he had certain debuffs and curses afflicting him: severe malnourishment, magical bindings, and something dreadful called a "Horcrux." None of these terms meant much to him yet. He only knew that he felt weak and under some mysterious limitations. With a thought, he tried to open the "Menu."
A faint translucent window appeared in his mind's eye to his quiet delight. It was subtle, not blocking his vision of the real world, but overying it as if part of a dream:
[Main Menu:
Status
Skills
Inventory
Quests
Shop
Titles]
He had experimented slightly with "Status" and "Skills" before. Now he looked to "Quests" and "Shop," curious about what possibilities y hidden there. He selected "Quests."
A new window appeared:
[No current quests. You must complete tasks and survive in challenging conditions to gain System Coins and unlock more features. Your journey begins now.]
As if responding to his disappointment, a subtle chime sounded in his mind. A new prompt popped up:
[New Quest Generated!]
[Quest: Survive in the Wild (Part 1)Description: You have been abandoned in a magical forest and taken in by a wolf pack. Survive seven days without leaving their protection and adapt to your new environment. Objective: Survive 7 days (0/7)Optional Objective: Earn the trust and acceptance of the Pack Leader (Selyria).Rewards:
Base Reward: 50 System Coins
Optional Reward: 1 to all Attributes, additional 50 System Coins.]
Harry's lips parted in silent amazement. Seven days. Could he manage that? The thought of measuring time in days felt odd, but he had no choice. Surviving here seemed more possible than surviving with the Dursleys. At least here, he was cared for. He focused on the word "Pack Leader." Did that mean he hadn't fully earned Selyria's trust yet? He sensed that she had accepted him into the fold, but perhaps trust was something deeper.
He dismissed the quest screen and turned his attention to the "Shop." If he could earn System Coins, maybe he could buy something useful—food, clothing, maybe even something to help him understand this strange forest. Another translucent window opened, revealing a wide menu of categories:
[Shop Categories:
General Items
Consumables
Skills & Abilities
Multiverse Powers (Locked until higher levels)
Bloodlines & Energies (Locked until higher levels)
Artifacts (Locked)
Manuals (Locked)]
He selected "Skills & Abilities," curious to see what was avaible. Another submenu opened, and what he saw nearly took his breath away:
[Skills & Abilities:
Basic Survival Skills: 50 System Coins
Animal Empathy (Advanced): 500 System Coins
Language Comprehension (Low Tier): 1000 System Coins
Magical Core Stabilization: 10,000 System Coins
Chakra (Naruto-Verse): 100,000 System Coins
Ki (Dragon Ball-Verse): 250,000 System Coins
Reiryoku (Bleach-Verse): 300,000 System Coins
... and more]
Harry's eyes widened at the astonishing prices. He currently had zero System Coins. Just basic survival skills cost 50 coins, and he was expected to gather them how, exactly? The quest reward for surviving a week was 50 coins—just enough for something very basic. The powers from other worlds—Chakra, Ki, Reiryoku—were unimaginably expensive for him now. Still, the fact they existed filled him with a quiet thrill. He couldn't even fathom what he might become if he could access these strange energies. They sounded mystical, powerful—beyond anything he knew.
Back at the main Shop menu, he inspected the note about currency conversion. Maybe he could gather money somehow:
[Currency Conversion:1 Knut (Wizarding World) = 1 System Coin10 pence (Muggle Currency) = 1 System CoinOther currencies may apply. Exchange rates are subject to system evaluation.]
He had neither wizarding nor Muggle money on him, just rags on his back. Unless he stumbled upon a treasure, he would have to rely on completing quests and challenges. The system appeared geared towards making him struggle before granting power. He sighed softly, careful not to disturb the sleeping pups. Eriwen shifted, pressing her nose into his side as if comforting him unconsciously.
It was at that moment that Selyria raised her head and sniffed the air. Harry tensed, unsure what had caught her attention. She emitted a soft growl, low and rumbling, but the pups barely stirred. Whatever danger or curiosity lurked outside didn't seem urgent. Soon, she lowered her head, and Harry felt a gentle ripple of reassurance flow through his empathic sense. Everything was all right. Protected by Selyria's vigint presence, Harry rexed again.
A thought crossed his mind: He had a "Title" section in his menu. What was that about?
[Titles:
THE GAMER (Active):Grants users the ability to perceive life as a game. Provides Gamer's Mind and Gamer's Body as default perks.]
So he had a title. "The Gamer." It sounded strange but fitting. His life had become a game: attributes, skills, quests, a shop. Perhaps this meant he could grow, and evolve from this pitiful state. He had to if he ever wanted to break free of his weakness and the curses that bound him.
He closed his eyes and focused on Selyria's presence once more. He tried "Observe" on her again, hoping for more detail:
[Observe Lv.1 - Lv.2!]
A soft chime sounded in his mind. His skill had improved. He grinned silently. Observing repeatedly must have increased his skill level. He tried again:
[Target: Selyria – Giant Wolf (Alpha Female)
A powerful magical wolf with strong maternal instincts. She leads her pack and has accepted you as a surrogate pup. Selyria's magical lineage allows subtle protective wards, granting safety and warmth to her brood. Her trust is partial; she watches to see if you can adapt and prove yourself not a burden.]
Harry shivered. So that gentle, shielding presence was a ward of sorts—some protective magic emanating from Selyria. The forest suddenly felt less mundane. Maybe there was magic in the world beyond his understanding. The mention of wizarding currency had hinted at something extraordinary, and now Selyria's magical lineage confirmed it. He lived in a world where magic was real, and he himself was somehow restricted from accessing his full potential.
He tried to wiggle out from the pile of warm pups, careful not to wake them too abruptly. Ilfa stirred first, blinking sleepy golden eyes at him. He patted her head softly, marveling at how she accepted his touch. One by one, the pups woke, yawning with soft squeaks. Corlys rolled over onto her back, paws in the air. Nythra stretched nguidly and bumped her head into Harry's elbow. They seemed as affectionate as any human siblings might be, perhaps even more so.
Selyria rose to her feet and stepped outside the den. The morning light was brighter now, revealing a world of greens and gold as sunlight filtered through autumn leaves. Harry followed tentatively, and the pups scampered alongside, forming a loose circle around him. They looked like a living escort, nine furry guardians ensuring the safety of their strange, furless brother.
At the den's mouth, Selyria gnced back. Her eyes caught Harry's, and he felt a wave of reassurance. She wanted him to come out, to see the world. Harry followed, mindful of his bare feet on the forest floor. The soil was damp but not cold, and the moss cushioned his steps. He wandered a short distance from the den, always within sight of Selyria. His stomach grumbled; he was still hungry. Perhaps they would hunt again, though the thought of raw meat still unsettled him.
As he explored, Harry remembered his quest: survive seven days. Today was the start of the first full day since he'd discovered the system. If the timeline was correct, he had been abandoned two nights ago and had spent one full night in the wolves' care. Now he had six more days to go for the quest's completion. He wondered if smaller tasks might appear, granting him incremental rewards.
He focused on the "Quests" tab again:
[Current Quest: Survive in the Wild (Part 1)]
Day 1/7 (Survival in progress...)
No change yet. He sighed and gnced at the pups. They were romping around, chasing each other's tails, pying tug-of-war with a fallen branch. For a moment, Harry simply sat on a rock, watching them. He tried to sense their emotions: joy, curiosity, affection, hunger. They were becoming his family. It was an odd thought, but he cherished it.
Selyria padded off, likely hunting. The pups and Harry remained near the den. Without the mother present, the pups seemed more protective, clustering around him and guiding him back into the safer perimeter near their home. Ilfa gripped his ragged shirt sleeve in her teeth and gently tugged him towards the den. Harry chuckled softly at the gentle insistence. He let them corral him back inside.
Inside the den, in the dim light, Harry tried to organize his thoughts. He had a system that promised unimaginable growth. He had a quest that would give him his first System Coins. If he got those coins, maybe he could buy "Basic Survival Skills" and improve his chances. A strategic pn formed in his mind: Survive the seven days, earn 50 coins, purchase the survival skill, and become more adept at finding edible pnts or starting a fire. With time, he might earn more coins and buy "Animal Empathy (Advanced)," which might help him understand the wolves or communicate better. Eventually, he might unlock incredible powers, though that future seemed distant and dreamlike.
He gnced at his Stats. Did his condition improve at all?

Nothing much had changed. He noted that his survival skill was not listed as a trained skill. Perhaps he needed to purchase it or train it through experience. He also noted that "cold" was only a minor status, and surrounded by the pups it quickly faded. Their presence was quite literally warming him, both physically and emotionally.
A dull ache of hunger gnawed at his belly. Perhaps he should try to find something more patable than raw meat. Did the wolves eat berries or roots? Probably not, but maybe he could find something edible nearby. The pups would likely follow him if he tried. He crawled towards the den entrance, and as he expected, the pups came along. Vaerya took the lead this time, her tail held high. They didn't seem opposed to him exploring, as long as he stayed close.
They ventured just outside the den, sniffing at the undergrowth. Harry spotted a cluster of reddish berries near the base of a fern. He tried "Observe" on them:
[Observe Lv.2: Redthorn Berries – Common forest berries, slightly tart, edible, rich in Vitamin C. Low nutritional value but safe to eat in moderation.]
Relief washed over him. Edible berries! He reached out and plucked a few, popping them into his mouth. Their fvor was tart and a bit sour, but he kept them down. The pups sniffed at them curiously, uninterested. Wolves were carnivores by nature, but Harry needed whatever he could find. The berries wouldn't fill him up, but they helped soothe the worst of his hunger.
He spent the morning this way, gathering small handfuls of berries, and practicing "Observe" on random pnts. He discovered that some mushrooms were poisonous, some leaves had medicinal properties, and certain roots could be boiled to make a nourishing broth—if only he had the means to boil anything. Each successful identification made him feel more competent.
Around midday, Selyria returned. She carried a fresh kill—a rabbit—and presented it to the pups and Harry. The pups lunged in with eagerness, but Selyria herded them back, insisting on order. Harry hesitated, stomach twisting at the memory of raw meat. Still, he recalled his quest: survival. He needed protein and energy. He waited until the pups took their share and then timidly tore off a small piece. He chewed slowly, trying not to grimace. It tasted of blood and earth, primal and wild. Yet, after the initial revulsion, he realized it gave him strength. His body, so used to starvation, craved the nutrients. He forced himself to accept this reality, at least for now.
After eating, Harry felt a slight surge of energy. His limbs shook less when he stood. He decided to try something else with the system, focusing on "Titles" to see if there were others he could earn:
[Avaible Titles: None (All locked except THE GAMER)][Gain titles by achieving feats or completing special quests.]
So no new titles yet. He sighed softly, pcing a hand on Selune's head as she passed by. The pup wagged her tail. He listened to the forest's gentle hum, grateful for the calm.
As dusk approached, the temperature began to drop again. The pups formed a furry barricade around him, much as they had done before, pressing their bodies close. They were like nine living bnkets, breathing warmth and security. Selyria arranged herself at the den's entrance, her body a barrier against the cold wind. The world outside darkened, but inside their cozy home, Harry felt sheltered and safe.
He drifted in and out of thought, wondering about these magical bindings that restricted his power. Was he a wizard? The mention of Knuts and magical lineage suggested so. He tried to recall anything about his past that hinted at magic. He came up empty, just blurry memories of strange incidents and fierce punishments by the Dursleys. They hated anything abnormal, and Harry had always been abnormal.
But now he had a chance at a new life. He had a system, a family of wolves, and infinite possibilities—if he survived and earned enough resources. He closed his eyes, listening to the pups breathe, feeling Selyria's calming presence. He realized he didn't need all the answers right now. He just needed to make it through these seven days, gain some System Coins, and slowly unravel the mysteries of this world.
The night deepened, and the forest sang a lulby of rustling leaves and distant animal calls. Harry imagined that, somewhere beyond these woods, people lived ordinary lives, unaware of the boy who slept among wolves. He considered that he might never see the Dursleys again. The thought did not bring sadness—only relief.
As if sensing his mood, Nythra nuzzled his cheek, licking away a faint smear of berry juice. He chuckled, wrapping an arm around her. He sensed love and acceptance radiating from the pups. He might not understand their nguage, but he understood their hearts.
He took this quiet moment to revisit the Shop and dream of the future. One day, he might afford "Chakra" or "Ki," become a being of immense power, travel across multiverses. The idea was fantastical, almost absurd, yet the system presented it as fact. He imagined himself strong and confident, protecting his wolf family and exploring worlds beyond his wildest imagination. For now, it remained a distant goal, a spark of hope to cling to as he healed.
The quest counted the days. He had survived another full cycle, nearing the completion of his first day toward the seven-day target. Tomorrow, he would continue to learn about the forest, maybe find more edible pnts, maybe improve "Observe" again, and maybe even find a way to communicate with Selyria and the pups more effectively. He recalled the high price of "Language Comprehension," but maybe he wouldn't need that if he could pick up their cues naturally.
At some point in the dark hours, Selyria rose and repositioned herself. Harry opened one eye to see what was happening. The giant wolf moved gracefully, her fur catching the moonlight that trickled into the den. She stretched and then settled behind Harry and the pups, curling her body so that they were enclosed on all sides. It felt as if she had formed a living barricade, a gentle fortress of fur and muscle. Harry felt safe enough to fall into deeper sleep. As he did, his empathic sense caught a whisper of her intention: protect. He was treasured here, a precious pup that needed guarding.
The pups sensed this too. Without waking fully, they shifted around him, pressing tighter. Myrren draped a paw over his arm; Taris snuggled into his back. The others formed a circle, their bodies creating a womb of warmth. It was as though the pack knew that he was fragile, that he needed their presence not just physically but emotionally. At that moment, Harry realized that even without words, they understood each other.
Sleep came easily. He dreamed not of cramped cupboards and harsh voices, but of moonlight and soft fur, of gentle breaths and quiet acceptance. He dreamed of a world where kindness was given freely, where he could grow and learn without fear.
The night passed peacefully. At some point, Harry stirred and opened his eyes, half-expecting to see a notification from the system. As if reading his thoughts, the interface appeared in his mind:
[Day 1 of 7 survived. Keep going!]
Only one day is done, and six to go. He allowed himself a small smile. He could do this. Slowly but surely, he would grow stronger.
When morning light came again, he would try new things. Perhaps he could practice stealth outside the den, and improve that skill. Maybe he could attempt to find more nutritious food or learn to prepare the meat in a less revolting way. He had all the time in the world now, no Dursleys yelling at him, no chores that broke his spirit. Everything he did now was for himself and his new family.
He closed his eyes again, savoring the feel of the pups around him, Selyria's steady presence, and the quiet hum of the forest. The system's promise of power and freedom flickered in the back of his mind, but for now, he treasured this simple warmth.
