Discimer: I don't own Harry Potter
It was November 9, 1988, and the forest had changed subtly in the week since Harry's first frantic days among the wolf pack. The air had grown colder, biting at his exposed skin, and the scents of decaying leaves had shifted to the crisp smell of distant ice. Dawn's light tinted the treetops a muted gold, and as Harry stepped from the wolves' den, he noticed the first delicate snowfke drifting zily through the still air before settling soundlessly on the mossy ground. Winter was coming.
The pack had flourished in this time, and Harry with it. Selyria, the mother wolf, moved with the same regal grace, yet Harry noticed how she stayed closer to home these days, as if aware that gathering storms might soon make travels more difficult. Luna, her loyal companion, had become a second guardian to them all. The pups—Ilfa, Myrren, Taris, Eriwen, Selune, Aylin, Nythra, Vaerya, and Corlys—had grown a little rger and more confident. They raced around Harry's legs, tails wagging, determined never to let him stray too far again. He felt a deep bond with these sisters now, a sense of unshakable loyalty and love that calmed his once fearful heart.
Harry had survived the full seven days of his original quest—"Survive in the Wild (Part 1)." When the seventh day passed, the system rewarded him with a soft chime in his mind's ear. He remembered the notification well:
[Quest Complete! Survive in the Wild (Part 1): 7/7 Days
Base Reward: 50 System CoinsOptional Objective (Gain Pack Leader's Trust): Completed!Additional Reward: +1 to All Attributes, +50 System Coins]
It was a triumph that made him smile. He had not only survived, he had thrived under the wolves' care. His attributes had all improved slightly, and he now possessed 100 System Coins total. With these new resources, he had considered buying "Herbal Remedies (Basic Knowledge)" from the Shop—an ability to help him heal the pack if needed. But he decided to hold off for a moment and explore what else the system offered. He wanted to understand more before spending his precious coins.
The past week had also brought discoveries. Harry learned to manage his "Observe" skill, which had leveled a few more times, providing more details on pnts and animals. He had practiced stealth in the woods, gathering edible roots and berries, and had grown stronger and less fearful. He was still malnourished, but nowhere near as critically as before. Regur meals of fresh meat, supplemented by berries, fish, and even the occasional edible mushroom, had begun to fill him out. He still looked small and frail compared to a normal eight-year-old, but he did not feel so near to colpse.
Today, however, presented a new challenge. The sudden chill made him shiver, his threadbare rags doing nothing to insute him. Winter was upon them, and while the wolves had thick fur coats suited for the cold, Harry's human body was far more vulnerable. He would need clothing, something warm and protective. He had seen the wolves bring in kills with thick pelts. If he could somehow fashion those furs into clothing, he might survive the coming snows. But how?
He was no stranger to menial tasks—he had been forced to do countless chores at the Dursleys'. Sewing in particur had been one of the many tasks thrust upon him whenever Dudley's clothes needed mending. He had never thought about it before, but he must have developed that skill to a high degree. The system considered everything a skill, didn't it? If so, maybe he already had "Sewing" as a skill. The thought made him curious. He focused inward and summoned his Status screen, flipping through his Skills tab. He had Cooking (MAX), Cleaning (MAX), and Gardening (MAX) from his time at the Dursleys, as well as some Novice-level wilderness skills. But no Sewing skill was listed, at least not yet. Perhaps he needed to perform the action to trigger it.
He gnced back at the den. Inside, the pups were gnawing on leftover bones from the previous night's meal. He caught the eye of Vaerya, who wagged her tail encouragingly. They understood he was cold; he had shivered enough times. Maybe they would let him use some leftover hides from their kills. He bowed his head respectfully to Selyria, who was resting near the entrance. She chuffed softly, giving him permission to scavenge what he needed.
He found a corner of the den where the wolves had dragged in old pelts and scraps. Some were still bloody, but others were cleaner, half-dried. He selected a supple rabbit skin and a piece of deer hide, hoping to stitch them together into something wearable. He needed a needle and thread. Thinking back on his childhood, he remembered making a needle from a piece of sharpened bone once, under the Dursleys' cruel supervision—though that memory was hazy, more a concept than a clear recollection. He searched the inventory of bones left from meals. Carefully, he picked out a thin, strong bone and scraped it against a rock until it formed a pointed tip. For thread, he used long sinews pulled from the deer's leg, twisting them together. It was primitive, but it might work.
Just as he was about to begin sewing, he remembered the system had mentioned an Inventory feature. He had not yet tried it. If the system allowed him to store items, it would make carrying tools and ingredients far easier. He focused inward, thinking "Open Inventory."
A translucent grid appeared in his mind. It showed empty slots, each capable of holding items. Tentatively, he touched the rabbit skin—and it vanished from his hand, appearing in the inventory slot as a small icon. Excitement welled up inside him. He tried it again with the deer hide, the bone needle, the sinew thread—each item disappeared from the physical world and reappeared neatly in his Inventory. He felt no weight from them now, as if they were stored in a dimension of their own. To retrieve an item, he focused on its icon, and it popped back into his hand in reality. Incredible.
Delighted, Harry organized the materials in his Inventory, then retrieved them again and spread them on the den floor. The pups gathered around, curious. Myrren sniffed at the needle, Eriwen pawed at the sinew. Harry shooed them back gently and set to work. He pced one hide atop the other, aligning the edges. Carefully, he pushed the bone needle through the hide, pulling the sinew tight. His hands moved with surprising confidence and skill. As he threaded stitch after stitch, a soft chime echoed in his mind:
[New Skill Created: Sewing (MAX) – Derived from forced bor under the Dursleys, your sewing skill is at mastery level. You can create, repair, and customize garments from various materials with remarkable efficiency.]
Harry ughed quietly at the absurdity. The Dursleys had unintentionally given him extraordinary domestic skills. He continued working, and under his deft fingers, the scraps of hide began to take shape. He fashioned a crude but serviceable tunic, with a hole for his head and slits for his arms, adding extra yers of hide to create insution. He did the same for a pair of leg wrappings, tying them securely with sinew. When he finished, he slipped them on, wriggling his toes and fingers to test the fit. The clothing was not perfect, but it already held in more warmth than his ragged shirt and shorts. The pups wagged their tails in approval, and Selyria, observing from a distance, seemed quietly pleased.
He had discovered so many useful features of the system in the past few days. Now that he had finished a pressing task—making rudimentary winter clothes—he turned his attention to another new feature he had recently unlocked: Gacha. A small icon in the system menu hovered at the edge of his vision, enticing him with the promise of random rewards. He had not dared try it before, uncertain if it would cost coins he could not spare. But when he focused on it, a message appeared:
[System Gacha: First Spin Free!]
Free was good. He wondered what he could get. The Shop was expensive, and maybe the Gacha could give him something valuable. He confirmed his intention to spin the Gacha. In his mind's eye, a wheel appeared, adorned with symbols he did not recognize—some looked like strange runes, others like stylized animals or objects. With a thought, he spun the wheel. It turned silently, faster and faster, until at st it slowed and stopped, the pointer hovering over a golden symbol he could not decipher.
[Congratutions! You have obtained the Ultimate Prize: Skill Creator!]
Harry's eyes widened. The Ultimate Prize? He opened the description, curiosity burning inside him.
[Skill Creator: A rare and powerful ability that allows you to gain new skills through repeated actions more easily, combine existing skills within the same category to create advanced composite skills, and develop unique abilities that blend your talents. Essentially, with Skill Creator, every repetitive action, every experiment with your abilities, can spark the birth of new and powerful skills.]
This was extraordinary. He had been steadily improving through the system's natural progression, but this would accelerate his growth dramatically. He could combine his domestic skills (Cooking, Cleaning, Gardening, Sewing) into a broader "Homemaking" skill, or merge observation and foraging into a specialized "Field Analysis" skill. The possibilities were endless. Even combat-reted skills, if he ever developed them, could be enhanced or fused. He felt a surge of hope and excitement. With Skill Creator, he might one day become strong enough to protect his pack, heal their wounds, and contribute in ways he had never imagined.
He spent the next few hours experimenting. Using his "Observe" skill and his foraging knowledge, he tried to combine them into a single skill. He observed a cluster of mushrooms, then picked them, studied their properties, and tried to analyze them deeper. The system responded with a quiet chime:
[By continuously applying Observe and Foraging in tandem, you have created a new skill: Resource Analysis (Novice). This skill allows you to identify resources, their properties, and potential uses more easily than Observe or Foraging alone.]
Harry grinned. It worked. He had created a new skill. This synergy might help him identify the best materials for clothing, medicine, or even tools. He wondered what else he could do. Could he merge Sewing and something else to create a new skill line focused on crafting clothing and gear? He tried combining Sewing with Foraging and Resource Analysis by examining different pnt fibers, testing their durability, then weaving them into the hide clothes. After several attempts, he received another notification:
[New Skill Created: Primitive Tailoring (Novice). You can now craft more sophisticated garments, harnessing natural materials from your environment. Primitive Tailoring integrates your Sewing, Resource Analysis, and Foraging skills to select the best materials and stitch them into functional, if rudimentary, apparel.]
It was working beautifully. Harry imagined future scenarios: blending herbal knowledge with cooking and gardening to create potions or salves. Or combining stealth, empathy, and observation to gain a skill that let him approach animals gently, befriending them without startling. The Skill Creator opened countless doors.
The pups continued to watch him curiously. They sensed his excitement. Aylin and Taris brought him small sticks and leaves, as if offering raw materials for his experiments. He thanked them softly, petting their heads. They yipped happily. Over the past week, he had learned to appreciate these small gestures of kindness. The wolves might not understand the system, but they understood care and cooperation.
Outside, the snowfkes were coming down more frequently now, drifting zily into the clearing. The forest turned quiet, muffled by the gentle fall of snow. Harry stepped outside to test his new clothing in the cold. He shivered less this time. The hide tunic and leg wrappings offered some insution. He might need gloves and boots next. Leatherworking would be another skill he could try to cultivate. With Skill Creator, he could integrate sewing and resource analysis to craft better-fitting garments. Perhaps he could even design a hooded cloak against the wind.
As he stood there, Selune trotted up and nudged his leg, whining softly. Harry kneeled down and tried "Observe" on her again, even though he knew her well. He wanted to see if the skill revealed anything new at a higher level.
[Selune: A young female wolf pup, healthy and curious. She trusts you completely. No injuries, mild hunger. Likes the sound of your humming and the warmth of your hands.]
Harry smiled warmly. He had started humming tunes from memory when working, and apparently Selune noticed. He realized he was forging something beyond survival here—he was building a life. The pack had integrated him into their rhythms, and he had accepted them as family.
He returned to the den and found a quiet corner. He wanted to check the Shop again, now that he had new powers and some coins. With winter approaching, healing knowledge might soon become essential. Wolves could get injured slipping on ice or catching prey in deep snow. Harry opened the Shop menu and navigated to Healing abilities.
[Shop: Herbal Remedies (Basic Knowledge) – 50 System Coins]
He had 100 coins. Buying this would leave him with 50. That would still give him some purchasing power ter. He confirmed the purchase, and a rush of information flowed into his mind. Suddenly, he understood how to identify certain herbs, how to grind leaves into poultices, and how to bind wounds with simple bandages. He remembered Greenfern Leaves and how they could prevent infection. Now he had a basic framework to treat minor injuries and illnesses. Perfect.
With the Skill Creator at his disposal, he tried combining Herbal Remedies with Resource Analysis. After gathering a few herbs he had recently identified and examining them carefully, he received another prompt:
[New Skill Created: Herbal Medicine Crafting (Novice) – You can now craft basic herbal remedies, combining pnts and natural resources for increased healing effects.]
Excellent. Already, he was becoming more valuable to the pack. He could gather medicinal herbs, treat small wounds, and ensure everyone stayed healthy through the winter months.
Luna approached him, carrying in her mouth a rge piece of deer hide. She dropped it at his feet and nudged it with her nose, as if indicating he should do something with it. Harry understood immediately: Luna wanted him to make more clothing, perhaps for additional warmth or padding in the den. The pups crowded around, curious and expectant. Harry nodded, gathering the hide into his Inventory. With a thought, he retrieved his bone needle and sinew thread. He began to stitch the hide into rger pieces that could serve as bnkets or windbreaks at the den's entrance.
As he worked, he considered what other system features he might discover. He had found Inventory, Gacha, and Skill Creator. The Shop and Quests he knew well. Perhaps, in time, he would unlock a crafting interface or a more advanced skill management screen. For now, he was content to explore at his own pace.
The clothing and bnkets took shape quickly, his Sewing (MAX) skill making each stitch precise. The pups tried lying on the finished bnket even before he finished tying the st knot. They rolled around happily, enjoying the softness. Harry ughed and pulled them off gently to complete his work. Once done, he draped the new hide bnket near the den's entrance, insuting it from the creeping cold.
As evening approached, the forest grew quieter still. The snow falling outside gave the den a cozy feel. The wolves began to settle for the night. Harry shared a meal with them—Selyria and Luna had brought back a hare and a few fish. Harry took a small portion, carefully cooked it over a makeshift fire pit he had constructed outside using flint stones he'd discovered (gathered after repeated attempts, unlocking a rudimentary "Firestarting (Novice)" skill), and returned inside with warm, lightly cooked meat. The wolves did not mind him cooking his portion; they preferred raw meat anyway. This small adaptability showed the harmony of their group: each could meet their needs in their own way.
When everyone had eaten, Harry sat against the den's wall, wrapped in his new hide tunic. The pups clustered around him, forming their usual protective circle. He stroked Eriwen's head gently, feeling her soft fur under his fingers. She closed her eyes, tail wagging zily. He was their Omega, yes, but also their brother, caretaker, and friend. He contributed not just to their food supply, but to their comfort and care. In return, they gave him protection, companionship, and unconditional love.
He opened his Status screen one more time to review his progress:

He had come a long way from the trembling boy abandoned in the woods. Now he had clothes, shelter, and the beginnings of a versatile skill set. The future felt more hopeful than ever.
Snow continued to fall softly, piling on the ground outside the den. The pack grew drowsy, their full bellies and warm surroundings lulling them into rest. Harry yawned, feeling the pups cuddle closer. He considered what tomorrow might bring. Perhaps he could refine his clothing designs, add boots and gloves. Or explore the forest to find medicinal mushrooms and rare herbs. With Skill Creator, he might develop completely new abilities that would help them all.
He imagined a future where he could communicate more directly with Selyria, where he might understand the subtle signals and barks that Luna used. He still didn't know if he could fully grasp their nguage, but he understood their hearts. For now, that was enough.
Before drifting to sleep, he hummed a quiet tune, a lulby he half-remembered. The pups sighed contentedly. Outside, the wind was picking up, and winter had truly arrived. But inside the den, Harry's new family formed a living wall of warmth and love, their bodies pressed protectively around him. He had never felt safer.
He thought of the system once more, grateful that it had given him the tools to survive and thrive. The Dursleys had tried to break him, but in doing so, they had unwittingly forged skills now invaluable to him. He had Sewing (MAX), Cooking (MAX), and more. The wolves gave him purpose and belonging, the system gave him direction and empowerment, and he himself provided the will and determination to grow stronger every day.
In the silence of that snowy night, Harry closed his eyes and whispered a silent thank you—to the wolves, to the forest, to the system that guided him. He had found a life here worth fighting for, worth cherishing. The future stretched out before him like an unbroken path in fresh snow, each step an adventure, each day a chance to become more than he ever thought possible.
