CHAPTER 237 **More of the Same**

After another five minutes of letting them speak and answering any questions, Matilda then separated the emperors from the golden heirs, by making the heirs stand at the front, and made them pick out numbers so to just help the emperors know another way to know them.

The numbers also helped in times when they were going to do some type of ‘interview’ with them and well, how to pick who’d they’d fight with…If they were really doing fighting…

Matilda nodded, yes, this was good…

Now the emperors will know who the horses really are! It was probably confusing until now who of them were actually trying to become the next golden emperor, but now they will know!

Finally, Matilda felt like she had done something right!

In fact, some were quite shocked to see a few ‘known’ golden heirs not go up there, as well as a few were shocked to see one or two go up there!

The Blue Haven Emperor frowned to not seeing Matthew go up there, but he was also questioning why Kin had not gone too. On the other hand, Christian was openly gring at his son, Austin! Until this moment he had not thought Austin was there for this reason!

“Why aren’t you getting a number, boy?” The Blue Haven Emperor asked Matthew.

“I am not interested in becoming the Golden Emperor, Your Majesty.” Matthew easily stated.

“…Why not?” The Blue Haven Emperor asked.

Nate came in then, throwing a piece of fruit from one hand to another, “He thinks it’s a lot of work…”

“It is boy! Not fit for someone like you!” The Blue Haven Emperor stated.

“How would you know!?” Nate gred at him, “Besides, for being the most powerful in the world I understand that it’ll have its work to come along with it!”

It was written all over Nate’s face that he ‘wasn’t stupid’…

The Blue Haven Emperor gred back, “What is your first thoughts of either preventing flooding or helping with it? The big storm that comes around every year, what are preventive measurements? What about knowing for sure that your heir is in fact your heir and not someone else’s!? How would you deal with that!?”

Nate narrowed his eyes, “It isn’t like I would have to figure out all this on my own! I would not only be the emperor of emperors, but I would also have my own people! Besides, it isn’t like these types of things are happening for a first time!”

The Blue Haven Emperor took a step closer to him, “Oh? So, we have found an absolute prevention of stopping our so-called children of being someone else’s!?”

Nate looked away, it was indeed an obvious problem to this day. If he had not gone to the extent of going to many havens and doing that, it probably wouldn’t have been brought up right now…That act of this was indeed becoming quite a burden…But how was he to know that now, in the future, there’d be a meeting like this happening?

After that small encounter, Nate went back to being silent and trying to pick up some lost ground with some emperors that may have already been leaning towards picking him.

Ultimately numbers didn’t really work at this moment, because some of the golden heirs were starting to fight for the number ‘one’.

“Are you going to stop them?” The Red Haven Emperor asked.

Matilda turned to him and shook her head, “The race has already started, if they want to stuff up their potential by showing this side of themselves then that’s their fault!”

Smirking, the Red Haven Emperor went back to watching the so called ‘race’.

Not everyone thought it was like that, but some got the idea that indeed Matilda was letting the golden heirs show who they were without even lifting a finger…It was already a test…

“You are smart, little one.” The Blue Haven Emperor stated, coming up to the other side of her, making Matthew upset to have been pushed a bit away.

“Not really…I’m just trying to be…Well, whatever…” Matilda sighed and scratched her head.

She knew she wasn’t really that smart. She wasn’t some genius like other transmigrators that she used to read about, but she did have some sort of talent that could help with this type of situation…And that was being creative in being one track minded…Or something like that.

If the golden heirs were showing something in any way to help or otherwise with their potential as leaders, Matilda was going to try and let them show it! That was all…

Matthew came up from behind Matilda and possessively put hands around her, even though some people looked at him in a bit of shock.

“To be so…Close…Are you not worried he is being too possessive?” The Blue Haven Emperor asked quietly.

Matilda smiled back at him and held onto Matthew’s hands, obviously accepting his embrace, “I love him for who he is, and we are happy. Isn’t that all that really matters?”

The Blue Haven Emperor smiled, he was getting old and did treasure some memories more than others. “Indeed.”

On the other hand, The Red Haven Emperor looked away with questions in his mind. It really was an eye opener, coming to Golden Haven…

Many had already seen different things, like that of the earth making a pce to keep them sheltered by the storm. They had seen the golden words change, the ‘spiritual essence’ memory from god knows how long ago! Now, they are seeing two people so normally ‘humiliatingly’ close yet somewhat understand their words upon why they are so.

Could it really be ok to show such affection in front of others?

Before they could question more into it though, it seems that the golden heirs had taken in who was watching them and started to mature up. They finally finished getting their numbers!

“I’ll get you to be in order please, Matilda stated, then walked out front to them, away from the ‘emperor crowd’.

Putting up a big, straight wall to the side, out of nowhere, Matilda then wrote who was who with what number they had.

It seemed that the golden heirs had felt a bit upset that they been watched as their immaturity had been shown, well the heirs that had fought over the early numbers that is…The golden heirs that had not fought were only waiting for the next instructions.

After Matilda finished, she turned to all of them, “If you don’t mind, take a seat and I will go through them, telling you about what they have achieved and perhaps if they have a talent or two. I will also tell you what they are up to in cultivation and what they are cultivating. The information will then be put up on this wall, just in case you forget or get confused.”

The chairs were still there from breakfast but had been taken away from the tables and brought closer to one another.

“I hope you can endure through holding hands for when I show you their memories, but it is the easiest way…”

Some faces looked at her and rolled their eyes or narrowed them in scorn. They hadn’t really liked it the first time that she had made them do this! It just seemed so…Childish…A few rarely would even touch the hand of their lovers, so being forced to touch another’s hand now felt incredibly uncomfortable!

As much as Matilda wanted to be done with this particur part of the ‘race’, it wasn’t to be so. Some golden heirs were complete in just five minutes, but a few took half an hour or so.

The golden heir that used to be from Red Haven, but had been found out, had not much of a story to tell, so forgoing the ‘race’ was on the tip of his tongue, now that he was seeing others in a new light.

Nate took a long time, as he was not only older but had done a lot…Hell, he was father to many there and already had a past with a few of the emperors! But his memories that were being shown included that of his cruelty as he had killed his other golden kin. He wasn’t the only one, the others, if they had it, had shown it too…With or without their consent.

“I didn’t…Why are you showing them that?”

Matilda looked at Nate squarely, “So what if I do?”

“Has it anything to do with my becoming the new golden emperor? We are all human and full of faults, why show them something that happened a long time ago?”

Looking at the crowd, Matilda frowned, “Do you really not understand that what we go through makes us who we are today? If I don’t show them how you became the person you are, how can they make a sound judgement? It didn’t take long and it’s…”

Nate interrupted her by whispering, “I don’t care! No longer show them anything bad about me!”

Staring at Nate, Matilda said nothing for a moment.

He was probably the worst one, in the way of having such a past, but…

Well, it’s not like she hadn’t showed nothing, people had already seen some of his memories and how he had dealt with certain issues.

“Very well, I will not show them more. Next!” Matilda stepped away from Nate and looked at the next one.

“Wait…I’m sure I’ve done more than that!” Nate stated, not budging.

“Oh? But how will we tell, if I can’t show them anything ‘bad’? Nate, I know you grew up with in a strange way, but you have been able to make choices on your own for so long that even showing your recent choices shows the same as your choices back then…It’s just more of the same…”

He shook his head in confusion, “Woman! What are you saying!?”

Matilda frowned and looked at Matthew, could he put in a way that made sense?

Matthew came forward a step, not being far away, and said, “I believe Matilda is stating that whatever you have done that she hasn’t shown the golden emperors, is very simir to what she has already shown them. That most of your ‘talent’ or ‘cultivating’, most of your thoughts and actions, it stems from being greedy and selfish.”

For those who hadn’t quite understood, Matthew’s quick and simple statement made everyone look at Nate once again, thinking that it was probably right…

Nate could only get up quietly and move back. He looked up at the emperors and could only look away once again. He wasn’t happy!

He had achievements that none other here had done! He had brought two haven’s armies together as one! He had the three haven’s emperors at one stage accepting him as the new golden emperor! Who else here had done that!?

But it was all a different game pn now! Indeed, it was, and Nate had to figure out what this ‘game pn’ was, so that he could overcome it and be on top!

It was not long after that that lunch was served and so they no longer were doing business…That’s what it was, wasn’t it? A business meeting?

Whatever it was, all of them felt less pressure when they were able to stop touching one another and drift further apart!

About two thirds of the golden heirs had been done now, in at least in this part of the ‘race’, and so Matilda felt pretty happy.

It wasn’t easy to concentrate and only show parts of the golden heir that mattered to the emperors. She didn’t want secrets to come out when they didn’t need to and well…Some of them had some really dark secrets!

Nate was probably the most obvious secret, having fathered a few of them, but there were other dark secrets too!

One particur golden heir had taken a great achievement from another, buying them off, among other smaller achievements from others. Another golden heir had even gone as far as killing another child of the royal family!

What was the line of what to show and what not to show!

…Especially when some past actions might lead to an even bigger mess!
