“Murderer” the crowd whispers as they see David Matchworth, the former Patriarch and colleague, escorted to a makeshift cell under heavy guard. It is the first time in the eons since humanity started their journey through the dead womb of space, that a homicide has been committed. They whisper the word like an airborne disease, a foreign concept as alien as the creatures that inhabit planet Earth below. Maybe it is a disease. Maybe the war for the one habitable planet in the Milky Way has poisoned their minds.
