It is the year 990 AC. Earth is dead, forever claimed by the Calamity. Stars are unreachable, forever denied to human ambition. The surviving humans inhabit cylinder habitats, hollow worlds constructed inside moons and asteroids, and worship the very technology their ancestors created.
