Chapter 12

Crimson red eyes and midnight black hair. A small, lithe frame, and as she smiled at me, I saw the fangs in her mouth.

“AW SICK! You’re a vampire!” My eyes sparkled, and I quickly exposed my neck to her. “Turn me! Turn me!”

“Ho?” Her eyes glinted. “That’s a reaction I haven’t gotten before.” She stopped as she reached me. “Aren’t you scared?”

“Hell no! I love vampires! Now turn me!”

If I became a vampire, I would immediately grow in strength. Sure, it was a cheat way to achieve my goal, but it was only fair. After all, I was the only person in the world that was as weak as I was. So, getting a power boost was only fair.

“Hmmm.” She looked me up and down as if to gauge me.

“Come on,” my eyes glowed softly as they narrowed in a smile. “Don’t tease me like that.” I exposed my neck even more. “Bite me already.” I watched as she bit her lip before breaking eye contact.

“Tempting,” she said. “Very tempting. Very tempting.”

“Don’t tell me you’re actually thinking about making him your-“

“Maybe.” The guild master cut the receptionist off. “There’s something about him that’s…intriguing.”

“Come on!” I was begging now, and I lowered myself to her height. “Don’t tease me like th-AGH!” Nia sucker-punched me in the gut and knocked the wind from my lungs as she hissed at me. “Wh-What…did I…do...?”

“You know what you did!” Nia spat before turning to the guild master. “He’s mine!”

  “Oh….my stomach…!” I nearly gagged as I spoke.

“Is he?” The guild master asked with a cocked head. “I don’t see a mark.” She smiled.

  “HISSSSK!”

  “I…can’t breathe…!”

“My. My. Defensive, are we?” She chuckled.

“Stay away from him, you dream sucker!”

“Dream sucker!” The guild master gasped. “I’m no dream sucker! That’s a succubus! I’m a vampire!”

  “God…help me…!”

“That demeanor is unbecoming of you, Sabrina.” The receptionist scolded.

“You’re right, Erza. Apologies.” Sabrina sighed softly before looking at me. “I haven’t seen you before. You must be new around here.”

  “Just….kill me…”

“We are,” Nia answered for me, seeing as I was still unable to.

I swore she hit me with her full strength, and I wished it would have killed me. Leave it to my shitty luck stat to keep me alive, only to suffer. I still didn’t know her cause for hitting me so hard. Had I purchased a sadistic kitten? If I did, I wanted my refund!

That was a joke. There was nothing Nia could have done to ever warrant me getting rid of her. I would just have to talk to her after this was all done. Or after I caught my breath. Whatever came first.

Sabrina looked Nia up and down before responding. “You’re a slave, yes?”

“I’m his.” Nia’s eyes narrowed, her tail swaying.

  “I…think it’s getting better…”

“Yeah. Yeah.” Sabrina waved a hand. “I suppose that means you’re part of his party.”

  “I am.”

“And I assume you two aren’t registered with the guild?”

  “No.”

“Then,” Sabrina smiled wide. “Let’s get you-”

“No.” Nia scowled. “I think we’ll register with a different guild.”

  “WHA!” Sabrina exclaimed.

“I don’t like the way you look at my Master.” The pain had subsided at this point, and I could breathe again. I only stood there awkwardly.

I felt out of place. I technically wasn’t part of the conversation, seeing as how the entire time I had been bitching about my pain to no end. However, it also seemed like Nia had made up her mind, and there was no way I would upset her again.

“I say let them,” Erza remarked. “I don’t want a filthy man or a disgraced Beastkin in this guild.”

I saw Nia stiffen briefly. Pain filled her eyes as she looked to the ground, her hair covering her eyes. A fire lit in my stomach, and I made my way towards Erza, the air around me dark.

  “What do you-“

“I thought I told you,” my lip raised in a snarl, and my eyes glowed an odious yellow as I leaned closer so our faces were only inches apart. “To watch your fucking mouth.”

She could say what she wanted about me. All of it would have been right. She could call me weak, pathetic, a degenerate, or whatever else she saw fit, but I refused to let her speak about Nia like that. I refused to let anyone!

Anyone who dared to hurt my precious cat girl would suffer severely. I didn’t care if I was weak physically. I would destroy them verbally and emotionally.

Erza shivered as her eyes widened. I thought that fear filled them for a moment, but I couldn’t confirm as she averted her gaze and took a step back.

  “How did you-”

“I told you,” Sabrina said as she stepped toward me. “He’s intriguing.”

“So you want some sucky sucky?”

“Ew. Don’t say it like that.” Sabrina giggled as she slapped my chest.

“GAH!” I was flung backward and into the receptionist counter. The scrolls and books rattled before falling on my head and to the floor.

W-Why is everyone looking at me?

The entire guild had their eyes on me. They were giving me strange looks. I immediately knew what they were thinking, and my nerves kicked in.

“S-S-Stop staring!” My face turned blue. “I’m gonn-HUGH! I’m gonna-“

“Master?” Nia grabbed onto my arm. “Are you…okay?” Her eyes stared worriedly into mine, and I felt all my fears washed away in her ocean green.

My eyes widened as they glowed, casting a soft, golden light on her face as I replied. “I am now.” Her purrs grew in volume, and I felt her claws kneading on my arm. “Are you marking me with your scent?” I joked.

That was what kneading was, after all. Cats had scent glands on their paws, so if they ever kneaded on you, they were scent-marking you. She didn’t have paws, but I figured it would be a funny joke.

Her smile grew, exposing her pearly white canines. “Do you…want me to?”
