Chapter 38
(Two birds; One Stone)
Megan’s POV
I was still trying to catch some sleep when I heard the sound of my room door opening. Is Oscar back, I thought, or is it him?
I sat up on the bed, staring intently at the door as it gave way for the intruder to come in. But nothing came in, and that got me puzzled.
Trying to remain bold, I cleared my throat and voice out my mind
“Who the hell is there?” I yelled out, believing that the door could not just open without being touched, and I made sure it was locked.
“Oscar?” I called, trying to be sure he wasn’t the one playing tricks on me
“It’s I…you don’t have to be afraid,” A voice stated, as I gasped, turning my attention towards the sound of the voice. And right there, close to my window, he stood firmly and fearless, staring down at me with those fierce eyes, which were looking calm now. I pulled the blanket closer to my body, trying not to be intimidated by him anymore
“What the hell do you want from me…huhnn…ain’t you tried for frustrating my life, aren’t you tired?” I yelled with all my might, as tears threatened to roll out of my eyes. He didn’t say a word as he kept looking at me with his hands tucked into his pockets.
“I ain’t tired of looking after you. You shouldn’t be scared of me,” He replied as I let out a frightened laughter.
“What the hell..do you mean by I shouldn’t be scared when you clearly wanted to rip out my head off my neck earlier today” I snapped, forcing boldness into my system, even though I am as freighted as a fish
I noticed his frown; well, his temple was squeezed in the form that shows that he did frown because the lower part of his face is covered with a mask.
“What do you mean” he asked, coming to sit on the bed
“Don’t come any closer” I yelled, bringing out a pen knife from beneath my blanket, as I pointed it to his face. He smirked, keeping his distance
“For the last time, I am asking, what do you want from me? I thought we had a deal that I had carried out. I have given you the book, so what else” I panicked. The nightmares I have been having since the first one are really scary, and I’m always reminded of going back to collect the book. But I don’t want to get involved in any of these
“And I’m asking you, what happened earlier today” He resorted to another question
“You really want me to tell you that….” I paused remembering the features of the man I saw; he also wasn’t putting on a mask, which clearly states that I was wrong. The man sitting in front of me isn’t the one who came after me; then who was after my life? I thought as the knife slowly dropped from my hand, which wasn’t my doing anyway. He actually pulled it out.
The aura around him always screams power and sometimes danger. But right now, I don’t know what to feel.
“We are leaving…go pick up some things that you believe are important to you” he stated, as I felt my stomach crumble. What the hell is he talking about?
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“Wha…what do you mean?” I asked timidly
“You heard me..I won’t repeat myself,” He stated, and this pissed me off. I stood up on the bed, looking down at him with clearly nothing but pure anger. Who does he think he is, to give me orders?
“No..no…you are the one leaving this house right now…what the….damn..how on earth did I get to meet a beast in my lifetime. Just leave me alone, you beast” I spat, and I could swear that I saw a spark of anger in his eyes, but he covered it with a frown
“Don’t push me to the wall, human…just do as I say, or I'll take you away in a rough manner,” he gritted. My heart almost ceased as I saw a flash of his claws. The feeling of fear, rush into me like a rushing wind, sending ice shivers down my spine. I felt like peeing on my pants, as a pang of headache hits my head. What is going on with me, why am I feeling this uneasy?
I looked down at my hand and was in time to see the little feathery tattoo glowing alongside his eyes. The feather glows brightly, lighting the whole room, as I shut my eyes, my body shivering. I fluttered it open to see him staring at me with a shocked, or, should I say confused look. His eyes were no more glowing, but I still wasn’t myself.
“What the hell is going on..what are you doing to me” I yelled, holding my head with my two hands, as the headache wasn’t ready to leave
“Don’t push it…just remain calm…” I heard him say, but it only sounded faintly. The room was turning upside down; I fell to my knees, shutting my eyes tight.
“You will be ok” He muttered again. I felt his hand on my hair, rubbing it gently, and that kinda ease the headache; I heaved a forceful sigh of relief before slumping into unconsciousness.

Lazarus’ POV
I watched in confusion as she started behaving strangely. I had planned to come during when she might have slept off, and then take her away unaware like I had done the other time. But I decided to let her know that I would be taking her with me; it is better that way because I don’t want her to wake up and start ranting. I know the type of person she is.
However, what happened to her now isn’t what I bargained for. I watched helplessly as she cried out in pain; the tiny tattoo on her wrist glowing and her eyes too. But she will be oblivious of that because I alone could see her face, while she couldn’t, unless with the aid of a mirror. She believed that I caused the pain, but I didn’t do a thing other than raise my voice at her a little, wanting her to know that I was serious about taking her away.
She is yet to know who she is or the power she has in her. I don’t know much about lilies, and this is the first time in my lifetime that I have met one. But all I know is that they possess strong magic powers and also behold something special that can either be useful to mankind, witches, or vampires. But I’m yet to know what she possesses; with the look of things, she will be stronger than every other lily I have read about.
There is a particular stage a lily will get to, and that stage is the time for the manifestation of her powers. I think hers started just now. She has come of age, and she mustn’t know how to use it, or else the whole nonhuman world will be in trouble if she turns out bad. But the truth is that her safety matters to me.
Perhaps the goddess has a good reason for making her my mate, and if so, I will do all that is in my power to keep her away from those who want to sacrifice her for no reason except to absorb her powers and make them theirs for their selfish reason. I won’t allow what happened many years ago to repeat itself. I will fight for what is mine.
“Don’t force it…you will be fine,” I muttered, caressing her head to see if I could try easing any pain that she was feeling. She suddenly falls into unconsciousness
I sighed softly, placing my hand on her head to feel her temperature. I don’t know how she will cope with all the things that are waiting for her in the future, but I pray I keep her away from danger.
I scoop her up in my hands, creating a portal with my mind as we teleported to a faraway castle that has no soul, and had been kept deserted for many years

Stepping into the shrine, Deleon folded his fist, trying to calm down his angry nerves as he made his way toward Onyx
“Bad news, right,” Onyx asked, not turning to look at him. He had felt his presence already
“We almost got her. If not for that witch coming in my way” He yelled out, boiling with rage
“Witches…….are weaker vessels, compared to us vampires” Onyx smirked rubbing his beard
“Her strength was incomparable; I couldn’t defeat her on that spot. The black humans were already coming closer toward the scene” he said, referring to the police
“ Hmmm…so what do you think…the witch is also after the lily?”
“I think so lord Onyx”
“Then she might be possessing something special…let’s say the seal…hmmm, you know how much they value that object” he smirked. Deleon frown
“A lily possessing the seal of Enchanted?” he asked
“What do you think…”
“Hmm..perhaps..and if she is, then it’s more like killing two birds with a stone” he returned the smirk.
Onyx smiled, picking up his staff
“So this isn’t only a fight with Lazarus then, I think we will be involving the witches this time. But anyway, we will kill two birds with one stone, as you suggested,” he grinned, wriggling his brow. Deleon didn’t get his point at first, but when he did, he gave out a wicked laughter, as it echoed in the cave
