Prologue: Shipwrecked
The year is 985 on the stormy seas of Megalo. The ship “Balrog” is fighting through the raging waves and lightning with its captain, who has long, red hair and yellow eyes, at the wheel. Suddenly, the waves calm and the rain around the ship stops falling.
Melody: Hey, Birdie! What's Happened?!
A man in the bird's nest up above searches all around with his telescope.
Bird: I've Got No Clue! Perhaps An Odd Magic!
Melody: Haven't I seen this before? It was the... Oh bloody crap! Faust! Get Those Sails Moving!
Faust: There's No Wind!
Melody jumps onto the main deck and draws her cutlass and blunderbuss.
Melody: Then, Get Out Your Blades! This'll Be A Right Pain!
Suddenly, a massive tentacle slams through the sails and then rests on the main deck.
Melody: Me Mast! Now, You Die!
Melody shoots and then stabs the massive tentacle to little effect. Many more tentacles come out of the sea and engulf the ship. No matter how hard the pirates fight, the tentacles are relentless in their destruction of the ship and its crew. Melody finds herself amongst the many floating pieces of the Balrog. She quickly climbs onto a large piece of wood before the monster below swims away and the storm returns. The next morning, Melody appears naked under the sheets of a bed with a fire across the room. Her clothes are laid out on the mantle along with her weapons. There's a spruce door to the right of the fireplace and a simple desk to the left of it. There's another bed to the left of Melody's and a kitchen table to the right. The whole place is made of old wood and clay. A man, dressed in fancy clothes and with long, white hair and yellow eyes, walks into the house with two fish on a stick. He sets the fish in a position to where they'll cook by the fire.

Melody: Saw me nude, eh? You like what you seen?
Al: Are you doing well?
Melody: Better than the day before, I suppose.
Al: Your clothes had to be dried and your wounds checked. However, you seem to have sustained no damage. Might I ask what kind of incident you were involved with?
Melody: The bloody Kraken itself snuck upon me crew, crushed me beauty, the Balrog, and killed me men.
Al: You survived an encounter with the Kraken? How so?
Melody: Got real tough skin. Always have.
Al: Yes... These weapons are quite unique. What land do they hail from?
Melody: Them's the works of the boys in Svartalfheim.
Al: Norse. You are quite far from home. Welcome to the land of Aldrich. You will find all manner of beast in this segment of the world.
Melody: Quite evidently.
Al: What might your title be?
Melody: Name's just Melody. You?
Al: I am Alucard, son of the Demon Lord, Dracula.
Melody: You having a wank? Dracula himself? In this dainty little place?
Al: I am quite serious. I have been searching for a brave enough hunter to accompany me on my quest ever since my mother died yesteryear. I am determined to have my father slain, either by my hand or by another. Would you be my company on this journey?
Melody: I've got a real itching to kill that Kraken. I scratch your itch, you scratch mine?
Al: It is a deal.
