Book 2 Prologue

  Prologue

The date is July 4th, 1390. A wall of mountains divides Midgard from the Muspelheim desert to the north. There's a large set of doors built into the base of the tallest mountain on the side that's in Muspelheim. There are two guards per door and a man stands in front of them. The man is in his late forties and has dark hair and hazel eyes. He checks his watch right before a fancy spaceship lands in front of him. Its doors open and a big man with red hair and blue eyes steps out.

Omni: It's an honor to meet the boss himself, sir Kirk.

Kirk: Mount Frost's base. A nice spot to hide... Let's see these batteries.

  Omni: This way, sir.

They start walking towards the doors and Kirk looks back, stopping in his tracks.

  Kirk: Boy! Get over here!

A ten year old white boy with white hair and red eyes walks out of the ship.

  Omni: Who might this be?

Kirk: Kid's my protege. Name's “Grant.”

  Grant: 'Sup?

  Kirk: Let's get to business.

The three of them walk through the set of doors and are met with two trucks on the left and the right. They've entered a large room that's filled with machines that are making batteries and deprived workers of greatly varying ages work at the machines. They walk to a machine in the center of the room that holds a yellow jewel behind a pane of glass.

Omni: Here, we have the greatest discovery of my life. This jewel generates more energy on its own than the entirety of the planet Manus. This factory is dedicated to making that energy usable. These batteries will then be used in a great variety of laser weapons, all designed and manufactured by me, of course.

Kirk: Talk's alright, but can I shoot one of these weapons? Hold it in my hands?

Omni: This is why we need to speak. Let's enter my office.

They walk past a ten year old black boy with white hair and red eyes and Grant stops.

Grant: Boss! Look! He has my hair.

  Kirk: And?

Grant: Can we take him home? He can be my stepbrother!

Kirk: Don't you want one that looks more like you?

Grant: But, this one has white hair!

Kirk: … Well? How much for the kid?

  Omni: Ten thousand dollars.

  Kirk: Deal.

Grant: Yes! What might I call my new brother?

  James: J-Jason.

Grant: Jason? No. I'll think of something better.

  Kirk: Grant!

  Grant: Stay here.

They walk into an office at the back wall of the factory that has a window, looking out to the machines. Omni pulls out some blueprints from the desk.

Omni: Here we have pistols, sniper rifles, a space station-

Kirk: I don't need paper, Omni. I need something I can hold and sell.

Omni: That is why I need you. A little birdie told me that you can access fallen meteorites. I need certain materials from such meteorites to complete my work.

Kirk: The starting price is ten billion.

Omni: Heh. No, sir Kirk. You let me start a little mining operation, and I deliver the weaponry.

Kirk: You get the materials, you get the profits, and I get a few battery-powered laser-pointers that need Your batteries to work?

Omni: I see your concerns, but you don't know that you'd also get unlimited ammo. Free charges for life.

  Kirk: Not good enough.

  Omni: Plus!... Five billion dollars.

Kirk: Hmm... Why would I need a space station?

  Omni: I'll show you.

As Omni flips through the blueprints, a massive metal man bursts into the factory.

  Kirk: What's That?!

Omni walks out of the office as the metal man punches through the glass in the machine in the center of the room and takes out the yellow jewel.

  Omni: Fire, You FOOLS!

The guards outside start shooting at the metal man, but the bullets only dent him. The man puts the jewel in a slot in his chest and glass slides over it. He then looks back at the guards and they hide next to the doors. After that, he walks up to Jason, picks him up, and runs away. As the dust clears, Omni walks outside and stares at the miles of endless desert.
