Hearing the ultimate question for today. The trio was excited to tell the story.
But Horm and Arsh looked at Civ.
Horm said. “I think it is best to have Civ tell us how we are able to hunt the boar.” Arsh also agreed and nodded.
Everyone shifted their attention to Civ. Their eyes were sparkling, awaiting the storyteller to unfold the mystery.
Looking at these gazes, Civ was also affected by their excitement and told the story with a smile. He started with the initial plans.
As they are gathering berries in the north, he is also observing the behavior of the boars. Most of the time, he was being chased by the boar, but in some cases, he was ignored.
Everyone was scared and shocked at the courageous nature of Civ. Especially Horm and Arsh. They did not know that while they were gathering berries, Civ was risking his life.
If they only knew. They both felt they should do more for Civ at the time he was away.
After they plan to create the spear, Civ moves the story to what happened earlier today. As Civ goes on to tell the story, everyone in the hut's mouth is wide open. Even Horm and Arsh.
When Civ tells them about the lying down boar, everyone's heart is beating fast.
In this part of the story, Civ recalls this with actions and props. Same with the action from the boar. Everyone was reactions were animated and audible now. Civ reenacts the pouncing of the boar and his scrambling with it. Everyone was cheering for Civ.
When Civ mentioned the ray of light coming from the Sun, everyone inside the hut went silent again.
He killed the boar, and he finished his story there.
Everyone was so immersed in the story Civ told, as if they were the ones who were fighting the boar. Their heart is still racing!
“The ray of light.” The Shaman recalled.
“Your dream Shaman Mashu, it come true!” The Tribe leader exclaimed!
The Shaman nodded but was silent and contemplating.
‘Since the Chosen was already here, this means also my dreams in the future will have a purpose!’.
The Shaman felt a new sense of duty as the Shaman of the tribe, to guide the Chosen.
As for the Tribe leader, he was very happy that they were able to hunt it. The hope that he was longing for, was also came true.
From the time they were hunting the boar up until now, it is already almost noon. The rain has stopped already, and a glimpse of sunlight is illuminating the camp.
Civ called his Father and asked his permission. “Father, can we talk to our people?”
Kivrah knows what Civ means. The trio was able to hunt the boar, but it was only one. If they need to survive, they need the help of their tribesmen.
“Yes. Since we already have food. Our tribesmen can rest for today.” Kivrah was happy that their tribe would not be risking their lives outside the camp. Looking for any berries since it is dangerous with boars around.
Civ was excited. This is one of the crucial parts he needed to overcome. He is not a good speaker. But he starts gaining confidence. Since there is a responsibility that needs to be fulfilled.
They discuss for about an hour how they will explain to the people what they witnessed this morning.
After they came to a conclusion, the Tribe leader commanded the people to gather at the front of the cave.
Once the people gathered, everyone's gaze on Civ was different. Civ doesn't know how to respond to this kind of limelight. As a regular guy on Earth. This is something that he only sees in people who have idols.
After everyone calms down.
The Tribe leader starts the show.
“My fellow tribesmen. As you witnessed earlier. These three teenagers hunted the boar and killed it without casualties!”
Hearing the confirmation from the tribe leader, everyone was surprised. But also glad that the trio was safe.
“On how they accomplished it, my Son Civ will tell you what happened.”
When Civ faced the crowd, he couldn't control it. But his hands were trembling. At the back, his father held his shoulders and said. “You can do it, my son.”
Getting moral support from his Father. He takes a deep breath and relaxes.
For the people of his tribe, he started on day one. From their initial encounter with the boar. Next was the accident of his hands and the discovery of the stone knife. While Civ is telling the story, Horm and Arsh hand out three stone knives to the crowd so they can get the idea.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
He did a quick demonstration on how to create the stone knife and what the use of a knife is.
Everyone was curious. They wanted to try and use it on fallen leaves. They were amazed that they could separate a leaf into multiple pieces.
Next was the cordage. Civ explained that this is stronger compared to the vines or long leaves that they are using to hold any item. He also demonstrates how they can create it. The crowd, including the tribe leader and his friends, felt they had learned something new. It was only a couple of strings, but it was much stronger when combined into one.
The last that he discussed was the spear and the atlatl. Instead of explaining it. He continued by telling them the story of how he and his friends hunted the boar. He re-enacts it the same way he did in front of the shaman and the tribe leader.
Their reaction was the same as the tribe leader's when he heard it first. Some were afraid, some were excited. When the boar was killed in the story, everyone was also cheering.
As the cheering reached its climax, Civ immediately asked the crowd.
“My fellow tribesmen. As my story tells, we are able to defeat and hunt the boar using these items in front of you.”
Civ spreads his hands and says.
“No need to be afraid of that monster. We can defeat it. We can overwhelm it.” Civ instill this in their hearts.
“But I did not say I did it. But with the help of my friends.” He pointed out to Horm and Arsh.
“If we can do it, you all also can do it. If we can make it, you all also can make it. Everything is possible as long as we try. This moment, we will not hide from boars.” Civ's voice grew louder, and the crowd's reaction was positive.
“Yeah!” the crowd responds.
“We will not be will not be running away from the boars!”
“Yeah!”
“We will not be afraid of these monsters!”
“Yeah!”
“We will hunt them until they bow to our presence!”
“Yeah!”
The crowd was exhilarated. They start shouting and accepting their new chance.
“So my fellow tribesmen. Are you ready to change your life?” Civ asks the crowd at the top of his lungs.
“Yes Oh Chosen one!” the crowd replied.
The crowd starts shouting again as they celebrate this moment. One thing sticks in their mind right now. They can change their life! Being scared of the boars is no more!
Civ felt relieved that he was able to pull this off. Now that he has gained the support of his tribesmen, he can start expanding the coverage of his plans.
When the crowd's cheering died down, Civ spoke again.
“Thank you everyone! I know most of you want to hunt the boar. But for now, we only need 5 people who will come with us. As for the rest of you, we will need your support in creating the items in front of you.” The crowd looked at the spears and stone knives. Everyone agreed, and their eyes were excited and willing to help.
“To the people who want to follow us in the hunt, please step forward.” Civ looked around.
As he surveyed the crowd earlier, this is the current census of the camp:
1 tribe leader
1 Shaman
3 old men
20 adult men
10 adult women
10 teenage boys
5 teenage girls
6 children, including 2 babies.
A total of 56 people are in the population.
Honestly, Civ really wants to restrict the hunting task to men only. But he wants to see if they are willing, the more he wants to learn, the better. He wants to ensure that there is enough personnel, especially on hunting tasks.
When Civ finished, multiple people moved forward from the crowd. A total of 7!
3 adult men, 1 teenage boy, 1 teenage girl, and 2 adult women.
Civ looked satisfied. The fact that there are volunteers is already amazing. But 7 volunteers are beyond his expectations.
Civ looked at the volunteers and nodded, “Thank you! I know you are all excited, but I hope you remind yourself. Hunting boars is still dangerous, and a wrong decision while hunting might kill you. Are you still confident that you all can overcome your fear?”
Civ intensely stared at them with immense pressure. It was the first time they had seen Civ being this serious. Even the crowd felt it.
But even with this pressure, the 7 of them still answered the calling of Civ.
“Yes Oh Chosen one. We will not disappoint you!” All of them replied with courage.
“Thank you! Now I would like to ask the people who want to learn how to create these items.” As Civ mentioned, the crowd was also excited. The people who still have some fear of facing the boar want to contribute in some other way.
Since everyone wants to contribute, the tribe leader takes care of it. He divides the group into 3. The first group will gather firewood. The second group will learn how to make stone tools. The last group that will be working on cordages.
When Kivrah discussed this earlier with Civ, he said that the tribe would need more of these items. Especially strings. Civ said that they will need it as many as possible. Civ did not explain it much further, but knowing his son, this is something they really need.
As for the designation of task leaders, Civ will be responsible for the cordage and hunting. Horm for the gathering of firewood and stones. Then Arsh will be on stone works.
The trio agrees. The tribe leader, on the other hand, will be the one overseeing the whole camp if there are any issues. The Shaman's task will stay the same.
Once everyone had settled on their task, Civ asked the crowd to arrange themselves in a circle formation. He explained it by making a circle shape using his two hands.
Everyone understands and does the circle formation. The trio went into the middle. Horm brought the firewood while Arsh had the tools Civ used earlier.
“Now, I will demonstrate to you all how we can make the fire!” Civ was also excited.
He explained to them how to do it and what items they need to make sure they can do it. There are questions from here and there, but Civ answered them without any issues.
When the smoke continuously shows in the flatwood, everyone holds their breath.
He puts it on the tinder and blows on it. When the fire came, everyone was amazed. They start praising the Sun Goddess and start looking back again at the fire.
“Praise the Sun Goddess! They never abandoned us!” Said one of the adult women in the crowd while the other was kowtowing in front of the campfire.
Horm and Civ start stoking the fire as it keeps getting bigger compared to the fire they had in the Shaman’s hut. Everyone felt more pious as the warmth of the fire embraced them. A solemn yet joyous feeling.
“It really feels like the Sun Goddess is facing me!” Says one of the elders in the crowd, and everyone feels the same.
Everyone relaxed and started to sit down around the campfire.
While everyone is relaxing, Civ looks at Horm.
Horm understands the gesture from Civ and brings the boar into the middle of the campfire.
Civ looked around and said, “Now everyone! It's time to eat.”
