"everyone thinks the mind never plays tricks and that people often deceive themselves with this same fact, but that all bullshit, when in extreme, desperate situations we learn that not only do our mind skip some details and just switch to defence mode, it also gets us vulnerable, at a time where one thinks about survival, they fail to notice how secure the environment really is, leading to their deaths,..... Although sometimes out way of thinking may differ in extreme situations, all humans tend to think about saving themselves and placing their safety above that of others.., that just how the kind works and that just how humans are"........,

  "I didn't think it'd be this huge"su admired, the tunnel was vast, and it still ran on power. How did they have power working underneath here after the fall years ago the crew wondered exploring deeper into this tunnel.

  "if this weren't a tunnel we could stay right?"su asked stareing back at Zack and Chloe but they said nothing, they could feel something was off about the whole thing. First of all, there was power underneath and even though there was no one here, this place was built so no one could break the doors open, if so an infestation by the undead would be practically impossible unless it was from the inside. Zack had already caught on quickly pulling his gun and placing it ahead of him.

  "What....., what are you doing?"su asked confused seeing Zack pull out his gun

  "He's right......."Chloe replied also grabbing hold of the bat tied behind her. "Damn those scavengers"she cursed as they had taken her gun back at the prison, Zacks too but he found another gun in the cop car they drove on.

  "How is he right?....were clear safe ain't we?"su asked confused, what did they know that she didn't, what were they doing and why? She wondered following behind. Minutes after that Zack discovered some dried up blood and body on the floor, it seemed to have been there for a long time and what ever caused it was in here with them and not out there with the virus

  "A....a body but how?, this is supposed to be a bunker, more like a tunnel yeah but a bunker, how did he get killed?"su asked trembling, she was gradually understanding why Zack had to pull his gun out, they weren't safe even in a olace like this

  "Damn it"su cursed grabbing a dagger which she had always carried along on her backpack.

  "You had a dagger all along?"Chloe asked surprised, she hadn't known this kid had a dagger hidden in her backpack.

  "Yes.... You think I'll be exploring this wasteland empty handed, that's stupid isn't it?"su responded slowly advancing forward based on Zacks movements.

  "Another one....., and another....., two more at that corner..., what the hell"su coughed disgusted by the sight infront of her, there were bodies and dried blood everywhere, the whole placed stinked and reeked of rotten flesh, she just couldn't hold back the vomit which she soon let out after the cough

  "If you're done then we proceed, hope the suits mask will help us filter the air here" Zack said his voice barely audible but they heard all he said. Despite the scene they had just witnessed they proceeded forward, Zack could tell they would get out of the tunnel on as they seemed to be ascending and not descending, he could only wish they got out of the tunnel without encountering an infected but all his wished soon faded soon after as he caught sight of a crawler, a certain undead which uses their hands and legs to move rather than stand upright and walk with two legs.

  "We're screwed"Zack sighed exhaustedly aiming at the crawler while still stareing around the vicinity like he was searching for something.

  "No we ain't, it's just one infected, this should be easy"su smiled, as ignorant as she was Zack could swear he found her courage amusing but there were more to worry about now

  "That's a crawler, the most dangerous infected you'll ever come across..., you said earlier that it was just one infected right?"Zack asked

  "That where you're wrong su..., you see where one crawler resides...., hundreds of em all stay"Chloe finished up the sentence for him.

  "Then what do you mean?....., that we've got a whole bunch of em somewhere in here?"su asked getting paranoid

  "Exactly.....problems is, not sure where they are"Zack whispered luckily the crawler in front of them hadn't noticed them yet so all they had to do was avoid getting seen by it. Slowly and carefully crouching they hid behind one of the huge pillars supporting the tunnel without being noticed.

  "What's it doing?" Su asked observing the infected,she slowly placed her dagger behind her but unknowingly she hadn't placed it well, it was going to fall off at it was unsteady, the crawler was eating off the dried blood from one of the corpses on the floor, why was it doing that? She wondered trying to get a closer look but as she tried the dagger fell off creating a massive sound as it slammed the floor hard. They were discovered, the crawler could now see them, letting out a huge growl it rushed towards them, but Zack brought it down just in time.

  "We have to move now.....it called for backup back then when it cried"Zack informed running forward, Chloe and su running behind him. "I.......I.....I can feel them...., hundreds of them... they're coming..right behind us"Chloe said feeling nauseous, why was she? She wondered, her visions were becoming blurry and she could barely stand, what was going on?, she tried thinking but her brain hurt as she did.

  *THUD*

  She was down, "hey Zack!"su called, she had noticed Chloe fall but Zack hadn't. He was so focused on getting out of there he hadn't focused on what was behind him. Hearing su call out to him Zack stared behind to find Chloe lying on the floor and su trying to lift her.

  "What the hell happened?"Zack asked walking back to where Chloe laid

  "I don't know....she just fell,....is...is she dead?"su asked

  "Dead no..... unconscious yes..., just keep running su, don't stop, don't wait up.., head to the exit get up top, once safe you can wait for us there"Zack instructed

  "What.....I can't"su tried refusing but Zack persuaded her into doing so. "Now to carry you with me"he smiled lifting Chloe and slowly running for the exit as well. The infected behind him were getting closer, Zack could feel them moving from the floor.

  "Dammit, why now?"Zack thought running for the exit which he couldn't see but believe it was there, it had to be as he'd be dead of it wasn't.
