172. Release The Power (Book Three)

After a successful evolution, Rick spent a few days getting used to his new power and making sure that nothing was amiss with his evolution.

It was unlikely but it didn’t hurt to make sure everything was good to go.

Once that was verified, it was time for the ritual to evolve the Chiefs.

Well it would only be half of them, as not only could Rick not sustain evolving all 14 of them at once, the Clans could not afford to be without their King and also all 14 Clan Leaders at the exact same time for multiple days.

  It would spell their doom.

So half now…and they woke up after successfully evolving and Rick had also recovered enough, then the second half would go through the same process.

Elder Raj was in the large training room with Rick, and 7 of his Chiefs. Group 1and Commander Meegra of the Royal Guard were also present but their roles would come later.

“Alright it is time My King.”

The 7 Chiefs were sitting in front of Rick in a line, as Elder Raj walked up to Rick with a knife, and a large wooden bowl.

  Rick held out his hand.

Elder Raj placed the bowl beneath Rick’s outstretched arm and as he brought the knife to Rick’s arm he closed his eyes and began to chant.

  “Ur’zhaal krak’zul, thren’vak drusk. Vrakkul grahn’tak, zhurak vek’mahl. Dren’ar zul—vosh ka’tor.”

He repeated the phase three times and the power being gathered in the room continued to pick up.

Except the power wasn’t being generated from outside…it was coming from Rick’s body.

The phrase roughly translated to “Release the power of the blood.” Which is exactly what needed to happen for the Goblins to advance past their natural ceiling.

And it was why Rick needed to be at least Tier Six before trying something of this magnitude. At Tier Five, it would post far too great a risk to his life as a small portion of his power or more accurately…the life essence of a Goblin King would be drained from him and be given to the Chief to absorb.

All of that power would be enough to push the Chief through the Tier Six ceiling.

This wasn’t something just any powerful being could attempt to do. At least not without great risk to the recipient. It was the fact that it was the blood and life essence of a Goblin that allowed for this process to work.

By the time Elder Raj finished his chant and slit Rick’s arm…the tattoos on his body were glowing brighter than ever before.

Rick had to force down a groan as he quite literally felt power leaving him and being struck with heavy weakness.

Elder Raj was collecting enough blood for all Chiefs present to drink.

Once he was done, Rick quite literally slumped down to the floor as a sever weakness took hold of him instantly. The members of the Royal Guard quickly reached his side and ever so carefully carried the now unconscious Rick towards his room and placed him on his bed.

Group 1 and Commander Meegra would stay inside the massive house, while Groups 2-10 will be guarding the outside.

It was all hands on deck while Rick was incapacitated.

Meanwhile, Elder Raj brought the bowl to the first of the Chiefs. Chief Galgo. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then brought the bowl to his lips.

  Swallowing just a small amount.

Elder Raj then took the bowl from him and a few seconds later the Chief slumped down to the floor and curled up into a small ball as painful process now began.

There would always be pain when going against the natural order of things.

Something all of them will soon come to know.

Chief Galgo, Chief Kog, Chiefess Hugala, Chiefess Menga, Chief Darug, Chiefess Yalg, and Chiefess Jluug.

All of them drunk their share of the blood and immediately convulsed on the ground where they sat as the painful process to reach Tier Seven began.

Elder Raj then lit the bowl of blood on fire to dispose of it’s contents. Once that was complete he just watched the process of the Chiefs and their evolutions with a hint of deep excitement in his old eyes.

He was feeling the same emotions he felt during Rick’s evolution to Goblin King.

All of the knowledge about evolving the King, and the King evolving his Chiefs, had always only been passed down. He had never ever gotten the chance to see it work nor had he ever got the chance to truly do it himself.

And for most of his life, he was sure that he would never get the chance to put his knowledge to the test.

He would continue to his duty to his last breath and eventually he would pass down his knowledge to another Goblin and he would die and that Goblin would take up the mantle.

  That’s how it’s always been.

  For a very long time.

Yet now…now he was finally able to do his duty. To not only witness history, be a part of it!

How couldn’t the old Goblin be happy and excited?

But he wasn’t only filled with excitement…he was filled determination as well. The old Goblin wasn’t much of a fighter be swore to himself right then and there, that as long as his old bones knew life, then his King would never come to harm.

It took a full three weeks for the seven Chiefs to wake up from their evolutions. While it took a total of 4 weeks for Rick to not only recover his lost power but also be strong and vigorous enough again to conduct another ritual.

Then after an additional two weeks of waiting so that the new Tier Seven Chiefs of the 14 Goblin Clans could get used to their newfound power, it was time for the remaining 7 to go through with theirs.

Everyone gathered in the training room once more.

Chiefess Jurna, Chief Grul, Chief Rogur, Chief Duga, Chief Jrun, Chiefess Meegi, and finally Chief Pogo.

The ritual took place once again, and as they fell into pain, Rick once again fell into sever weakness.

  It was stronger this time.

In fact, this time it took another two months of resting before Rick finally recovered to full strength.

This would be the last time for a long time that Rick conducted this ritual. This time and this time only, all the 14 Chiefs received it. 14 Tier Seven beings was simply not something that could be overlooked.

If the humans and other powerful groups on the continent knew of what just happened in the Dark Lands of Mir…they would probably form one of the greatest alliances ever and invade it full…but no. They didn’t know.

Nor would they…at least not for a while.
