One day passed and Skyler was out of prison. Her feelings were all over the place, she was feeling happy, sad, annoyed at the same time. Since that incident.

  She lost the only person who could make her a protector but now, she was nobody in this twisted world. She sighed and looked up at the cloudy sky that was mirroring her exact emotions.

  She started to walk away from the entrance of the prison down the cobblestone path which was slippery due to the rain from prior days. She got to the main road of the citadel where many people were going about their daily activities.

  She felt lost, losing sight of her goal. She continued down the pavement to a cafe where she took a seat and opened a menu on the table. She looked over and saw a waiter come up to her with a smile and a notebook.

  “Good afternoon miss, welcome to the iceberg cafe the perfect place for taking away pain”

  He spoke like he was reading from a script, what Skyler felt when she heard him.

  “What's the specials for today?”

  She asked, and he smiled and looked through his notebook and looked back at Skyler’s eyes

  “Pork and chips with cheese dressing and salad with bolognese sauce.”

  He said and Skyler nodded

  “I’ll take that”

  She said and closed the menu and gave it to him

  “Of course”

  He said as he walked away. Skyler looked at the busy road and saw many people running down the opposite way.

  “That’s odd”

  She thought but turned back to the table, she tapped her foot repeatedly. Nerves shocking her head

  “Stop it’s not my business”

  She muttered, under her breath trying to drown her curiosity of why people were running. She was conflicted if she left,food would be wasted but it might be emergency which filled her desire to help

  “Damm it stop brain”

  She said, standing up and staring at a shadow as her eyes changed to dark purple, she started to use it to skate towards where people were coming from

  She saw an explosion and a person being thrown through a window. She started to skate faster which made a draft behind her breaking store windows on the way.

  “Go faster, faster come on”

  She shouted at her body and her eyes glowed brighter. She gritted her teeth and felt her muscles start to ache but she didn’t care she just cared about the emergency

  When she arrived she heard screaming of pain, then saw two fragments which were a black misty in colour with purple stones floating around them. And many statues scattered around the area.

  “Umbra fragments!”

  She shouted and used the shadow near the lamppost and as it changed its form to a blade wave. She threw at the fragment with the accumulation motion she gathered from staking.

  The fragment roared loudly and moved out of the way of the wave and the wave crashed into a building behind it where it went through destroying the store.

  Skyler bit her lip in annoyance since that was her second shadow and she only had four shots left. Her eyes widened as she saw the fragment throwing a punch towards her, the misty nature of it allowing it to stretch towards her with blitzing speed. She jumped to the side, raising her arms to block the shockwave of the collision between the fist of the fragment and the concrete.In which she flew a few meters backwards.

  When she uncovered her she heard a big boom then saw the collapsing of skyscrapers behind the fragment.

  “OH SHIT”

  Skyler shouted while she saw a person trapped under some debris where she threw that shadow wave. Skyler looked at the person and back at the fragment not knowing what to do.

  “I hope I don’t get turned into a statue”

  She murmured under her breath and then started to rush over to the person. When she got closer she could make out that it was a woman who was trapped

  She saw that the woman had beautiful brown hair and her eyes were closed. She knew that something wasn’t right so she skidded onto her knees near the woman. As quickly as she could and grabbed the wooden plank that was pinning her.

  “Hey! Are you okay?”

  Skyler said, worried that she might be unconscious and badly hurt, she started to lift the plank. While she was lifting she heard the woman screaming in pain, so Skyler stopped.

  “My leg!”

  The woman shouted and Skyler looked down at her curvy body and saw that the woman’s leg got a nail through it.

  “Ah shit!”

  Skyler thought and looked at the fragment, she knew if she pulled it out then there was a chance that the woman would die from blood loss but if she didn't then, the woman would have been crushed by the fragment.

  She looked at her watch and grimaced, but she shook her head.

  “great job Skyler”

  She sighed and pressed on her watch and it started to ring. She looked at the fragment which was coming closer, roaring louder.

  “Come on pick up bastard”

  She muttered, wanting Justin to pick up knowing that he might not since the last time they spoke he didn’t really want to stay in touch.

  “Sorry but I need to remove it”

  She gently pressed her other hand on the woman’s head.

  “It’s going to hurt just bear it okay”

  She said softly trying to help the words stick into the woman’s unconscious mind. She removed her hand and placed it on the other side of the board. Skyler grunted as she pulled on it. While she was doing it she heard a guttural scream from the woman.

  She frowned but kept going, knowing it was the only way to save her.

  “Sorry”

  She whispered under her breath and she used another shadow to wrap the woman’s thigh to stop the bleeding from growing worse.

  “That’s three gone”

  She thought, annoyed, that she didn’t have that much left to stop the fragment from causing more damage since she needed to reserve them. But she was glad that she did use it to help a person in need.

  “Almost there bare with me!”

  Skyler shouted, and she pulled harder and the nail got fully pulled out from the leg. Skyler then threw the plank away and grabbed the woman’s armpits and pulled the woman to her feet and let her lean against her.

  “Here we go!”

  She grunted as she dragged her along from the building with much struggle, since she didn’t have that much strength.

  “Damm I should of done more weight training”

  She thought, but shook her head to keep herself from getting discouraged and distracted from the fact that she was in a bad position.

  The ground crunched and blood was dripping down on it from the leg of the woman. Skyler grimaced knowing that the woman hasn’t got that time to keep that leg.

  “Well fuck it.”

  Skyler muttered, while she was placing the woman on the ground, leaning against a pole. She turned around and her hair tips started to glow purple as she gathered three more shadows around her. She dashed towards the fragment with lightning quick speed from skating on the shadow like she was rollerblading.

  She jumped over the fragment and flipped as she took a deep breath and threw the shadow that she used to gain speed. It changed its form to a spear, which pierced through the fragments arm and made a crater as it impacted the ground.

  Skyler landed on her feet as she skidded to a stop, she exhaled but not for long as she rushed back in, she slid underneath the fragment and covered her hand with a shadow which sliced the fragments leg. Which made it collapse into a building behind.

  “Oops”

  Skyler muttered while seeing the building collapse onto the fragment. She slapped her cheeks to keep herself from getting distracted and then she rushed towards the fragment and jumped into the air and her eyes glowed brighter as a large shadow grew underneath the fragment and her hand covered in a black myst as she punched the chest of the fragment as it vanishes into the black circle.

  “Ruinous quicksand”

  She shouted, as the black circle disappeared with a large amount of wind accompanied. She blinked and her eyes returned to her natural colour of navy blue and her tips of her hair went back to their original colour as well. She collapsed onto her bum and she looked at the sky glad that she defeated a fragment on her own.

  “Im not weak”

  She said while clenching her fist triumphfully. As her other hand whipped the sweat from her forehead. She looked back at the woman who was leaning against the lamppost.

  “Right, I think I should go, the protectors might be here soon”

  She muttered but, when she was about to get up from the floor her body wasn’t responding. She gulped as she knew that if Justin saw who defeated the fragment, He would be annoyed more like pissed at her. For straight up using her magic when she was literally moments ago in jail.

  “I probably should call him right?”

  She thought to herself while looking at her watch. She pressed onto the screen of it. And many numbers were on a list. She scrolled on the wheel on the side until she saw Justin moonlight.

  “No, not yet”

  She muttered as she stood up with quite a lot of effort. She made her way to the woman who was sitting. On the pole, she bent down and looked at her golden eyes

  “The protectors will be here any second so can I know your name ma’am”

  She softly said with a smile. She was completely mesmerised by the woman’s appearance. With her silky brown hair and gem-like eyes.

  “My name is Luna Deepwood”

  When Skyler breathed in sharply at the name, to Skyler’s ears Luna’s voice sounded so dark and forbidden which made her heart start beating a little bit faster.

  “Well, miss Deepwood”

  She sighed trying to gather her emotions from being too pushy and fumble her words

  I’m Skyler amberlight, technically I’m not supposed to be here”

  Skyler said, while scratching her head while keeping her eyes on Luna's. But when she saw Luna looking dumbfounded by her. She felt a tang of guilt which she couldn’t explain why but she did

  “What do you mean?”

  Luna groaned while holding onto her thigh.

  “Well…I don’t have time to explain at the moment but I will after the protectors get here”

  Skyler nervously chuckled as she looked at the burning rubble of the surrounding area. She felt like this couldn’t get any more worse than this.

  “Well,great”

  Skyler thought in her head annoyed that the fragment caused all this damage. She was also annoyed at herself for not going sooner.

  “Damm it”

  She whispered, clutching her hand tightly hidden behind her back to keep Luna from being worried. Since she knew that if she worried about her it might make it harder for her to keep calm while they waited.

  Minutes passed by and then both of them heard sirens getting louder and louder as many cars pulled up and people with uniforms stepped out of them

  “See Luna…the…protectors…are…”

  Skyler said while slipping into an unconscious state, since she wasn’t used to doing all of that magic at once.
