The first thing Vegis did when he got the VR stuff up and ready was talking to family to inform him of why he hasn't responded to any of their calls. His sisters gave him some shit about becoming a fed as a joke but that was all. When he got out of VR, Vegis saw that Mitra was staring at him with confusion. She had only seen VR through the fragmented knowledge that came from when she absorbed Vegis’s memory about language. “What is that?” (Mitra) “It’s VR. think like a fake world that is made to help others do stuff.”(Vegis) “Why?”(Mitra) “Because not everything is convenient to do in reality.”(Vegis) She nodded at this and asked, “Can I use it then?” This caused Vegis to pause and think. “Maybe. We will have to do some tests for you to use the kind I am using, but we could go down to use an older version.”
Vegis got up and did some stretches as he was down for a while. It had only been 6 days since they came back from the south so both of them were getting reused to tech. Vegis had tried only several occasions to contact Drake or Doel but the connection couldn’t go through so Vegis had been trying his best to keep Mitra out of the public eye. Thankfully, the disguise runes on their bodies seem to be very flexible and they could change their appearance much more than just turning human. They could edit features, color, tattoos, and things that didn’t need major change to their original shape. This was great but the more they changed, the larger the drain on mana it became so they could only do a heavily modified disguised look for 3ish hours, but that would be more than enough for the trip they’re about to do.
It was a short 10ish minute run to the elevator hub and it seemed this city didn’t like to travel too much since only like 10 people were there. Vegis and Mitra took an elevator down but it seemed much slower than the last one they took. It took them 20 minutes to go down instead of the usual 5. When their elevator reached the floor, it became clear why. This was a retirement city and most of the population there were either old as sin or disabled in some way that stopped them from working without major changes to themselves.
This was relatively uncommon due to the advance of medical tech, body modifications, and magic that allows people to do what can only be described as miracles. Most of the time, it was a section of the city filled with a ton of accommodations for all sorts of problems they could have and not a full city. Vegis and Mitra walked out and Vegis started to look up a map for this city. They traveled around the city for a while before they saw their destination, a computer cafe. Inside were some younger folks spread out the building playing on older machines. Vegis walked over to the counter that had an old man sitting. “Hey there customer, I’m Jason, and I own this fine establishment. What can I do for you?” said from the chipper old man.

Vegis responded with, “Hey Jason, I was wondering if you have an old VR room here?” “I do, but I will need to clean it since nobody has used it in a long while. Take a seat, I will get you when it is done?” was what the old man said as he got up from the rocking chair and to a door at the far end of the place. Vegis took a seat and so did Mitra after walking around the store for a bit. It was a while before the old man walked out and gestured for the two to come in. They came over and saw 2 helmets in a blank room. Vegis walked over and put the helmet on. After he did this, straps popped out and secured it to his head. He then told Mitra to put it on too. When both of them had it on, lights started to flash and then bam, they were in the VR space. “This is VR. You can play games, meet others, and do taxes along with other things. Be careful to not hit anything too hard, you might break something.” was what Vegis told Mitra as he was explaining the rules.
She nodded along and then asked a question. “What are we going to do while we are here?” “Well, do you want to play a game or just explore the LSNThe Way of Magic
It took an hour for her to complete and when she was done, she could teleport to any area. Vegis directed her to teleport near his guild base and they then were sent there. They both appeared in front of the shack looking similar to how it usually was. Vegis went inside to see if there was anything to do and found a small mound of items that needed to be fixed. Next to it, there was a note that just said “Sorry ;)”. Vegis rolled his eyes at this and walked out to see Mitra just staring out at the large open area and forest. She was in awe of this. She knew she was still in the small room, but all she could see was nature as far as the eye could see. Untamed and free. Vegis smiled at this before starting up the forge. Mitra turned around when she heard the flames.
She walked over and put her hand in it. She felt heat, but not pain which confused her. Vegis tried swiping at her hand, but just hurt his hand instead. “Please don’t do that. If your character is injured enough, it will kill it and send you back to the central area. Trust me, you don’t want to be in there.” She nodded at this and stopped. She then started to walk around the place and Vegis just started to fix things. By the end of their play session, Vegis fixed half of the things and Mitra started to explore the forest. When they logged out, 2 hours had passed and Mitra had a smile on her face. They went out and paid Jason before leaving and heading home.
