Chapter 76: Hellfire

Jeremiah sat outside the fortress, observing the sky— it was blue, pitch blue as usual. The clouds floated across as yellow tweeting birds tweeted and did as they typically do.

It was beautiful. The Demon Child’s clothes were washed, the vibrant colours glowing as he leaned at the door.

He felt a budge so moved past and then Kanae came out from the door, smoking a cigarette. His face scratched, a bandage covering his left cheek as he gave a gentle smile to Jeremiah; who gave a nod in return.

“It’s a good day today— I assume Saraline, Psylaiso and Dara should be back soon.” Kanae puffed, smoking flicked into the air as embers from the bum touched onto the snow. “Snowing in October, how funny.”

“I guess it’s this biome.” Jeremiah replied, he put a raspberry flavoured lollipop in his mouth, swirling it around, “Must be special.”

“Hahaha.” Kanae soflty chuckled, covering his mouth, “This fortress used to hold religious texts, like a library— guess that’s why there’s so much books.”

The door was left open, the view showcased the hallway— Lucius, Anubis, Medusa, Abriam and Tagma walked out— eagerly.

“So the boss is chilling outside with a potential sp— ouch!” Abriam was budged in the arm by Lucius who simply scoffed, rolling his eyes.

“Treat people with respect you damn toad.” He raised his head above the Kappa, his eyes glaring— flaring.

The five sat alongside Jeremiah, Kanae standing upright and closing the door.

“What about if anyone else decides to come?” Medusa raised her hand, “Like Charles or Ragnor.”

“Eh.” Kanae shrugged, flicking the diminished cigarette butt to the snow as it faded out of view, “Who cares.”

The six looked at the sky, it was beautiful— amazing.

“I can’t hate God so much, God made such beauties.” Tagma joked, causing the others to laugh— or giggle.

  “I can though.”

A voice. A voice from where. A voice from.

The sky turned colour— the blue faded, warped into a crimson red. The sun warped into a human’s face— a dead body. Flies roaming across the carcass’s head as their peach face was forced into a disgusting display. Flesh peeled away in ribbons that didn’t fall, but hung in the air, suspended by threads of glowing red light The face, split and crumpled. His head slumped forward, cleaved and caved on one side. His head slumped forward, cleaved and caved on one side, his eyes— gone replaced with deep hollow sockets as his mouth was wide open— revealing solely gums and no teeth, not even a tongue. Blood dripped from it’s mouth but it landed nowhere, dissipated as soon as it left their stubble.

  Elliot Timpleson.

The six were stuck in place, unable to move— only looking up.

Sweat couldn’t drip, fear couldn’t settle in.

The crimson red warped into a green blanket that encompassed Floria.

  The entirety.

Music played across the world, the sphere— the globe, it felt a music that was soothing. An orchestra sung out, it sung in a deep vocalised voice— singing. It was pleasant but the electric guitars— the piano, the trumpets.

  THEY BLARED.

A silhouette was forming in the sky, directly above the six— directly above the fortress.

Spirals— bold blue spirals floated around the girl, the girl.

  THE GIRL.

Blue pigtails. Stainless white gown. Ruby-red eyes, bloodshot. Freckled face, smiling— too white, too pure. She floated in the sky, angelic but more than that; it was God.

  It was a God.

  IT WAS A GOD.

Jeremiah’s eyes, they broke time and dilated. He tried to move his head, he couldn’t. He couldn’t even move the hair on his arms, as everyone beside him froze.

Everyone in Floria froze— except those in the Cathedral of course.

  The God’s smile, it glowed.

  “How boring.”

“I guess because of what happened yesterday in Invalia— I’ll return the favour.”

She lifted her hand in the sky, her voice— it had no emotion, no tone, no empathy, no hatred. It had nothing.

  IT HAD NOTHING.

Her right hand focused on the sky, solely on the sky.

“Time to start the end of the worlds.”

Her hand glew, spirals formated around it. Her whole arm turned into spirals— bold, big, large, enormous, grand, tall, big, big spirals.

Red, Blue, White, Black, Purple, Pink spirals.

  SPIRALS.

The world began to shake— vibrating, violently. The fortress tumbled to the left side, everything collapsing— falling. Breaking.

But no damage was done to the six outside, who knows about the many inside.

The world shook— the snow evaporated into a pool of boiling blood, but those sitting couldn’t feel the burn, they couldn’t feel the heat.

  They couldn’t even see it.

Jeremiah snapped, he snapped out. He felt it— the boiling, the heat, the stench, the debris, the chaos, the potential deaths around the world, the likely deaths in the fortress.

The crater behind him— caused by the fortress, the gigantic library, all works lost— forgotten, destroyed. Then he realised. Jeremiah realized his heartbeat wasn’t his own anymore — it was hers.

The world began to pulsate as the figure stood in the sky— uncaring, hand still raised in the air.

Jeremiah’s roared, saliva dripping out his mouth as the lollipop tumbled into the pool of blood— making a ring.

  “SAMIEEEEEEEL!”

  The God of Monsters ignored.

  Actually she didn’t.

She smiled— harder, blood dripping, angelic— sublime blood dripping, it was coloured in a blue hue.

It leaked from her teeth— the gums cracking before being instantly repaired again.

  “Now everyone suffer.”
