Rich Female Student- Monster noises? Are you sure about that? In a space as safe as this? In the Golden Eden Academy? A place where the elite of the elite are?

  Blond Female Student- Yes, I’m sure about it! And that is not the only place either! In fact, all around the Academy at several times of the day, you can hear faint sounds of monsters. Not only that, I was also told that, when it happens, the people in that area, they start to feel weird, as if the air becomes heavy for brief moments and like, it gets hard to breathe a stuff. Like, dizzy too… Stuff like that.

  “Alright, listen to me very carefully.”

  “G-Go on.”

  Rich Female Student- I implore you that, you change whoever is giving you this information because, it sure sounds like they are on something. Something powerful if I say myself and I do speak from experience.

  Blond Female Student- I mean, I think they were sober but now that like you said that maybe like I should pay more attention next time... Also, what do you mean by that?

  “Nothing.”

  And she was rather quick. Huh, I wonder why.

  Rich Female Student- Do you have anything else to say? However, before you do so, whatever said individual told you, don’t even bother, their credibility sure dropped down quite a bit since you said that.

  Blond Female Student- Huh, let me think for like, a little bit… I did hear something from my friend friend...

  Rich Female Student- Urgh, here we again with all of your friends! How many do you even have? 100? Since this is you, maybe even more!

  Blond Female Student- I don’t know, I never liked, counted then or anything like that. There are too many of them, you know? But anyway, I don’t remember right now, my mind is like blank you know?

  Rich Female Student- Not really as my mind unlike yours is always working, and correctly at that. Maybe you’re missing nutrients as we still haven’t taken a single bite yet. Yes, let’s eat. I'm actually quite tired from listening to you rumbling nonsense into my ears.

  Blond Female Student- What!? What do you mean by that? I’ve opened my heart for you and yet, you dare to say like, something like that to me!? Your best friend!? The one that would happily give her life for you!? Is that how you think of me!?

  “You see what I said? Here, eat this and shut up.”

  “Nom! Humph! Nom!”

  And so, with a “forced” spoon full of food into her mouth, this amazing conversation ends like that. Actually, not really, they keep on talking about some other random stuff as they eat just not to the same extent as they were doing. Meanwhile, our beautiful and definitely not confused Kiana, she actually did the opposite, finishing her food while they were mid conversation or in other words, she stayed there pretending that she still hasn’t finished so that she can eavesdrop on their conversation. Can’t blame her after all, these two sure are-

  “(Weird… These girls sure are odd, maybe it’s some rich people's behaviour? Although what she said about the monster did get my curiosity, maybe I should have a look around in the Academy just to be safe.)”

  With this in mind, she goes on her merry way to do a quick patrol around the Academy. She first decided to go to the bathroom where the supposed “creepy” sound was heard. Once there she found nothing at all, or at least nothing “creepy” or out of the ordinary. No moaning sounds, no “skreee” sounds, nothing at all. Well, time to move on to the next spot then. From here she went to the gym, behind it in this case and once again, no monster sounds, no weird sounds, no creepy sounds and so on, another bust in other words. Since she didn’t find anything, she decided to do a lap around the Academy but while doing so, she ends up bumping into someone who she knows. Someone that possibly thinks the same way as her.

  “Miss Eris? What a coincidence seeing you here.”

  Kiana- Oh, hi Miss Florence-san! How are you today? Also, you can call me Kiana, no need for you to be this polite with poor ol’ me after all, I’m just a simple girl!

  Alice- If that is the case then, you can call me Alice to, in here we are equal after all. Anyway, what brings you here? Are you having a look around? Getting familiar with the Academy?

  Kiana- Yes and no, I’m actually investigating something that I heard a few minutes ago. When I was having lunch at the canteen, I heard this from a pair of girls...

  With quite the casual look on her face, she proceeds to tell Alice everything that she has heard from those two girls. Alice is not surprised at all to hear this after all, she was also patrolling around the Academy in hopes to get to the bottom of the monsters’ rumours she has also been hearing since last week. Unfortunately, until now, she has not been able to find anything at all.

  Alice- It seems we think more alike than I could expect. I also have heard similar rumours to yours but I did so a week ago. I’ve been investigating until now and found nothing yet. Normally I don’t take rumours too seriously but, after what happened to Miss Pandora and you of course, I’m a little “afraid” that more students have got their hands on some summoning stones. After all, those students that you “fought” last week, we think that, someone gave them those summoning stones.

  Good way of seeing things Alice, no wonder people hold you so high up there. What I mean by this is that, her way of thinking is more than correct after all and just like she said, there is a good chance that, more students have summoning stones ones that can “hold” on them monsters as strong if not even more than the Black Wolf Fang, these alone are capable of killing, and I mean that, more than 90% of the population of the Academy. A B rank monster will end 99.9% of them. Yep, I think anyone can see just how dangerous this situation truly is and the fact that someone might be giving these students those summoning stones makes the situation far more dangerous. To make it even worse, the students that were bullying Anya, none of them could control the Black Wolves Fang, if Kiana was not there, they would end up getting teared apart by them. Argh, the more I think about it the more worries I get, just why would someone do such a thing?

  Kiana- Ah, now that you are saying that, I do remember one of them saying something like that… Uhm, are you the only one who has been doing the investigation? The Academy is rather big, unless you’re running around as fast as the speed of sound itself, it’s quite easy for anyone to do something suspicious without getting caught.

  Alice- I know that and that is why the student council is also helping me out. The problem with them is that, if they make too much “noise”, it might send those individuals into hiding, making it even harder for us to find them.

  “Wouldn’t that be better?”

  A simple phrase with as much of a simple meaning. However, Alice was not expecting this from Kiana and of course, her sharp eyes are wide open thanks to the shock. Not only that, she leans backwards just a little bit as the surprise forces her to do so.

  Alice- What do you mean by that? Don’t you want to bring justice down onto them? People might, in fact, someone already got hurt because of them. We cannot let them go into hiding without suffering the consequences of their actions. We have to do something.

  Kiana- You’re not wrong at all and I agree with you but, at the same time, if these individuals think they can get away with their shenanigans, even if we look for them discreetly, they will still keep doing their evil deeds, and just like you said, people will get hurt because of it.

  Alice- Wait a second, I think I understand what you’re trying to say. You’re proposing to tighten up security not only to potentially catch them but more so to force them to stop doing whatever they are trying to do as they will get caught, right?

  Kiana- Yes! Even with my Magic Sense skill I’m not finding anything at all, so either they are extremely powerful or very good at their job. Or maybe both. That’s actually quite worrying if it’s true…

  “(She also has the skill Magic Sense? Why am I even surprised at all? However, what does she mean by, not finding anything with that skill?)”

  Alice- Can you explain what you mean by that? The part of not finding anything with Magic Sense? You see, I just got that skill recently so I’m a little “green” in that regard, I have no clue what else can I do with it besides sensing someone's strength.

  Kiana- Yeah sure, no worries! Let me show you then, it’s easier than explaining it.

  With a gentle but excited smile on her face, she agrees to explain, show it, how Magic Sense skill really works. Slowly she gets closer to Alice, then she gently puts her hand on Alice's left shoulder. From here she tells Alice to close her eyes and to use her Magic Sense skill. The moment she does so, she’s instantly “feels” all the magic around her, Kiana included of course and this alone is surprising her the most as it’s very different from the other day in fact, the other day phenomenon was more so thanks to her brain trying to process the sudden sense of magic into a concrete image. What’s happening now is nothing more than a vague sensation of where magic around her is, a more “real” effect of the Magic Sense skill.

  Anyway, Kiana then proceeds to tell her that, with enough magic control, we can reduce the amount of natural magic energy anyone emits into the world, basically making this skill useless even if said person is right next to you. Physical contact however, it’s something far different as even with reducing the natural magic output to zero, since there is physical touch, you can still sense their magic from it as said magic will always move around the body. To make things even more complex is the fact that the skill has a range to how far it can pick up magic, in Alice’s case is an area of around 25 meters, any more than that, and she won’t feel a thing. Though, this is not that linear at all, if said individual is at 25 meters a single centimetre more then, Alice won’t sense him however, since the magic that we send into the world is not stuck on us, Alice will still be able to sense this individual. Just think of this way, let’s say that an S rank monster is right around the corner at 30 meters from them. By logic you would think that Alice wouldn’t be able to sense this monster even though he is powerful enough to raze a city by himself, all because he is out of range of her skill. What happens in reality is that, since this monster is so powerful his magic ends up covering a wide area around him, the further from him the weaker it is while the closer, the stronger. In other words, thanks to this simple phenomenon, Alice will still be able to sense said monster.

  Alice- Oh wow, I really didn’t have a clue this skill worked like this. From what I’ve read I thought I would be able to sense magic and that’s it, yes, I knew about the range factor but nothing else. How did you figure it out? Did anyone teach you this?
