(94)Chapter 2.3.2 – Is It Wrong for a Magical Girl to Tackle the Dungeon? (Part 8)

“Miss Kiana! It’s good to see you again, you sure took your time! How did the dungeon exploration go? Did you get the itch out of it? Any luck at all?”

Kiana- Huh, itch? I never had an itch… I think? An-anyway, I do have some news about it...

And so, after first being confused about said itch, one that she definitely had but one that she failed to understand, she then proceeds to tell Katarina everything she found in the dungeon. I mean all of it, from the monsters there, the layout of the floors itself, she also said that the 8th and 9th floors are the most dangerous before boss floor, all thanks to the corridor-like shape they have. After this, she told her about everything that happened on the boss floor, from the choices she had to how everything looks like and of course, the most important one, the fact that she found a checkpoint. Though, she did start with the entrance and the seal for it then the lobby, the teleport magic circle in there and how spacious that place is and felt. As we all can see, Katarina is in disbelief, though this only happens when Kiana told her about the checkpoint and the hoops, she had to go through to find it.

  “No way… You actually found a checkpoint…”

Yep, she’s more than surprised at this fact. But moving on, after processing every single bit of information she got from our lovely Kiana, she puts on a serious face, ready to do business as they say.

Katarina- No wonder no one has ever found a checkpoint at all, if they are hidden like that, it can easily explain it. I will say thought that, I am a little shocked about the entrance, the seal in this case, what I mean is that, normally in these cases, what the guild does from time to time is to have some specialist break the seal instead of deactivating it. It always comes back but that might as well be the reason. Not only that, your way is much easier, better and cheaper than what the guild used to do. However, I have to say that, even with your ground-breaking discovery, I still don’t think anything will change anything related to the dungeon.

Kiana- Mhmm, you think so? I mean, those 10 floors were boring as hell, so maybe that is why? Too much work for so little rewards? Not only that, the floors themselves are way too humid, even though I was not breaking a sweat, I was actually sweating! I have to take a shower because of that! And, and! The floors themselves are boring! Seriously, it took me almost 4 hours to reach the boss floor, that’s way too long! Who designed the dungeon? I need to talk to them and smack some sense into them.

Katarina- Hahaha! For someone whose strength is at A rank I can believe all of that. But what about treasures? Did you find anything worth saying? You said that the 10th floor gave you that amulet, but what about the other floors? Did you find anything at all?

Kiana- Nope, nothing at all. I just have said element and the magic stones from the monsters that I defeated. Here, I want to sell all of them, in fact, I will buy myself a pastole de notal to myself! Those are amazing!

And she butchered the damn name once again, not only that, she says it loudly, everyone inside of the guild, not that there are many people thought but easily around twenty, they face her as she’s being just a little too loud and of course, as she struggles to say the name Pastel de Nata. Everyone, and I mean it, even Katarina for crying out loud, they all giggle or straight up laugh at Kiana. After this and with a look on her face that easily tells you that, whatever nonsense she was spewing, she means all of it, she then puts her not definitely not weird looking at all purse, at top of the counter. Katarina stares at the purse trying to understand whatever this thing is trying to look like but then, Kiana starts to take out the magic stones and with it, her confused look quickly changes to a serious one as she calls by another worker to help her out, it seems they will be bringing the magic stones to the shop area.

Well then, our definitely not murderer Kiana, she has defeated 169 monsters plus those 20 in the 10th floor equalling a total of 189 monsters slain. The sheer number does surprise the two of them, Katarina and her co-worker; however, this is more so because Kiana had 189 magic stones inside of the purse. From those 189 magic stones, two of them are from elemental slimes, 6 of them are from big slimes, 40 are from medium slimes and the rest 141 are from goblins, even though slimes were as common as the goblins or in this case even more thanks to the earlier floors, she still defeated a massive number of them compared to all of the others.

She really hates goblins, now does she?

Whatever, while I question the reason for such vivid hatred towards them, 20 whole minutes later, they are finally done taking out all of the magic stones from Kiana purse and selling them. Katarina's co-worker goes on with her work, while Katarina walks up to her initial position but with a small bag, one that seems to be filled with coins. Ah, the results of her not so much hard work! With her golden eyes shining beautifully, a shine that seems to resemble the sun itself and with her silklike lips extended to the sides and upwards, forming a smile that you can easily get lost on it, she stares at the small bag that Katarina has in her hands. Yep, she sure is happy and excited, I just hope she does not get disappointed at all.

Katarina- Well Miss Kiana, here’s your reward from all those magic stones. Although they all belong to low rank monsters, the quantity you had sure was something else. I really didn’t expect for you to slain so many and much less that purse could hold so many magic stones. Does that have the skill Pocket Dimension on it?

Kiana- Yes of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to bring all of them with my small hands. This purse has been with me for a long, long time. Someone that I hold dear made it to me then, someone else that I also hold dear, she infused it with a few skills and magic spells, Pocket Dimension was one of them.

Katarina- I see, I would never have guessed it has so much value to you. But unfortunately, I have to say that, all of these monsters that you’ve slain, they won’t count for your record, as I said, since the guild is not taking any dungeon quests at all, anything and everything you do in there won’t be recorded.

Kiana- Ah, I know that, don’t worry about it! As I said earlier, I wanted to explore the dungeon and since I was quite curious about it, even though it was beyond boring, it was worth it. Not only that, I was also able to make some money! Hehe! The most important thing about this, the one that will allow me to buy those pistel of netol!

Kiana, it’s Pastel de Nata, not pistel, not pastal, not whatever comes out from that cute mouth of yours, it is Pastel! Then, it’s not natil, netol, natel or whatever you’re trying to say, it is Nata! Pastel de Nata! Moving on! I’m getting worked up for no reason at all, almost as if it’s a type of cuisine from the country I’m born from or something like that. Anyway, let’s do some math and see how much she gets and if it really was worth the effort or not.

  Ahem!

Each D- rank magic stone and below, they are valued at 5 coins while the D rank magic stones are at 10 and the D+ rank ones are at 15 coins. Kiana defeated two D+ monsters worth in total 30 coins, another six D rank monsters, that totals 60 coins and for last, 181 D- monsters for a grand total of 905 coins, adding everything together should make 995 coins. Quite a bit but not at the same time however, Kiana is happy for it so, everything is good, I guess. Not worth it though. After this Kiana bids her goodbyes to Katarina and goes to buy the Pastel de Nata, she bought three of them, costing once again 25 coins, it seems the old lady added another discount for her. Anyway, after enjoying a single one as she wants to eat another one for breakfast and the last one for whenever she wants to, she goes home afterwards. The first thing that she does once at home is of course, to take the so-called shower that she referred back to, then, the rest of her day goes like normal and the same thing can be said about the next five days.

Before that, let’s see Kiana's economic status; Her adventurer rank is still the same so in that regard, nothing has changed however, she’s now a little richer than before. She now has a grand total of 1550 coins.

  April 2, Tuesday.

There is not much that I can say about this day, she woke up, enjoyed her Pastel de Nata with a cup of milk, from there she did her normal routine, she had classes in the morning and after that, in the afternoon, she decided to stay in the Academy in hopes to find something that would interest her. After all, she has to find a special class until the end of the next week or she might be expelled from the Academy and of course, that’s something that she should avoid at all costs.

  April 3, Wednesday.

More of the same, but this time after classes, she decided to take on a quest, that in this case is a simple gather quest. This quest rewarded her 150 coins and 10 points for her rank. The quest itself took around 1:45h, where 1:30h of it was from her walking to the forest and back. Though right after this, she went shopping, after all, she needs her day-to-day essentials as much as food. This shopping cost her 250 coins and she didn’t buy any food at all, just products for hygiene. Right now, she’s at D- rank with 20 points and she needs to have 100 points to reach D and 300 for D+. Her economic situation got worse of course, from those 150 coins she got, she spent 100 more making her budget decrease a little bit to 1450 coins.

April 4 and 5, Thursday and Friday.

On the 4th day she had classes all day, though it was by her choice as for some reason, she decided to have all day filled with classes. The rest of the day goes like normal, a boring normal day in Kiana life. On the 5th day the same happens however, her anxiety is slowly starting to consume her as she still has to decide on a special class. The day itself goes like normal, classes in the morning and in the afternoon, she has a look around in the Academy trying to find something, but the end results are unfortunately, the same.

  April 6, Saturday.

In the morning she decided to stay home, it seems she had homework to do. Wait, homework? How’s that even possible? Maybe she’s studying instead? Actually, after looking at her and what she’s doing with more care, that might be the truth. Coloured me surprised but, anyway, in the afternoon she went to the guild to do another quest. Once again, she did a gather quest though this time around she was able to accept three quests at once, same type of quests to be precise, awarding a total of 400 coins and 30 points for her adventurer rank. One of the quests awarded her 75 coins, one 100 coins and the last one 125 coins. With this her points have increased to a total of 50 and her budget would’ve further increased if she didn’t go shopping although this time, it was for food. She ended up spending 375 coins making the budget only increase by 25 coins, totalling 1475 coins. After this she went on her merry day, going home afterwards. However, thanks to the anxiety she’s feeling, at the back of her mind, at the corner of it, something is starting to bother her a little too much, making her feel uneasy as she lays on top of her bed with her pyjamas on and ready for sleep.
