(92)Chapter 2.3.2 – Is It Wrong for a Magical Girl to Tackle the Dungeon? (Part 6)

“Elemental Slimes? That’s quite the step up from the big smiles, let alone from the medium slimes and the disgusting goblins.”

That’s correct Miss Kiana, they really are a step up from all of them, not only that, both the big slimes and the Elemental Slimes were not present in the previous floors at all. Maybe it’s because she chose the hardest difficulty? Anyway, there are quite a few of them right now just as I mentioned before, however, they are “divided” equally in a sense that they have the same firepower both at the front and at the back. There are two elemental slimes, one on each side and next to these two, three big slimes are present and the rest six, twelve if we count all of them together, these ones are medium slimes. No small slime or goblin to be seen. The biggest “threat” and the reason for that comment from her are in fact the Elemental Slimes, but why’s that?

It’s simple, while the big slimes are at D- rank the Elemental ones are at D+. They might be in the same rank “category” but there is a massive difference between them, magnitudes even. The big slimes as the name says, they are big, around 50% bigger than the medium slimes and their magic sense ability is also far stronger, being able to notice Kiana from at least from 5 meters instead of the 50 centimetres. The Elemental Slimes are exactly the same size as the big smiles, what makes them D+ rank is the simple fact that they can use magic spells however, they can only use spells from the element that they are. For example, a Pyro Elemental Slime can use the spell Firebolt, Low Flame and so on, low level spells. However, if they somehow live for long enough and for some inexplicable way, one that has us questioning everything about magic and how it works, it’s that they can actually learn higher tier spells, like for example Fireball or even Kiana Inferno Flames. It does not make any sense at all that such low-level creatures could achieve such a thing, but reality is often confusing and hard to accept.

Either way, enough of my jabbering, the Hydro Elemental Slime behind her is about to do something as he has three magic circles above him, ones that coincidently divide him in three equal parts. I didn’t mention but in front of her there are only GEO slimes, while behind her are only Hydro slimes.

  Magic noises!

Mere moments later, said slime shoots towards the back of our Kiana with several bullets made of water, or in other word, Hydro Bullets. They are around 3-5 centimetres of length and width, something similar to what Roxy used when they fought in the mock battles and just like in her case, these bullets are rather slow. As anyone can guess, even with her back to the slime she still was able to easily dodge all of them by simply sidestepping. The slime for some reason, not really though, he was aiming at Kiana's head and while I more than doubt it would do much damage if any at all, in a normal case, it would instantly kill someone and it would be quite the gruesome death at that. Yep, just nature being nature and, in this case, since Kiana dodged those bullets rather than destroying and because of this, they will keep on traveling at moderate speed until they hit something or in other words-

  Bam! Bam! Bam!

The majority of the Hydro Bullets end up hitting the GEO slimes that are in front of Kiana, while the big ones and the Elemental ones took the hit like a champion. I cannot say the same about the medium slimes, ones that were defeated, reducing their number to five. While they might be able to learn high tier spells that does not mean they are smart at all.

  Rock noises!

Even after getting hit the GEO Elemental Slime makes no waste with his next move as he prepares to launch at her a GEO spell, Rock Throw in this case. Ah, another thing, for some reason when Kiana dodged the volley of bullets, she faced the Hydro Elemental Slime when that happened. Rock Throw is a simple spell one where, as the name suggest, you throw a rock at your opponent, on the slime case the rock is much bigger than the Hydro Bullets but nothing out of this world being close to the size of a football, not only that, it’s much, and I mean, much slower than the bullets. With this in mind and with the rock getting closer and closer to her, rather than dodging it just like before, instead, she does something completely different. She dashes towards the group of Hydro slimes with decent speed, nothing out of this world but fast enough to cover the distance between them in a second or so, leaving in the process the Rock Throw spell useless as it hit the ground dead on.

  Swoosh!

Once she was close enough to one of the slimes, a medium one in this case, with a simple down swing she cuts down the slime, a clean and perfect cut, defeating him in the process. Next to this one there are another two, one in each side, with this, she goes from a down swing to a sideways swing, facing the blade towards her right first, cutting the smile horizontally, once her arm stops thanks to the limit of the human body, from there, she does the same thing but now towards the slime on her left. Three are down, but a few more are about to also go down. In front of her three slimes gather, two medium and one big, eager to take her on, because of this, a small smile appears on her face as she readies up a short dash. She bends her knees slightly, leaning forward another “slightly”, with her right arm down and on her left side of her waist, with her scissor half all the way backwards and pointing the same way, she’s ready to strike these three.

  “Lightning Strike!”

  Lightning noises!

Uh, once again she did something way to overkill for mere slimes but here it comes. I thought she wanted to do a short dash but oh boy, I was wrong. Just to get an idea, she’s currently a few meters from the set of stairs to the previous floor. Not only that, the dash itself was done in a blink of an eye. To make this even “worse” not only she decimated those three slimes leaving only the magic stone (thankfully) and a few Electro particles or in other words, a few sparks in the air. The strike was nothing more than a horizontal swing, similar to the ones from before, the only difference is of course the strength and the sheer speed, one that didn’t break the speed of sound, not even close, but way too fast for these poor slimes. Seriously is she a little to excit-

“Ups! It seems I’m a little excited Tee-hee?!”

Tee-hee?, my beautifully Heroic rear end! Calm down, you’re fighting slimes for crying out loud! Sigh… Whatever, from here she walks up to the remaining group of Hydro slimes, one whose numbers have dropped down to four. However, once she reaches around halfway the distance, she raises her left hand towards one of them and in front of the palm of her hand a red circle appears, one that is for the small side. It seems she will be using a magic spell and from the size I will say that it’s for the weak side but, I don’t know anymore, I just hope it’s not something akin to the Inferno-

  “Firebolt!”

  Fire noises! Steam noises!

Finally! Something more down to earth! Or should I say to the situation at hand? Either way, this Firebolt is close to C- rank in terms of strength, nothing out of this world but more than enough to even defeat the Elemental Slimes and in fact, she does launch the Firebolt towards the Hydro Elemental Slime that unfortunately, he was unable to do anything at all, slimes are not that fast. Once the Firebolt hits the slime a steam explosion follows it, blowing up the slime into several pieces (the magic stone was left intact) and at the same time, leaving a steam cloud big and dense enough to fully cover the entire arena. Right after this happens, Kiana dashes towards the remaining Hydro slimes, defeating the three of them with simple swings.

  Boing!

Something that I never talked about is that, while Kiana has a lot more magic energy than any of them slimes, the opposite behaviour from the slimes in the uppers floors is happening, in this floor they simply seem to not care at all about the massive gap between their strength, as if they are “programmed” differently than the other ones. Kiana magic energy is around C rank or in other words, far more than any of them, in a normal situation even the Elemental Slimes would be quivering in fear trying to not get seen by Kiana and yet, here they are looking around for her.

  Boing!

Bounce after bounce, jump after jump, they are doing their best to find Kiana in midst the steam cloud but, not only Kiana is actively avoiding them making them not being able to find her in the process, she’s also carefully watching how they behave after all, this different attitude from them caught her attention.

“Fascinating! It was already odd that they were fighting with me but in this case, they are actively trying to hunt me down. What changed about them?”

Her voice is loud and clear, one filled with surprise as she didn’t expect this from them, not only that, the voice echoes a little bit thanks to the size of the floor. Anyway, Kiana is standing still, carefully listening to the slime’s bounces, it seems she has reduced her magic output to the very minimum as otherwise the Elemental Slimes would already have found her. However, with this, she’s also unable to see and sense them since the steam cloud is that dense and she’s also avoiding increasing her magic output. If this was a “real” battle, one where your life is a stake, what Kiana is doing is not wrong per say but very dangerous, losing your opponent is not good at all but since this goes both ways, if he does not know where you are, it leaves an opening for ambushes for example.

  Step!

Then, slowly but accurately, she walks up to one of the clueless slimes, one that is desperate to find her. Once she was close enough, with a swing as fast as the previous one, but one as silent as the peaceful night in an abandoned house, she cut down the slime in half. It was a medium slime but only four are now alive. However, the moment this slime, this familiar magic signature disappears, the other slimes bounce with more violence, something happened to him and that alone tells them that she's close by. With everything they have, they jump towards the last location of their friend only to find nothing at all. The sudden spike in magic energy, the disappearance of their friend and yet, none of them are to be found.

  Slash!

Then, the lone big slime, one that was at the back of them, with a precise and quiet swing he’s also cut down in half. Once again, another familiar magic signature and another spike in magic is sensed by them but this time, behind them. The same process happens, once they are there none of them are to be seen. Kiana is hunting them down one by one just like a cat hunts for their food although in their cases, they have the tendency to play with said food. Something similar to what Kiana is doing to these poor slimes.

  Boing!

Three of them are left and unfortunately, while two of them are in a pair, the Elemental Slime is all by himself, leaving him as the next prey. Or maybe not, after all, it’s much more effective if Kiana takes down the other two, ones that are weaker than him. Two strikes, just like the previous ones, but just as effective as those, those two are defeated and the Elemental Slime is left alone in the middle of this horror. Now what? What can this mere slime do? Even at the top of his evolution he still cannot do anything to Kiana, and yet, thanks to this floor “programming” his behaviour, he’s unable to see that or even understand it. Now imagine if this happens to a human.

  Quite cruel, wouldn’t you say?
