(88)Chapter 2.3.2 – Is It Wrong for a Magical Girl to Tackle the Dungeon? (Part 2)

  “Bam.”

  Magic noises! Lightning noises!

Her voice was gentle as she said this, as she quietly expressed this. From the tip of her index finger a small magic circle appears, one that has around 5 centimetres of diameter and one that has a purple colour to it, an Electro magic circle in this case. From the magic circle a small dark purple ball the same size of said magic circle is formed from it and the moment she said “bam”, the small magic ball was shoot towards the seal, hitting it a fraction of a second later and disabling the seal in the process but, the moment it got disable the seal, the magic circle also disappeared. What she just did was nothing more than the magic spell Lightning Jam, an Electro spell where you can destabilize a magic circle for example. Something similar to Dispel, but in this case rather than destabilizing, the Dispel cancels it.

  Colossal Door noises! Swoosh!

With the seal gone, the colossal doors automatically open, letting in all the air from the outside to the inside. It was so tightly sealed that no air was coming in and of course the moment it opened up, the difference in pressure was instantly felt, so much so that the dungeon seemed to suck in anything that was unfortunate enough to be close to it. While this only happens for a second or so since the pressure from the inside quickly matches the outside, the sheer force from this event is easily high enough to pull an average human being towards it, and I think you can imagine the damage it can do to him. Imagine standing still and out of nowhere, something grabs you and pulls towards what seems to be into the abyss itself for a second or so, if for some reason you have a weak neck then, you can believe it will be broken in this process. But moving on, with the same smirk on her face, but now with her chest puffed upwards by just a tiny bit as the sensation of accomplishment of what she just did hits her petite mind, she walks through doors and officially gets in. And no, the colossal doors don't shut the moment she’s fully in however, she’s instantly greeted by a set of stairs that go down from what seems to be an eternity

  Step!

Each of her footsteps echoes inside of the dungeon.

  Step!

This place is massive, each set of stairs is at least 10 meters wide and a meter or so of length.

  Step!

However, the reason for the echoing is not because of the size of the stairs, it’s because of how massive the place is. The ceiling is easily above 10 meters and from how the shape of this place is, it seems to be a cave. After descending the stairs for a few minutes, she arrives at what seems to be a lobby and of course, the sight does take her breath for a second or so. Even though she has tackled several dungeons in the past, this one is something that she never experienced before.

“Oh wow, this place is huge!”

  “Huge!”

  “Huge.”

  “Huge…”

Ah, what a great demonstration from our lovely Kiana! Since she was quite loud when she said the word “huge”, the dungeon responded to her, mimicking her charming voice several times until it was nothing more than an incomprehensible sound, or in other words, echo. If before the place felt massive then, this one straight out seems huge. First of all, the ceiling went from 10 meters to a whopping 15 metres of height and to my and her massive surprise and admiration, the ceiling is made of concrete as if a human civilization constructed it rather than being created by the dungeon itself, in fact, this whole lobby seems to be made by humans. The ground where our Kiana is standing on, it has massive marble tiles on it, polished ones at that, throughout the lobby there are several pillars that support this concrete ceiling and all of its weight, ones that have decorations on them easily telling anyone that sees then that, a sculptor had his hands on them. The same can be said about the walls and basically everything that you can see in here.

Let’s see things from a different view, just saying that the ceiling has 15 meters of height is not good enough to demonstrate how huge this place is. From where Kiana is, she’s right in the middle of the entrance. This entrance alone has 10 meters of width, then, from both directions, there are walls that seem to stretch to around 30 meters each, making the width of this lobby close to 70 meters. However, the length is quite a bit less than that, still massive at around 50 meters but less nonetheless. This makes the lobby 3500 square meters, way too big for it to be inside of a dungeon but now that I think about it, Katarina did say that, an expedition was completed in here so, they probably created this place for that specific reason. Not a bad investment I would say, that is, if they used the dungeon regularly. Anyway, the pillars that support the ceiling are laid out throughout the lobby, in an organized way of course, but these pillars are easily 3 square meters themselves, or in other words, thick. Understandable so after all, imagine all the weight they have to support.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

  Moving!

I was yapping for too long and while I was doing so, Kiana on the other hand, was and is walking towards the middle of the lobby. I didn’t mention but, there is something there, something that caught her attention.

“Is this a teleport magic circle? I thought that there weren’t any checkpoints at all…”

She says this with a confused look on her face and while checking the magic circle. It’s normal for her to be confused after all the info that Katarina gave her, some of it is already wrong. First it was the seal in the entrance and now this, what else then? Are you going to say that, at the end of the dungeon the monsters far surpass the so-called A rank they are supposed to be at? The dungeon itself does not have 100 floors but only 10? Whatever, we will only know once Kiana explores the dungeon. While the magic circle is quite big in size, easily 5 meters in diameter, it more than seems to not be activated, not that it would make a difference after all, the dungeon is not supposed to have checkpoints. This circle could lead to the entrance outside but from how easy it was to get here I more than doubt that. Maybe from the inside of the dungeon you can teleport here as long as you have a link towards this magic circle? A one way in teleport?

“That’s not the case, the magic circle was made to function in both ways.”

Well, that shut my theory down rather quickly. With a simple and quick inspection, she reaches this conclusion. The way that the magic circle was created, its properties allow him to be used to teleport somewhere else and to be teleported to it. This is something that happens to the dungeons that have checkpoints on them and it more than makes sense in these cases. Think of this as a small help from the dungeons as it makes it much easier and safer to use teleport magic inside of it as you are sure that it will teleport you too somewhere safe. After all, you wouldn’t want to be teleported to the inside of a wall, right?

“It does not work like that but either way, it seems that I can activate this without any problems whatsoever. I just need to pour a little bit of magic…”

I-I-Of course I knew that you can’t get teleported into a wall! Ahem! Anyway, let’s move on from this topic that I know very much about it apparently. As I said, the magic circle is for the big size, but in all four cardinal directions there are magic stones stuck on the ground, ones that are inside of the magic circle. These magic stones are nothing out of this world however, they are a type of magic stone that is used for fuel, magic fuel and I think anyone can easily guess what they are used for. With this in mind, Kiana walks up to each one of them, touching them and pouring a little magic at the same time. Once they are full of magic, they gain a soft bright blue colour and with all of them full, the magic circle gains a soft brightness to it, easily telling anyone that sees it that it's ready to be used. However, the moment this happened she did frown her eyebrows for some reason, it seems she didn’t get the results she wanted.

“Welp, there isn’t a single place that I can teleport to. It makes sense since they supposedly never found any checkpoints.”

To be honest, even I have no clue what she was expecting to happen. Katarina said several times that the dungeon does not have checkpoints so, why would any of them be active? Ah, she’s gone… While she was walking off, I did notice that the magic stones stopped emitting their bright light giving out the idea that they went into sleep mode. Quite the complex system if I say it myself, but now I wonder, was it done by humans or the dungeon? Even though this area is well below ground level and it’s also in a closed space, there is more than enough light present in here, Kiana has no trouble seeing anything nor do I. There are several boxes with around 15 centimetres of width and another 20 centimetres of height, stuck in the walls, pillars and even in the polished marble tiles throughout the room, these boxes are made of a weird material that is so transparent that the small magic gem inside of it can be easily seen, letting out the light from it and into the lobby. These magic gems also have a bluish colour to them and the light they give out is bright enough to light up at least an area of 30 square meters. The most fascinating thing about them is that they seem to be fuelled by the dungeon itself.

“Everything in here is so bizarre! This place easily seems to be made by humans for humans and yet, it was made by the dungeon…”

  Wait, what!?

Are you sure about that my darling? My beautiful Kiana? How is that even possible? Wait a second, I think I’ve found a reason... There is an unproven theory for this, one that says that, when a human dies inside of a dungeon, said dungeon absorbs the human, gaining his strength, his memories of his entire life, his knowledge, everything about him. Like I said, this is unproven and how can you prove such a thing? But, if it is true then, it can explain how a dungeon could achieve this. Anyway, once again I was jabbering for whatever reason, in the meantime, Kiana walks up to another set of stairs, ones that descend down but this time to the “real” dungeon. Before doing so she has one last look around, she uses her Magical Eyes and Magic Sense skill to see and or sense anything out of “ordinary”. However, nothing suspicious is to be seen here.
