Chapter 78: The Bet

Rulu said, “That Su Wen’s target is C.C. You. I must prioritize your safety. No matter the outcome this time, I cannot let you fall into his hands.”

C.C. said, “Then what do you plan to do? Are you going to abandon those rebels and run away?”

“Of course not.” Rulu glanced toward the cave entrance and, seeing no one following, lowered his voice and said, “Jason is outside right now. The Sanctuary’s troops probably haven’t arrived yet. I will go out and lure Jason away. C.C., you take the opportunity to leave the underground tunnel, then return to the school with Sphinx and A-Nui”

“What about you, Rulu? What will you do yourself?”

“I need to settle things with that Su Wen. Once it’s over, I will come back for you all.”

Hearing this, C.C. knew Rulu was about to do something dangerous again. She sighed helplessly and said, “Alright, I know it’s useless to persuade you. Rulu, don’t die, okay? Don’t forget Nana is still waiting for you to come back. You still owe me one thing.”

“What nonsense are you talking about? Of course, nothing will happen to me.” Rulu said lightly. After a pause, he added, “But if I can’t come back, then Nana will have to rely on you, C.C., to take care of her.”

“I won’t agree to that. You have to do it yourself.”

Rulu was momentarily stunned but said nothing. He handed over his heavy silver staff to C.C., then quickly left the tunnel. Looking up at the sky, he saw a pink figure floating about fifty meters above the tunnel.

“Only Jason knows where Su Wen is. To get rid of Su Wen, I have to start with Jason,” Rulu thought as he soared on the wind. He flew and jumped across city buildings, climbing higher and higher. After a while, Rulu arrived at the rooftop of a building over thirty stories tall.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Jason, floating in midair, noticed Rulu’s movements. He cautiously scanned the surroundings, and after confirming Rulu was alone, he followed him to the rooftop. Standing about twenty meters opposite Rulu, the two silently stared at each other, each trying to guess the other’s intentions.

After about half a minute, Jason spoke first: “You assassin sent to kill Governor Su, what do you want by deliberately luring me to a place like this? Where are your two monster subordinates?”

Rulu said, “Don’t worry, they’re not here. It’s just the two of us.”

“Oh? Then you dare come here alone?” Jason’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. He pulled out two silver, gleaming daggers, intending to kill Rulu while those two monsters were absent.

Although Rulu sensed Jason’s intention, he remained calm and said, “Before you act, I must remind you: if I die, your Governor Su Wen will never find the person he’s looking for.”

Jason hesitated at these words. He took out a communicator and quietly said, “This is me, Governor. The assassin is alone with me now. He says only he can find the person you want. How should I deal with him?”

Governor Su Wen was silent for a moment, then said, “Don’t kill him yet. Capture him alive. Keep him alive until you catch the green-haired woman with him.”

“Understood,” Jason said, refocusing on Rulu. “What exactly do you want?”

“I want to bet with you.”

“A bet? What kind of bet?”

“Simple. A one-on-one fair duel. If I win, you immediately withdraw your troops, stop chasing the rebels, and let all of us leave safely.”

  “And if I win?”

“If you win, I will hand over the person Governor Su Wen wants. How about it? Do you dare to bet with me?”

A smile appeared on Jason’s lips. He thought that at such a height, those two monsters couldn’t reach here, so a one-on-one duel was a sure win. He said, “Fine, I agree...”

As soon as he finished speaking, Rulu immediately drew a pistol and fired several shots at Jason. Jason, caught off guard by the sudden attack, was hit in the shoulder by a bullet. He quickly flew up, hovering in the air, staring at Rulu with hatred and said, “Do you think you can beat me like this? This little wound I can heal easily.”

“Don’t rush. This is just the beginning,” Rulu said coldly. He pulled out another pistol and attacked Jason in the air with both guns simultaneously. Jason swiftly dodged from his original position, moving nimbly in the air. Rulu fired seven or eight shots, but Jason easily evaded all of them; not a single bullet hit him.
