Chapter 76: Breaking the Siege

Rulu sat inside one of the armored transport vehicles of the rebel convoy, heading east along with the rest of the rebel forces. During the march, Captain Guan occasionally communicated with General Li’s troops, inquiring about the situation on that front.

General Li replied that the Sanctuary had dispatched heavy troops to secure several key transportation routes, blocking their retreat paths. Their forces had attempted to break through several times but had been repelled by the Sanctuary’s army. Due to continuous attacks from the Sanctuary, their numbers were steadily decreasing. If they could not break out soon, they might face total annihilation.

“Commander, the situation with General Li is getting worse. What should we do? How can we rescue them?” Captain Guan said anxiously into the communicator.

“Don’t worry, just wait a little longer. I promise I will get General Li and his men out,” Rulu said calmly.

“But soon we will reach the underground tunnel, where the communication signals are poor. We will lose contact with General Li then; we can’t delay any longer.”

“Are we almost there? Alright, I will start acting now.”

“That’s great! By the way, what should we do?”

“You don’t need to do anything, just maintain the status quo.”

“Maintain the status quo? How can that work? How can we save General Li’s troops like that?”

“Captain Guan, you can rest assured. Just sit in the vehicle and enjoy the scenery while waiting for my good news.”

“Uh, okay… fine.” Captain Guan said, half-convinced, and then cut off the communication.

The other rebel members in the vehicle overheard the conversation between Rulu and Captain Guan and began to whisper among themselves: “Hey, do you think that guy can actually do it? We’re so far from General Li’s troops; how could he possibly save them?!”

“Yeah, he even said we don’t have to do anything. Is he planning to drive away the Sanctuary’s army with his mind? That’s just ridiculous.”

“If that’s all it takes to save General Li’s troops, it would be a miracle. It’s practically impossible.”

“I think he wants to betray General Li’s troops to cover his own escape. That coward, that liar!”

“Sigh, at this point, it’s useless to say anything. General Li’s troops are doomed, we are doomed, and the Huaxia Nation is doomed!”

The rebels sighed deeply, feeling a sense of impending doom. Meanwhile, Rulu took action. He exited the armored transport vehicle and climbed onto the roof through the hatch, followed by C.C., A-Bing, and Sphinx, who stood beside him.

Rulu first surveyed the surroundings and gazed into the sky. He noticed a small pink figure floating in the distance and took out a pre-prepared loudspeaker, placing it to his mouth to address the sky: “Jason, I have a gift I want to deliver to your Governor Suwen. Come and receive this gift I have for you.”

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Upon hearing this, Jason flew towards the source of the voice. When he realized it was the masked man in black, accompanied by the Sphinx and the four-armed Minotaur, he halted in mid-air, staring at the black-clad figure from a distance.

Rulu spoke again into the loudspeaker: “Jason, where is your Governor Suwen? Does he not want my gift anymore?”

Jason was puzzled and completely unsure of what Rulu was talking about. Since Rulu mentioned Governor Suwen, he contacted him via communicator: “Governor, it’s me, Jason.”

Governor Suwen replied, “What is it? Is there a new situation on your side?”

“Well, the assassin who attacked you earlier suddenly told me that he wants to send you a gift.”

“A gift? What the hell does he want?!”

“I’m not sure, but I suspect he wants to trick me into getting close to him so he can attack me.”

“Then ignore him. Keep monitoring the movements of the rebel forces. Report to me immediately if anything happens.”

“Understood.” Jason said, about to terminate the communication when Rulu’s voice came through again: “Suwen, have you forgotten what the Emperor instructed you? Don’t you want to find the person the Emperor asked you to locate?”

These words reached Governor Suwen’s ears through Jason’s communicator. Upon hearing this, Governor Suwen quickly exclaimed, “Wait, what did that guy just say? Was he talking about the Emperor?!”

Jason replied, “It seems so. He mentioned someone the Emperor wants to find.”

After a brief silence, Governor Suwen asked, “What is the status of that assassin? Who is with him now?”

Jason observed Rulu’s surroundings from a distance and reported, “The assassin is accompanied by a four-armed Minotaur, a Sphinx, and… a long-haired young woman.”

“A long-haired young woman?!” Governor Suwen’s voice suddenly became tense as he hurriedly asked, “Does that woman have any obvious features?”

“Because the distance is a bit far, I can’t see her clearly, but her hair seems to be green—”

“Really? Are you sure her hair is green?!” Governor Suwen shouted in surprise.

  “Yes, I can confirm that.”

“Finally, I’ve found her! I can finally leave this damned place and return to the Sanctuary, hahahaha…” Governor Suwen became extremely excited, his words filled with joy.

Jason asked in confusion, “Governor, what are you talking about? Why are you so happy?”

Governor Suwen sternly replied, “Quickly, bring me that green-haired young woman.”

  “Now?”

  “Yes, now, immediately.”

Jason looked at the four-armed Minotaur and the Sphinx beside Rulu, a hesitant expression on his face, and said, “That might be a bit difficult. There are too many of them, and I am alone. It’s hard for me to accomplish this.”

“Useless! You’re supposed to be a level five Ultra-capable!” Governor Suwen shouted angrily. After a pause, he added, “Then send troops over. Dispatch the army to pursue them. We must intercept them before they reach the underground tunnel; otherwise, if they escape through the underground tunnel, it will be over.”

“Uh, that can’t be done either.” Jason felt very troubled. “The rebel army will reach the underground tunnel in less than ten minutes, and the troops we just dispatched will take at least half an hour to arrive at the entrance of the underground tunnel. I’m afraid we won’t be able to intercept those rebels.”

“Then let her escape? No, we absolutely cannot let her escape.” Governor Suwen became anxious and shouted, “Hurry, send our troops to the entrance of the underground tunnel. Block all the entrances to the underground tunnel. We must not let them get away.”

Jason said, “That’s not possible, Governor. There are more than twenty entrances to the underground tunnels in Blue Sea City. If we send troops to block all the entrances, it will deplete a significant portion of our forces. Our troops are currently engaged in battle with the rebels and cannot spare that many men for this task.”

“Forget about the rebel troops! The most urgent thing right now is to block all entrances to the underground tunnels. Everything else is secondary. I’ll say it again, this is the top priority! Do you understand?!” Governor Suwen nearly shouted.

“Yes… yes, I understand.” Jason was taken aback by Governor Suwen’s reaction. Although he didn’t understand why Governor Suwen was so adamant about this task, he issued orders to mobilize the Sanctuary troops currently fighting the rebels to rush to the entrances of the underground tunnels at full speed.
