It was 5:30 am and Seulgi got up to make breakfast for everyone. It was going to be busy today, everyone would need energy for the day. Since she had guests, she got up and put on her red silk robe. She went to do her normal routines.
Suki stared at her as she broke her own routines with the yakata looking robe. Even the cat was in awe of how graceful that her Human appeared. Still, the cat also knew that this apparent grace was a lie.
It’s OK because Seulgi also knows that Suki is not the most graceful being in the world, either. She’s known as ‘Butterpaws’ for a reason.
They do take turns heckling each other. It was a mostly good natured rivalry of mocking each other. One takes it more seriously than the other due to a competitive spirit. The other is a human, so the primary might not count the other as a qualified rival.
A quiet knock on the door alerted Seulgi of Jeong-Hui’s presence. Her soft voice said, “Breakfast will be ready in about five, Seulgi.”
“OK, I’ll be there!” She did expect them to be up, but not up and making breakfast. Then she remembered that there was some serious breakfast making stuff that they bought too. She sighed. She was not used to having breakfast with other people. But, with these two, she could see herself getting used to it quite easily. Wendy was lucky to grow up with these two.
She got her power business suit made of reds and bcks with bck silk stockings on. She looked very professional and not a bit of fur on her.
Yet, thought Suki. Give her time, there would be some before she left. It’s her job, after all, to let all other cats know that this human was cimed.
Seulgi rightfully distrusted the look in her cat’s eyes.
She left her jacket on the hanger in her room for safekeeping. She knew better than to leave it anywhere near where that furry rascal could get near it. The hanging of the jacket would not stop a sufficiently motivated cat. Especially this one. The jacket was in danger until Seulgi cimed it after breakfast.
Breakfast, like the dinner that Jeong-Hui had made, was fantastic. Seulgi made a mental note that if they stayed for long, she would have to make even more time for the gym as she was bound to get fat from this culinary excellence. It may be extra gym time, but it would be absolutely worth it. This brought a moment of sadness, missing her favorite workout partner.
They took the time to clean the dishes after breakfast. They were using the white porcein dishes with the blue flower patterns. Some people would have had a hard time imagining that Seulgi had a girly side that liked pretty things, but there you go. She had a bunch of pretty things in her home. Even her cat was pretty to look at.
“You two have both a key and permission to go as you like, but I do have to go into the office today. I have been away too long. You know how unpleasant things creep into your inbox and on your desk when you are away too long, right?”
They nodded in commiseration.
“So, I’ll stay there with you for about an hour, then I have to go to work.”
“We know, Seulgi. And we are very grateful for everything that you have done for us. We owe you for everything you have done,” He said.
“Nonsense, sir. I am sure that Wendy would be taking care of me if the position was reversed.”
“That does not change anything, dear. And it is the same for me, too,” She said.
“Well, thank you for your kind words. Let’s go see our girl.”
They all agreed, and one of them actively outed themselves by joining in the procession of cat worship, There was a quiet “You’d be better if you were a dog.” But it was ignored by everyone involved.
The humans checked to make sure they had everything. Seulgi made sure there was no extra hair on her jacket. It was fur-less, but not for a ck of trying. Seulgi gave her cat a smug look that was also ignored supremely.
Suki started the machinations of her next shedding event. It would be epic. Her human and guest would be sneezing for days. She giggled catty giggles.
The humans trooped down the tan and cream hallway to the elevators. They waited just a moment before it arrived, which is odd as there were normally deys in floors with people entering or exiting.
They even managed to swiftly descend to the parking garage. They had a pleasant chat in the elevator despite the amusement park ride feel and the dropping of their stomachs. It’s a good thing they had a fairly light breakfast. While it was not a wholly pleasant feeling, it was fast.
They got into the car, and Song-Hoon opened the door for his wife. All this demonstration of the old-school css was going to ruin chances for any of Seulgi’s next prospective boyfriends. The bar was being reset upwards pretty high. She hopes to meet someone who treats her like this. If the Parents knew what they were setting her up for, they would be smug in how they are affecting her.
They did have to take a detour on the way. Seulgi pulled into a gas station to fill up her car. She was one of those people who refused to let herself get below half a tank of fuel. This was one of those things that got drilled into her at driving school. It was also something that she did not object to. Not everything that was taught was worthless or blown out of proportion in these csses. When checking the tire’s air pressure, she made sure to check the spare tire as well. She could not bring herself to call these things bad habits no matter how much Nayeon teased her. In the rare times that cars came up in conversation at work, she found that she and Jackson did a lot of the same things. They traded notes on preventative care much to Nayeon’s evident disgust. That was OK because they said that they would not come to help her when she broke down. She could change her own tire. Especially since she asked how hard could it be to change a tire.
Seulgi asked the Parents if they needed anything from the store as she went into pay. They said that they were set, so she bought a bottle of water for herself. She went ahead and bought a rge bottle with a flip-top, so she could sip on it all day.
She got back into the car, her seat belt was engaged, the car started, and on the way to the hospital.
Traffic was moderate, even though this was technically rush hour. She was able to get to the hospital with little to no trouble. There was one particurly nasty pot hold that she could not avoid. Aside from that, it was smooth sailing.
She got to the hospital. After dropping them off at the entrance, she managed to find a parking spot fairly close to the front doors. It’s good that she had chosen to wear the more clunky square-heel shoes, so when she trotted over to them at the door, it was not nearly as dangerous for her as she normally would have been.
They got into another elevator and went to the fourth floor. The doors opened to a progressively depressingly familiar sight of the waiting room. The lifeless, sterile, white, and drab paintings did not take away from the fluorescent lights and polished floor.
They got to the door and saw a uniformed cop sitting there reading the paper while watching them approach. They identified themselves and the cop let them into the room.
What they were not expecting was Bhuwakul asking “Where’s Jackson?”
