3.8. The Sewer day

Jeolas was happy that none of his people knew that sewers were normally used to dispose of unwanted material, as the free nutrition this place provided was a dream come true for many of them. they did not question where the water came from that allowed for this kind of system.

The night was spent resting and planning for their further journey, with some people being helpful and others just joining his talks to throw in their personal opinion.

This group had split rather fast. Although everyone respected him and the goal to get revenge on the monster that dared to steal their starlight, some did so more than others.

Gathered around him were ten people, among them the robbers that still owed favours to him, two sceptics, three curious listeners and three fanatics, each of them commenting on his every sentence.

The sceptics doubted everything he said, including the existence of land outside the desert. The Fanatics continued to praise his Ideas, probably planning a sermon in his name again.

It was the neutrals that he was the most interested in, as their thoughts and talents helped him plan around the cultural habits of the people, while he implemented himself firmly into every discussion that happened on his table.

"Now, tomorrow or the day after, we should be ready to leave the desert, depending on the pace we move at. Now, I will have to meet their council, though it seems some of you are quite happy with the situation, I don't think staying here will help us further our plans."

With that, he concluded the first meeting of the day, the cultists already backing off to spread whatever he said as gospel, while Jeolas himself got ready for that days last meeting.

He waited for everyone to leave the improvised tactic room, before he searched for the next sever entrance and waited for a golem to carry him, the souls screams much louder, now that it was actively being dried by the sun.

It was a ten minute march to the conference hall, and every one of those minutes felt like hell to him, as it slowly burned away his skin.

When he finally entered the building the Margan around him had problems breathing and just about any dead creature in his vicinity became animated, following him like posessed as he turned them into golem.

When he arrived in the room prepared for todays meeting, he saw seven Mummies and a single Marga, the creatures all exuding an air of importance. One he responded to by utilizing mana to strengthen his own aura of Royalty.

Immediately, he was offered a glass of water. The liquid inside immediately absorbed into his shell, restoring it and allowing those around him to regain their breath as the toxic flakes stopped falling from his body, and simply remained on the ground.

"You wanted to discuss some things with us, and as I am the only representative of my kin, I assume that you are your peoples representative? Also, I recommend you keep me hydrated, those flakes of mine are agressive, and will tirn you into an undead and then into a golem under my kinds supervision."

He announced, the rocky defender standing silently next to him as a warning and an active thread.

"Thanks for the information... servant, fetch us a big water, our friend is not used to the heat."

He commanded, the sunburned obeying and rushing off to meet his lords demands.

"Now, we have called you to talk about future cooperation, who you are and whether there is any chance you might turn on us."

One of the mummies explained, listing of todays events as the agenda was written in glowing golden letters projected on a nearby wall.

"Those are pretty simple points. As some of our kin are willing to work as cleaners in your sewage systems, provided that they are paid accordingly. The resulting water will be safe to drink, as our people have perfected the art of cleaning water and protecting those water spots from others. The area will be taken as a residence by those who wish to stay behind, resulting in clean water all around the clock, and protect the place from any hostile forces entering it. That, and an alliance against those born of snow, with our only claim being the land bordering the sacret kingdom and an ok for our inquisitors to purge any believers of those Demons they believe in are the things we are currently willing to offer."

He went silent, waiting for them to start talking to cut them off.

"We are the Larv, descendants of the void and tainted by the divines darkness of this planets wannabe gods. We burn the darkness from anything we touch and live to make the world a better and purer place. I have been gifted with the power to animate the dead and capture their souls to fuel our advance, thus, every enemy we have will inevitably power our advances."

Finally, Jeolas left space for the council to answer. An opportunity they immediately made use of.

"The job offer is great, our mages need to work a lot to make sure the water stays clear, if any of your people want to stay and work as sever guards, we are happy to have them, and pay them something both sides consider appropriate. As for the alliance, we would need some evidence of your fighting powers. If one of your people can defeat one of ours, we would be willing to announce you as a religious order, with your headquaters placed close to the border. You will have to talk about that with the Marga Lord and the high council of the Mummy lords, before any descisions can be made. If those terms are acceptable to you, we would like to spar in todays dusk, choose a warrior of yours to fight one of ours, and tell us who will remain within our borders."

As Jeolan agreed to those conditions, he went outside again and slid back into the sewage system.
