Sihat day, the trio had bee inseparable. With Luffy assuming the role of an older brother, he also took on the responsibility of training Ann and Sabo. But Luffy's idea of training wasn't the fun and games they had imagi was a relentless, grueling ordeal that tested the very limits of their young bodies.
Luffy had warhem from the start: his training wouldn't be easy—it would be hell.
Ann and Sabo had ughed off his words, thinking he was exaggerating. But from the very first m, they realized the harsh reality of his promise.
Luffy began his day early, scarfing down a hearty breakfast prepared by Makino before heading to their secret hideout. The moment he arrived, there was no time for pleasantries.
Luffy strapped heavy weights onto Ann and Sabo's arms, legs, and torsos.
"We'll start with a light warm-up," He said, his tone lighthearted but his grin devilish. "Run around the entire forest. Twice."
"What?!" Ann excimed, staring at him in disbelief.
"That's impossible!" Sabo added, struggling to even stand with the added weight.
"You're wasting time talking," Luffy replied, already jogging ahead.
Relutly, the two followed, the weights digging into their bodies with every step. The forest trail was unfiving—twisting paths, uneven ground, and dense undergrowth made it a nightmare to navigate. Despite their protests and frequent stumbles, Luffy kept pace with them, correg their postures and urging them forward.
"Breathe properly! If you're out of breath, trol it—don't stop moving!" Luffy shouted, his voice cutting through the rustling leaves.
By the time they finished, Ann and Sabo colpsed, their bodies trembling and drenched i. But relief wasn't part of Luffy's pn. Without giving them a moment to rest, he uhem into an intense routine of basic drills: straight punches, hooks, uppercuts; front kicks, roundhouse kicks, sidekicks, and back kicks. Eaent had to be performed with precision, and Luffy's sharp eyes caught every mistake.
"Your punch is weak, Ann! Use your entire body!" He barked. "Sabo, stop leaning forward—you'll lose your bance!"
Their pints were met with a single, unyielding response: "Again!"
As the drills tinued, Luffy pushed them intth-training exercises: push-ups, sit-ups, oblique sit-ups, leapfrogs, duck walks, leg stretches, and even hanging upside down from tree branches. Every muscle in their bodies screamed for mercy, but Luffy remained relentless.
For Luffy, the basics were everything. Each pund kick had to el power from the ground up, utilizing every muscle in the body to deliver maximum force. He demonstrated this repeatedly, his movements fluid and precise, his strikes eg with raw power.
"The basics are the foundation of all martial arts," Luffy expined, his tone firm. "If you 't master these, you'll never handle advaeiques. Strength es from repetition, from honing the simplest movements until they bee instinct."
Ann and Sabo waue. They wao colpse. But Luffy wasn't just barking orders—he trained alongside them, exeg every set with the same iy he demanded from them. His own shirt was soaked with sweat, his breath heavy, but he opped.
Eventually, curiosity got the better of Sabo. Betwees, he finally blurted out, "Hey, Luffy! Why don't you wear weights too? Seems a bit unfair."
Luffy paused, a pyful grin spreading across his face. With a flourish, he lifted his shirt, revealing the heavy weights strapped across his chest, arms, and legs.
"How much… are you carrying?" Ann asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"About 100 kilograms in total," Luffy replied casually.
Ann and Sabo stared at him, their mouths agape. A hundred kilograms?! The realization hit them like a ton of bricks. They exged a look, their thoughts in perfect sync: What kind of monster is he?
But Luffy wasn't finished. M training transitioned into bat drills, where Ann and Sabo were forced to fight the wild animals of the forest. The creatures were fast, uable, and ferocious, f the duo to rely on their instincts and adapt to the fly.
"Your oppos won't wait for you to figure things out," Luffy said as he observed from a distance. "You have to think on your feet—or you'll be eaten alive."
Despite their initial protests, Ann and Sabo began to see the value in Luffy's brutal methods. They grew stronger, faster, and more resilient with each passing day.
Six months of releraining passed in the blink of an eye. Ann and Sabo had surpassed their former selves, their growth evident in every movement they made. Ann, with her sharp instincts and agility, had mastered Geppo, Tempest Kick, and Soru. Sabo, driven by his petitive nature, went even further, mastering all five teiques of the Six Powers. However, Ann still held a slight edge in bat due to her precision and adaptability.
One evening, after their final sparring session, Luffy gathered Ann and Sabo around him. The air was thick with anticipation as he spoke.
"It's time," Luffy began, his tone serious. "Time for you to learn about Haki."
The two sat attentively, their eyes wide with curiosity.
"Haki," Luffy expined, "is a power that inates from within the body. It's the maion of spiritual energy that allows you to achieve superhumas. It's rare in the East Blue, but once you reach the Grand Line, you'll find that most top-tier fighters rely on it."
He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in.
"There are three primary types of Haki," he tinued. "The first is Observation Haki. It grants you arasensory perception—an awareness of others' preserength, and even their emotions. With practice, you even gain limited preitive abilities."
Ann's eyes lit up. "So that's how you always know where the animals are, isn't it?"
Luffy nodded. "Exactly. I've been using Observation Haki to keep an eye on you tw training."
Raising two fingers, he moved on. "The sed type is Armament Haki." He held up his arm, and within seds, it was coated in a dark, metallic sheen that seemed to radiate power.
"This allows you to use your spiritual energy as armor, enhang your offensive and defensive capabilities. It even bypass the defenses of Devil Fruit users."
"Devil Fruits?" Sabo muttered, tilting his head in curiosity.
