Of course, Russell couldn't tell Daredevil the truth...
He couldn't just say, 'I'm from another world, and in my world, you're just a character from comics and movies.'
If he did, Daredevil would probably think he was insane and immediately distance himself.
"Secrets, huh?"
Although Daredevil didn't get the answer he wanted from Russell, he didn't sense any malice either.
"I can't tell you how I know, but I can assure you, I mean no harm, and I won't reveal your identity." Russell shrugged helplessly.
If Daredevil kept fixating on this issue, he might have to temporarily abandon the idea of cooperation.
"I do believe you mean no harm, but I hope you'll continue to keep my secret." Daredevil's response eased Russell's mind.
It seemed he wouldn't be leaving empty-handed tonight.
After a moment of contemption, Daredevil suddenly spoke up, "I can become your Syndicate's legal counsel, but before that, I have a favor to ask of you..."
"Go ahead. If it's within my power, I won't refuse." his request was a good sign for Russell.
It meant Daredevil was considering cooperation, and through him, Russell could potentially connect with people or forces he couldn't reach on his own.
More importantly, his assistance could alter Daredevil's future.
In other words, Russell had a chance to obtain what he most desired... Fate Points...
Daredevil made his request, "I need to find someone, a man codenamed Bullseye. He's Kingpin's top assassin. If you know his whereabouts, I hope you'll tell me."
Over the past while, the Daredevil had been disrupting Kingpin's operations but had yet to encounter Bullseye.
Russell was familiar with Bullseye. As Kingpin's right-hand man, he was essentially Kingpin's sharpest bde.
He was born with an uncanny accuracy in throwing objects, capable of turning anything into a weapon and hitting his targets from impossible angles.
He was also a master marksman and martial artist, proficient in various weapons and combat techniques, with superhuman strength, reflexes, and speed.
If Russell remembered correctly, Bullseye had killed Daredevil's former secretary and girlfriend, Karen Page.
"Can I ask about the history between you and Bullseye?"
Though in Russell's memory, Bullseye had killed Daredevil's girlfriend, but to be safe, he needed to confirm with Daredevil.
After all, this world wasn't developing exactly as he remembered. For example, Coulson and Skye's situation hadn't unfolded as he knew it.
"Last week, he killed my girlfriend..."
Although Daredevil tried to control his tone, Russell could sense the intense killing intent beneath his words.
"I'm sorry. I'll have my people look into Bullseye's whereabouts. If we find anything, I'll let you know immediately."
The fact that Bullseye and Daredevil's fates were still on their expected paths reassured Russell.
It seemed this world had indeed changed, but only partially. It hadn't completely deviated into the unknown.
After agreeing on a time for their next meeting, Daredevil quickly disappeared into the darkness, and Russell returned to the Syndicate building.
Even though it was te at night, the building was still brightly lit, making it a small ndmark in the area.
After calling Jessica and asking her to gather information on Bullseye, Russell headed to Dr. Wilson's office.
Dr. Wilson's office was on the 13th floor of the building, which was entirely dedicated to research.
Apart from Dr. Wilson and the research team, no one else was allowed on this floor.
This was Russell's first time visiting since the building's renovation.
When he entered Dr. Wilson's office, he found the doctor deep in thought, furiously calcuting something.
Scattered across the floor were discarded drafts of the doctor's calcutions... After gncing at the contents of these drafts, Russell decided not to look further.
The content was completely beyond his understanding, and continuing to read would only make him feel intellectually inadequate.
"Doctor!"
Dr. Wilson was so absorbed in his calcutions that he didn't notice Russell's arrival until Russell called out..
Realizing Russell was there, he put down his notes, "Oh, it's you. What's the matter?"
Since Russell rarely visited his office, the doctor couldn't guess his purpose.
"I was wondering if there's a virus that can spread through the air, infect people, and make them obey commands..."
Russell briefly described the Purple Man's abilities, hoping Dr. Wilson might have some knowledge or data on the subject.
"A virus that infects and controls people through speech?" Dr. Wilson thought for a moment, then shook his head, "Not that I know of. If such a virus existed, it would be a groundbreaking discovery..."
Dr. Wilson suddenly looked at Russell with intense curiosity, "Have you encountered this virus somewhere?"
"Not yet. But if I were to capture someone with this ability, could you reverse-engineer or extract the virus from them?"
Russell's only interest in the Purple Man was his ability to control people.
Beyond that, the Purple Man was of no use to him.
"I'd need to see the subject in person to determine that. I could probably figure out the mechanism behind the ability, but whether I can reverse-engineer or extract it, I can't say for sure yet."
Although Dr. Wilson couldn't guarantee success, this was enough for Russell to decide to capture the Purple Man.
"I'll bring him to you then."
With that, he prepared to leave the office, but Dr. Wilson spoke up again, "If possible, try to keep him alive."
Nodding slightly, Russell left the office and returned to his room, sending a message to Jasper.
Jessica was currently busy gathering intel on Kingpin and Bullseye, so she didn't have time to track down the Purple Man.
Moreover, she wasn't confident she could defeat him, so she hadn't pursued him.
She feared the Purple Man because she had been hurt by him before.
But Russell was different. He wasn't afraid of him, and the Purple Man's abilities might not even work on him...
