"Hello, Bcksmith Uncle, here's the ore you asked for." Feng Xiao politely handed over the ore as he returned to the newbie vilge weapon shop.
"Oh, it's you, Feng Hun. You've done well. Here's your reward." Bcksmith Zhang said ftly.
With the task complete, Feng Xiao received a level 5 blue equipment and 300 experience points from Bcksmith Zhang.
"Uncle Bcksmith, are you a forgemaster?" Feng Xiao asked somewhat curiously.
Hearing the word "forgemaster," Zhang's eyes immediately lit up, then dimmed again just as quickly. He sighed and said, "I am indeed a forgemaster. If you have any good materials, I can forge equipment for you, and the fee won't be too high."
"Oh, can you forge with immortal-grade materials?" Feng Xiao asked cautiously, not expecting much. After all, it was unlikely that any immortal-grade materials would be found in the newbie vilge, and the local forgemaster was probably not that skilled either.
"What? Immortal-grade materials?! Do you have immortal-grade materials?" Zhang almost jumped up, his hands quickly reaching out to grasp Feng Xiao's shoulders, as if afraid he might run off. His reaction was identical to that of the vilge chief when he heard about the Purple Jade Qingxin Chain. Feng Xiao rolled his eyes—turns out they both followed the same pattern of behavior in this vilge.
Before Feng Xiao could answer, Zhang quickly withdrew his hands, somewhat self-deprecatingly saying, "I just got too excited thinking about high-level materials. How could the newbie vilge possibly have immortal-grade materials?"
"Who says the newbie vilge doesn't have them? I have one right here." Feng Xiao muttered, then slowly and grandly pulled out the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt. Immediately, the white and golden light from the pelt filled the otherwise dim bcksmith shop with a lively glow.
As the light shone, Zhang's hands began to tremble, tears welled up in his eyes, and even drool began to flow... He snatched the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt from Feng Xiao, gazing at it in disbelief, touching it again and again, his emotions uncontainable.
Good materials are the lifeblood of a forgemaster. Forging a great piece of equipment is the pursuit and honor of any forgemaster's life. Zhang, an advanced forgemaster, had been stuck in this poor, backward newbie vilge for over 40 years, never having seen a high-level material. With his skills going unused, he had to make do selling low-quality white-tier equipment in the dark shop. The feeling was akin to being barren and without offspring.
Now, he had encountered the legendary immortal-grade material. The excitement he felt was something no outsider could truly understand.
"Feng Hun, please, you must allow me to forge something from this material for you... I won’t charge you a penny, and I’ll even use all the precious crystals I’ve collected over the years," Zhang said, trying to calm his excitement, his eyes burning with intensity. Once this opportunity was lost, there might never be another, so Zhang was ready to pull out all the stops to forge with the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt.
Zhang’s expression, as if starving for 800 years and suddenly seeing meat, made Feng Xiao reluctant to turn him down. Plus, it was free, and he was even throwing in the crystals. It all sounded too good to pass up. Feng Xiao smiled generously and said, "Alright, Uncle Bcksmith, please help me forge a cloak." Cloaks were a rare and stylish piece of equipment in Reincarnation, and the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt clearly stated that it could be used to forge one, so Feng Xiao made his decision without hesitation.
Upon hearing Feng Xiao’s affirmative answer, Zhang’s nervous excitement became apparent, almost as if he were a maiden awaiting her wedding night. He rummaged through his belongings, making cttering noises as he searched. After a while, a dust-covered Zhang emerged from beneath the bed, grinning widely, holding several shimmering gemstones in his hands. Feng Xiao fought the urge to leave, as he wanted to witness the forging process firsthand.
The smithy was locked down, temporarily preventing any other pyers from entering. Zhang carefully id the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt ft on the forge, adjusting its shape, before pcing four different colored crystals on top.
The fire in the forge bzed to life. Zhang took a deep breath, his eyes fixed on the fmes as he silently calcuted the right temperature. Feng Xiao watched him with great attention, not daring to speak for fear of disturbing him.
Suddenly, Zhang’s eyes gleamed, and his right hand pulled out a strangely shaped small hammer, moving with incredible speed to strike various parts of the Golden Snow Wolf Pelt. The hammering was so fast it left Feng Xiao awestruck.
During the process, the hammer occasionally brushed lightly against one of the gemstones, causing the gemstone to slowly fuse with the pelt, until it was completely absorbed. Feng Xiao curiously checked the properties of the gemstones:
Wind Spirit Stone: Spirit-level gem. When used in forging, it enhances agility and wind attributes of the forged item. It disappears if the forging fails.Purple Gold Stone: Spirit-level gem. When used in forging, it increases the forged item’s additional attributes by 20%. It disappears if the forging fails.Kunlun Jade: Immortal-level gem. When used in forging, it increases the cap for additional attributes, allowing up to two extra attributes to be added.Advanced Spirit Rune Stone: Immortal-level gem. Increases forging success rate for items below divine-level by 40%.Feng Xiao could feel his tears welling up. "Uncle Bcksmith, you’re my savior…"
Two spirit-level gemstones, two immortal-level gemstones—each of these was priceless. Feng Xiao now truly believed that Zhang had completely given his all. For the sake of forging this cloak, he had emptied his entire stock.
... Half an hour ter...
The fmes in the forge burned even stronger, eventually enveloping the entire Golden Snow Wolf Pelt. Zhang, his face drenched in sweat, kept up his pace of hammering, his expression growing increasingly excited, as if he no longer cared about the burns from the fire on his arms.
Feng Xiao’s heart leapt—could it be done?
Amid the continuous hammering, the faint golden glow of the Snow Wolf Pelt suddenly burst into blinding white light. The intense light quickly filled the entire smithy, spilling through the cracks in the door and windows, drawing the attention of numerous pyers in the newbie vilge.
The dazzling white light sted for several seconds before gradually fading.
Had the forging succeeded? Feng Xiao nervously looked at Zhang, who was sitting on the ground, panting heavily. Once he caught his breath, Zhang weakly waved his hand, holding up a white-gold cloak with a huge grin on his face.
Feng Xiao eagerly took the cloak, and the moment it touched his hands, a light, ethereal energy radiated from it, making him feel as if he might float away.
