· 1st Person POV (MC)
-PresentTime-
With asprightly step, I went straight towards her whereabouts after cancelling all ofthe magical effects and sheathing my weapon...
Theeffect is still there and transferred seamlessly to the system’s map, making itconvenient.
In themeantime, hehehehe~
(“Whatshould I get? There are boss monster cores that give additional effects besidesgiving a big EP gauge to the enchanted weapon. Like... Oh! Ohhh!!! The boss’ [Maria,The Fallen].”)
(“Can Ienchant my weapon? I never asked that in Mochi’s forum or tried it. It would beinteresting if pyers could enchant weapons & armour dropped by monsters, dungeons,or Artifact grade...”)
Anyway,I’ll figure it out ter, that core is popur amongst Priest Pyers since itgives an innate increase in the power of healing {Spell}. I can sell it for ahigh price to help with guild funds.
(“Fufufufufu...”)
I’llprobably be making a weird grin while walking, so I'd better stop doing thatsince I’m getting closer to mystery granny.
“Oh!There she is...”
Theaforementioned old dy is currently perusing a market stall selling freshfruits and snacks. She seems to be contempting what to buy, as I racked mybrain to interact without making things awkward.
...
...
...
IKNOW!!!
“Oh!?Granny, what a coincidence we met again!”
Iexcimed happily with a big, wide grin before saying further...
“I wouldrecommend the gingerbread cookies, they taste amazing-“
!!!!???
Herusually closed eyes, hidden behind on thick rim gsses slightly open, revealing striking blue eyes staring at me. Her expression in a fraction of asecond becomes firm and cold.
Seeingthat, I paused for a second and internally thought.
(“Woahh...That’s...”)
Before Ican comment on her behaviour, she cuts me off-
“AH! Theyoungster from before, sorry this little ol’ granny couldn’t recognise you.”-Mystery Granny-
She returnsto her kind smile...
“Thegingerbread cookies? Goodness me~ Maybe I’ll get one...” -Mystery Granny-
She cheerfullydecided and told the stall owner to pack several cookies before facing me...
“You managedto find me so quickly! So granny would like to reward you... Before that, though, would you kindly help Granny carry all of these? I left the rewards inmy home, you see?” -Mystery Granny-
(“Yay!Reward. Sure.... Why not? Doesn’t hurt for an extra walk. The quest hasn’tmentioned it to be completed anyway.”)
Iinternally decided to do it and confirm by nodding towards her. Picking up herpurchases that are packaged into brown paper bags, I follow her along theFrontera’s streets.
Thankfully, upon finding her, the countdown timer on the quest has stopped... I managed toencounter her again in less than 10 minutes. Much quicker than other pyers!
(“Hehehe~”)
Feelinga little bit proud of myself, seeing that in my Quest Panel.
Whilebeing a baggage carrier for her, granny started to make small talks liketalking about the weather, her activities for the day, how her back is startingto ache sitting too long, her knitting & crocheting hobbies, even her worriesabout her husband who a little bit feverish after staying up too te in thenight.
...
...
...
(“Howlong is this walk! I’m starting to use my reserve ammo of ‘uh-huh’, ' oh mygosh’, ' whoa’. There’s so much I can repeat before it becomes super awkward.”)
Oh! Ican also ask something... Desperate to change the topic a bit, I asked her.
“Granny, how did you know I was casting magic back then?”
Sheseems taken aback for a bit before answering...
“Oh~it’s simple dearie, my gsses are enchanted, you see. I can see the flow ofmana just like an apprentice mage.” -Anna-
She tapsher index finger to the thick rim of her gsses, and I can see an occasionalbluish glint on its lenses.
(“Isee... That expins why.”)
“Thoughaside from that, I also have location obstruction magic enchanted. So it mademe wonder, dearie, how can you find me so easily?” -Granny-
Her tonelowered as her pace slowed, and the atmosphere went a little bit cold just likebefore.
To fightagainst it, I smiled and casually quipped...
“I havea few secrets of my own.”
*WINK*
Sprinklinga little bit of a wink in hopes of brushing it off...
(“Hopeit works!”)
Deepinside my heart, I wish for this cold atmosphere to go away.
...
...
...
“PFFTTT!Hahhahahaha, you’re a cheeky child.” -Granny-
She cackled, causing other NPCS in her surroundings to pay attention to her. Upon realisingthis, she quickly composed herself.
“*ehem* *ehem*we’re reaching my home, it’s this way.” -Granny-
Wearrived at a quaint little house, I can see her porch that its well ‘well-lived-in.Potted pnts are hanging at the edge of the small roof. Well-worn wooden benchbelow the front window to sit and watch.
*FLICK*
With aflick of a finger, a ring that she wore fshes a blue glint and soon after, thedoor to her house opens, welcoming us.
“Comein! Come in!” -Granny-
Ifollowed her along...
Uponentering her house, a scent of faint medicinal herbs wafts to my nose as shequickly quips.
“Justput the groceries on that counter over there-“ -Granny-
“Honeyyyy!!!Are you at home?? I’m so weak... my bones are so brittle.” -Grandpa-
Amasculine voice reverberated from the upper floor of this wooden home. My eyeswidened, and I worried a bit, but looking at Granny’s reaction, I think it’s a commonoccurrence.
Imean... the tone that this old man used to voice his woes is a bit exaggerated.
“Haaaaaaaa...Forgive my dramatic husband. YES, HONEY, I AM HOME NOW REST UP! Would you likesome tea?” -Granny-
Shemotions for me to enter and sit as I follow along after dropping her groceries ona countertop.
While doingthis, I watched her activate her cane by tapping two times on the wooden flooras the crystal tip of it glows in a blue hue.
Not longafter, all items in the grocery bag simply float and then she swirls her cane.
(“It issimir to the use of [Telekinesis]”)
Her canecontinues to glow blue. Like in cartoons, it is as if those items dance theirway into their respective pces.
(“Huhuhu...If only I could do that in real life. Putting undry or groceries away will beso easy.”)
Beforelong, Granny gave me a cup of tea...
“Sinceyou have been so helpful, here you go. Granny got a present for you.” -Granny-
As soonas she mentioned it, I heard the tell-tale notification sound of the system, and Quest Panel shows that this quest is completed.
In thatmoment, another panel appears and it lists several items that look like acrystal ball with different colours and silhouettes inside the orb.
Thispanel titled ‘Rewards’ is self-expnatory...
Nevertheless, though, I am quite surprised by the assortment of cores she has...
(“Ohgosh, it’s a lot!!!!”)
Fromnormal, elites / mini-bosses, even bosses. This peculiar granny seems tocollect every core!
(“And Iwill pick the bosses.”)
My eyeswander to the right corner of the panel, where it dispys ‘0/3’. Does thatmean I’m allowed to take 3 cores?
Don’tmind if I do!
Likeselecting pictures from files in my smartphone. I simply tap on which cores Iwant to receive.
First,is the core from [Maria, The Fallen]... Hmmmmmmm... On closer look at thedescription of that item, I get why it’s extremely popur for healers. Thatincrease in healing effectiveness scales with the wearer’s WIS {Status}, makingit useful in the te game.
(“MaybeI can give it to Booba?”)
That canhelp better reinforce guild members for GvG, after all, I can gather fundswhenever. Okay, I decided! On to the next one...
Second,I choose the core from [Yi Long] since it has the effect of increasing damageoutput based on consecutive attacks. Perfect for Siegfried's py style usingfists or Mr.Ryo...
Third! Itis for myself, coming from [The Thing in Bck], which provides Spell CooldownReduction (C.D.R) scaling with INT. A core that any caster css wants enchantedin their gear.
Afterpressing confirm, resulting in that panel disappearing, I can see anexcmation mark on my inventory. Indicating I receive a new thing, but Iignore it at the moment...
“Nowthen, dearie, a traveller like you must be so busy. Off you pop! Granny haschores to do.” -Granny-
(“Guessthat’s my cue to leave! If I stay too long, I might get a small bounty.”)
“See yater, granny~”
Before Ican leave, though, I hear footsteps coming from upstairs.
*THUD**THUD* *THUD*
“Honey, did you manage to find the herbs?” -Grandpa-
Appearingfrom the stairs, I can see a figure of an old man still capable of standing onhis own without the use of a cane, unlike Granny.
He had alook on his face between anticipation and excitement at the answer to hisquestion.
Until itwas promptly struck down...
“Haaaa...Dear, you’re asking for rare alchemical ingredients that are too far away!Frontera’s only have common ones.” -Granny-
She sighedexasperatedly as Grandpa over there came to the table and sat with a sullenlook, seeing the spread of herbs Granny had bought during her outing.
“Myexperiment will turn to cinders and my life’s work will be dust.” -Grandpa-
My gamersenses are tingling upon hearing their predicament. I can tell there’s a QuestTrigger. Can’t help but be curious, I decided to cut in on the conversation...
“Whatkind of herb are you looking for, Grandpa?”
As soonas I uttered those words, I could see Grandpa’s face light up like the brightsun.
“Yes...YES!! You’re a Traveller, which means you have journeyed far from Frontera. Tellyou what... If you get this ingredient for me, I’ll give you a commendation!”-Grandpa-
(“Commendation?What’s that?”)
“Haaaa...Dear commendations aren’t something to be given like candies, you know?”-Granny-
She massagesthe side of her temples gently before taking a deep breath.
“Although...it is quite helpful to use, especially for our issues at the moment.” -Granny-
“Right??With the royal families hounding in on us old folks...” -Grandpa-
Sherolled her eyes before continuing...
“Young-un,can you accept our request?” -Granny-
*PING*
-System-
[Quest: SearchFor Legendary Herb (Unique)]
Description:Please help this pair find the herb [Ambrose (Legendary)]
Reward: Frontera’sCommendation
Accept:Yes / No
-System-
(“AUnique Quest?”)
Hmmm...Mystery Granny quest line ends with her giving pyers chosen monster cores, sohow do I manage to get this?
!!!???
(“Couldit be? It’s a continuation that only happens when pyers manage to find Grannyfast?”)
Feelingthat hunch was correct, I decided to keep it a secret...
Bytapping yes, the quest pop-up panel disappear, and in my quest tab, the titleof this request shines, indicating it's been marked as active.
“Thankyou, dearie, any questions for the herb Ambrose?” -Granny-
“Well...I do want to know where it is located and what they look like. If you don’tmind expining.”
Grandpa’sbrown eyes sharpened as his lips curved into an upward smile, clearly excitedto illuminate me.
“You’vecome to the right person! I’ll happily expin.” -Grandpa-
