August Circus

  A twister came

  And took up the circus,

  Amid August's clouds

And threw it in my town.

I said "How great this is"

  Roasted peanuts in August

With caramel onion on hot dogs.

  But now my town's gone

  With only the circus left.

  Tents now replace blocks,

And candy canes bloom down the lanes.

  Leotards rule the fashion world

While seals play the kazoo in the park

The midgets are winding up the cars

Driven by clowns the monkeys have spanked.

When bored, they get out at the first stop,

  Giving out instead of fines

  Cakes with dynamite candles.

It's august, its chaos on the street

And the circus' three rings are full

For laughter's sake, let them drink

And puke until the rust-covered leaves

  Seal them in a tomb.
