Chapter 6 - A Monkey

I have been on this path forever. It's sooooooo boring! I mean sure grass is cool, but so are trees, bushes, rocks, and animals, and just NOT GRASS. I HAVE HAD PLENTY OF GRASS NOW THANK YOU.

  UGGGGHHHHHH!

  ...........

Oh well. It's not like I'm losing anything by being here. Guess I just gotta keep going till I see something.

Doodeedum, dadaylamabompabom, dindadadindadadoo, woopadeeloopeedoo. Dumdoodoodlydum, weebeedeeblenum.

Hm. I wonder if there are any birds above me, maybe I could say hi if there are, that might be fun.

I look up to check, but no birds, just more clouds. Ooooh, that one looks kinda like a bird though. Well, that's cool.

I look back at the scenery around me, expecting to find nothing but grass once more. Instead, I see the most wonderful thing I have ever laid eyes on. NOT GRASS. Of course, it's nothing more than a blot of color on the horizon at the moment. But still. IT'S NOT GRASS!

Now that I know I haven't accidentally traveled into some sort of crazy grass world, I'm in a lot less of a hurry to find something, so instead of speeding towards the whatever-it-is, I decide I'll just slowly make my way there. I mean, now that I know I can just find other things, there's no point in rushing it.

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

Still, it doesn't take me long to get there, and now that I'm closer, the building has gone from a blob to more of a square shape, with some sort of small rectangular panel embedded on one of its sides. It also seems to be made out of trees, and yet somehow, it is not a tree itself. Odd.

Eh, whatever, it's not my tree box. Still, why is it here, in the middle of a grassy plain? Who would put a big block of wood in the middle of nowhere? Unless maybe it's hollow inside? Then they could put stuff in it, and it would stay protected from other stuff! I spin around it till I spot a clear pane of- something. But more importantly, is that this pane gives me a good view inside of the box. That's right, inside. It is in fact hollow and is filled with things that were once living like me. These ones seem like they broke somehow though, because they aren't moving, and something tells me those blank stares aren't seeing anything.

But why would someone collect broken living things? What could they possibly use them for? Actually, how did the broken things even get in there, I don't see any openings.

  "RUSTLE"

  Whawuzzat!?

I spin quickly, still startled, but what I see in front of me startles me even more.

  It's a monkey.

Accurate, exaggerated, too dark, too positive, something else?

I just wrote it based on how I assume an innocent breeze-baby would see violence, death, blood, and all that.

So my plan here is for Gust to make a friend of one of the humans they will soon meet. The friend would be a kid, and Gust would end up staying with her (I plan for the kid to be female) for most of, if not all, of the rest of the story. The idea is that she will sort of fill what would be the role of the standard MC, in that she will deal human problems, conflicts, losses, gains, etc. Gust will still be the focus of the story, but she will sort of become their way of experiencing and learning to understand people, albeit only through what she tells them about. Plus Gust needs a bestie, because everyone needs a bestie. If that doesn't make sense, I apologize, but I don't really know how else to explain it. Anyway, the point of this poll is to ask if that sounds good to you, and if not, why?
