/Showdown/ #03 The Magick of The New Continent

  "So... breakfast, anyone?"

Food is always on my purple-haired best friend's mind. Somehow, for all the calories she takes in she still maintains a daemon's figure, everything going to all the right pces except her head. I don't care what you say, Madi-san, drinking milk every day does NOT give you that kind of figure.

Puffing out a breath of air while stealing MY pose; pointing both hands upwards in the air, boob-for-brains sighs outwardly, "This Aya-chan, you can't get fit if you don't exercise!"

"Oho? Aya-chan doesn't exercise?" Val-sama looks at my with a curiously sad look; n-not you too! Don't listen to that Madisnder! I DO exercise! I just don't do all the leaping from the top of building to building that Madi-san does! I can run down the length of New Coimbra's main street without being completely out of breath now!

"Say it in red." Madi-san points at me arrogantly, as if I were lying!

  Arghhh! I don't have to!

"See, detective defective is lying to her dai-daisenpai through her pale, thin thighs!"

I should expin this one for (You) and Val-sama who is new to our retionship.

Vespana is a magickal and wonderous pce,

humans with magickal abilities are able to mennifest,

to pull from beyond what doesn't exist in this world.

My mennifest allows me to perceive the 'type' of statements said to me!

Whatever is said in red is the truth.

There are no takebacks for this statement!

There are no additional expnations needed!

For example, my name is Ayano Sane, is a true and verifiable statement that needs no expnation! It cuts down on a lot of useless arguing about whodunnits and whydunnits! When it comes to the facts, the red is always reliable! Think of it as the detective's promise that this visual novel was properly pnned out and we're not winging it like Kxbo!

What does all this have to do with conspiracies, you ask?

Back when I first arrived on Bylon Isnd, I spent a long time trying to convince Madi-san that conspiracies did not exist with the red,

I've mostly given up by now of course.

For reasons you will quickly see ter.

There are a lot of nuances to using this magick ability,

but I'll get to them when they arise.

Right now, this empty-headed idiot wants to turn MY own magick against me!

  Don't you dare!

I'm not the dumb little Ayano from back on Bylon Isnd anymore!

"Fine, I'll repeat it." Inhaling a breath of air, I give Madi-san what she deserves! The moment I speak those words, a fsh of bright blue light lights up the area momentarily, the floating words are carved into the air behind me as I speak them,

"I DO exercise! I can now run down the street without losing my breath!"

As the words are carved into the air with finality, they move across the air from behind me like a sliding caption you see on old video sharing sites, before fading left into the nothingness.

"There, happy now?" I grit my teeth, because knowing Madi-san being Madi-san, the salty runback was coming!

"Hmm hmm! But you didn't deny you don't exercise... If you were running out of breath before, that means >you were weak to begin with! Besides, whenever I try to get you to go exercising with me, you always refuse! tl;dr Aya-chan doesn't exercise because she's a weak ndlubber in the first pce!"

As Madi-san speaks those words, the air around us is momentarily tinted dark blue, disappearing with a fsh. In a simir fashion to the red, the half-truths she spoke shone with a blue outer glow, true, yet untrue at the same time!

Arghh...! This purple-haired biichii! She's not giving up on using my mennifest against me again! There are a million ways I could refute her blue, but it was so malevolently constructed that the more I argue this, the more ridiculous I sound...!

The blue is also a type of 'daemonic truth' that I can perceive.

Unlike the red, the blue is constructed with reasoning.

  It doesn't represent absolute truth,

but it presents a reasoning that can be an alternative to the red!

Sometimes, this is more powerful than a weak red with many holes in it!

Staggering backwards from being hit with that arrow through my heart, I bump into Val-sama who was standing behind me.

Valerie cps the back of my shoulders with closed eyes, as if pitying me and silently saying "Ohohoho, it's never too te to start!" No, Valerie! This is a misunderstanding! You mustn't believe this cackling cacodaemon!

As a parting blow, Madi-san points at me with a single finger while twisting her hips,

"Never 4get, Madison is ALWAYS RIGHT!"

It took a while before Valerie was done consoling (me),

who had colpsed to my knees on the ground.

Fighting a game of logic with Madi-san is endlessly exhausting.

She always cheats and twists my words so the world conforms to her twisted vision!

  You understand, don't you, Valerie?!

"Madison's a hothead at times, but you shouldn't lie either, Ayaya~"

"Hey!! What hothead?! Everyone goes through their 'lol winrar >9000s' phase!"

  ...

  ...

"How about this? Since you two showed me an interesting magick, I'll show you something I learned recently..."

... You can use magick too, Valerie?

Valerie csps both hands together and lifts up something heavy and metallic off the ground. It was blocked by the back of Valerie's skirt all this time, but now that she has lifted it up, I can clearly see...

... the helmmask of the [Lord Protector of Coimbra]. Shaped like a crowned white metal skull with edged gsses that pierce the sides of heaven, now that I am up close with this cursed prop, I want to say that it still looks creepy as hell!

What is the helmmask of [Trono Palido's] mascot doing here?

"Valerie... san? Why do you have that?"

"Hey! Have some respect to your dai-daisenpai, that's Val-sama to you, Aya-chan!" Don't sp the small of my back suddenly like that, Madi-san! I'm asking a serious detective question here!

"Among my senpai [1] in [Trono Palido], I am the only one with decent enchantment skills, so its my job to fix stuff up~"

Valerie draws a line around the underside of the helm-mask with her finger, which lights up in a light blue hue; releasing the her underhanded hold on the helm, the grinning mask floats gently like a decapitated head onto a pile of white cloth lying on the ground.

Then, she grasps the air in front of her, and like unsheathing a shimmering scabbard in mid-air, she pulls her fists apart to reveal a long, thin-bded sword covered in luminescent white!

  This is... magick.

Vespana is a magickal and wonderous pce,

so pulling a sword out of thin air shouldn't be surprising,

  and yet,

I still feel my eyes affixed to the drawing of Val-sama's bde,

she runs both her fingers upwards on the top of her presented bde,

which condenses the glow on the bde to just the bde's body itself, the condensed and compressed light glowing bright even in this daytime lighting!

Swiveling around, she points her mennifested bde downwards her target,

Let what is broken be fixed again,

Let what cannot be repaired be whole again,

  This is not the end,

  I won't let it be,

Return to my side at the edge of our broken dreams,

  [Return Enchantment]!

The inanimate pile of white is lit up with the same glow reflected in Val-sama's bde, and like a boneless skeleton rising from the dead, the pile of white cloth rises and forms a bodyless triangur shape resembling a human with rge angur shoulders, the helm attaching itself to the top like one of those mechazxrds in old sentai [2] shows, whatever artificial eyes behind those orange-rimmed gsses fsh once more, returning life to whatever this is...!

"Test test," Val-sama cps the shoulder of the now risen white-robed and skeletal-masked figure, "We're tourists visiting [New Coimbra], what do you say?"

"Welcome to New Coimbra!", the metallic, yet awfully familiar voice rings out from within the helm, moving about like a mascot with a person underneath the white cloak.

  Val-sama...

Just made a bunch of cospy props move on their own!

I have heard of [Enchantment Magick] from elsewhere before...

... but to think that it is able to give life to inanimate objects!

"Technically, I'm not giving life to anything. That's the Sunset family's domain." Val-sama winks at me with a finger raised, her blue eyes sparking with pride at the recreated tour guide for cheap, "All things on the New Continent have the breath of menne in them, I am using the barest of [Enchantment Magick] to give that menne a little push with my will~"

As if to demonstrate, Val-sama spins around on one foot in a familiar dance move,

... and the newly enchanted mascot spins around on the spot as well!

  ... in-incredible!

Go Go And Learn Moonrunes With Aya-chan![1] Senpai - 先輩, means someone senior to you. Val-sama in this case means Oracion and Annalie, who are her fellow apprentices under [Trono Palido's] Master Avalon.

[2] Sentai - 戦隊, means 'team'. Refers to a kind of show that used to show in the Old Continent pyed by live actors a team who fights off evil monsters! Usually involves lots of special effects. Ever heard of Rxdman? That's a sentai! Not to be confused with senpai or hentai.
