Ch 29 - Getting A Backer

  -Liz’s POV-

“These people here are not from this world but do not panic, they are not our enemy. They are here to help us and also to make you people understand the situation.” I said and looked at the now, on guard people. Everyone had gone stiff, no one was as relaxed as before. Oltion took that as his cue to speak and everyone went quiet after he coughed in the mic that was in his hand.

“My name is Oltion and I am one of the five remaining leaders of the now Dead Realm or a Dungeon as you call it and I know that whatever I say will just seem like made up stuff but, it’s not. There is a rule in the system for every realm or planet and that is ‘If a place is destroyed beyond repair and has no purpose at all, it will be converted to a dungeon and will start opening paths to the new world’, now I don’t know about your planet but our realm was considered a Dead Realm because of the invasions like the one you saw just today. Those beings that you saw, there are more like them throughout the universe, ready to exploit any realm or planet as long as there are resources on it. Our realm was declared as Dead and that is when the paths to new places were opened to us, those paths are the dungeons. That is also how Lizandra here, found us and saved our people from facing extinction at the hands of the invaders.” He said and looked at the people, who had baffled faces. None of them wanted to believe what Oltion had just said.

“Now I know that this is a lot to take in but if you have any questions regarding this, we are here to answer you all.” Oltion said as the other four leaders beside him nodded their heads. Each one had a mic in their hands, ready to answer the audience. The people started discussing among themselves even though a lot of them didn’t know each other, this proved that at least some of them had taken this seriously.

“Why should we trust you at all?” One of the Mayor’s asked. Everyone went silent as the first question was asked. It was the most talked about question that I heard from the people discussing among themselves.

“I am not here to gain your trust and spout bullshit. You saw me and my husband, Reinard, fight with those beings. Each and everyone of them had the power to take over the world by themselves, even that army you saw would’ve wiped you out the moment they landed here. What we are stating is the hard truth and you have to accept it. If you don’t want to, then don’t blame us that we didn’t warn you about the shit that will go down 2 years from now.” I said bluntly. There was no use in sugar-coating my words and letting them think that I was trying to hide something.

“What do you mean by, 2 years from now?” One of the Journalists asked.

“It is the estimated time for the world to update which will then be able to host powerful beings and the invasions that you saw today, would become frequent.” Oltion said, shocking everyone present in the hall and those people who were watching this live, with his answer.

“What do you mean to say? World Update? What kind of joke is that?” The same Mayor who had raised the trust issue asked once again but Oltion handled the situation and answered him.

“The system that you know currently is in the process of initialization. Once certain conditions are met, the World will Update, meaning the current system will update and a lot of changes could be seen around the world. The system would then be completely initialized and your planet would go into the Universal level battlefield. The level system that you know would also be changed after this event. “

The things that Oltion said ensued a lot of chaos in the hall, a lot of questions were thrown at us and the answers for that were given. Making it a hectic job to answer every question. I knew that this was going to be a long conference and the questions that these people were going to ask were even more time consuming. Having to explain everything from the beginning and omitting a few parts of the answers was the worst of it. People had no knowledge of these things at all. The five leaders were really helpful in this situation though, they handled everything perfectly and left no loopholes on the parts that were omitted, like the battle between me and the invaders on their planet and the deal we made and a few other information. These things were sensitive topics and openly telling them was not ideal at all.

  -Two Hours Later-

Me, Reinard, Vorgrim and Luna had just arrived at a restaurant, where an important meeting was going to take place. Jim had gone to his Guild for some reason and was not with us here. We entered the restaurant and were led by the manager to a private room.

We were standing outside the room, waiting for the important person inside the room to let us in. “Fuck ! That was a lot more than I thought.” Luna said as she let out a long sigh. It was not just Luna, everyone was tired, including Reinard and Vorgrim who hadn't spoken a word during the conference. “It was. They had no knowledge of what we had explained at all and there are sure to be skeptical people that would not believe us and would even go against us.” I said, that led Luna to let out another sigh. We had even asked the people for their cooperation in helping them become stronger but without proof of how they would become stronger, people would not accept our proposal at all. That is one of the reasons for being in this restaurant.

“Let’s go and meet Mr. President, shall we?” I said as one of the bodyguards gave us a nod to enter the room.

Entering the room, we saw a table in the middle of it and on the other side of the table was Mr. President, the room was filled with five bodyguards. Two standing near the door, two of them standing by the President and one was hiding in the shadows. I sensed him when we were standing outside the room. The four of us took a seat in front of the President, without waiting for him to let us sit. I saw all of the bodyguards, ready to pounce at us for the disrespect but the President gave them a look to not attack us.

“Welcome Dear Guests ! My name is Cristopher and as you know I am the President of The United States or what’s left of it, at least. “ He said and ordered the bodyguard standing beside him to bring food. It was already dinner time when we got out of that Conference Hall. Christopher looked to be in his mid thirties with blonde hair, a beard on his average looking face. Although he had a strong looking body, his levels were in the lower A Rank. Overall, an average man but with enough influence to help us.

“We know, Mr.President. I am Lizandra, this right here is my Husband, Reinard. This one here is my butler, Vorgrim and you already know Luna. The famous Guild Master of The Cuties Guild.” I said while pointing at Reinard, Vorgrim and Luna to introduce them.

“It’s good to meet you Ms. Lizandra. How about we have dinner first before we get to the serious talk? I don’t want to spoil your mood before dinner.” He said, as the people of this restaurant put the food on our table. It looked delicious.

  -Half an Hour Later-

None of us talked after the dinner arrived, we ate in silence for half an hour and now it was time for the talk.

“Well, Mr Cristopher. You must have already watched the Conference right?” I asked. There was no point in calling him Mr. President or any other formal name because he knew that we were stronger than him and respect was earned not bought with all the money he had.

“Yes, I did and what you said has created a lot more questions than the ones you answered. Even I have a lot of questions for this matter.” Christopher said, with a serious and concerned face “Do you want to take over the world?” Christopher asked.

“That would have been an ideal plan. To take over the world and control everything but sadly, no. I don’t want to take over the world, I don’t have that much spare time to take over and micromanage everything. Although what I want is cooperation from the people.” I said and it was the truth. I still had a lot of things I wanted to do and protecting the people of Earth was one of them. Their cooperation and Reinard’s training would make perfect soldiers to fight the invaders and would be helpful in defending places until the reinforcements arrived.

“How do you plan to do that? You do know that without a strong enough backer, the population would not listen to you and Luna here is not influential enough even though she is one of the Top 10 Guild Masters. You need people from the government that would provide support for whatever plans you have.” Christopher said.

“I know. Which is the reason why I am here, to meet you and have you as my backer.” I said while giving him a sweet smile. I could see his face cringing at my expression as he tried to hide it. Even though he was the President of the US, he had certain responsibilities and I was going to take advantage of it.

“Fine, first tell me your plan. Only then will I decide whether it is worth it to back you or not.” Christopher said.

“For sure, Mr. Christopher.” I said and took a pause to look at the direction where I could sense another one of those Dead Realms connecting to this world. It was easy to detect them through my mana sense, as they had certain mana signature levels that differentiate them from normal dungeons. I gave Vorgrim a look and he nodded towards me, the next instant he teleported. Shocking the people inside the room and alerting them. “No need to be on guard. He’s gone due to a personal reason.” I said and the President nodded towards his guards.

“The plan is very simple, Mr. President. I want the cooperation of every single person on the planet or let’s first start with the US, alright?” I asked and he gestured for me to continue. “So, by cooperation I mean that I want each and every one of the people to learn from my husband, Reinard, who is an expert in teaching a lot of things. He will help the people to become strong enough to face that army you saw today. This way we’ll have a chance to at least resist an invasion until me or one of my people arrive to take care of the situation.” I said and looked at the President who looked like he was thinking about this plan. It wasn’t the whole plan, it was at least a part of it. There were a lot of things that needed to be done in this time span of 2 years and it was not Reinard who would be teaching them everything personally. It would be his clones that would work their asses off to make everyone strong just like his Bloody Retribution Guild members. After thinking for a while, Christopher finally answered. It might seem like Cristopher was eager to become our backer but, no. It was because of the people behind him that had sensed the truth behind our words that led us to have this conversation in the first place.

“Fine. I’ll be your backer but will this really work? Aren’t those beings you fought a lot higher in level than any of us?” Christopher asked because he was confused at how we could defeat beings higher level than us.

“It will work or else we risk losing the World to an Invasion. About those…. beings, it’s better if no one knows how we defeated them.” I said while giving Cristopher a solid no as an answer for how we defeated Ayer, his generals and the army.

“Fine. I guess that’s it for this topic. How about you tell me about those people from the Dead Realm that you brought to the Conference?” Christopher asked and the conversation from then on took a while. I started explaining how I discovered the Dead Realm, the people and eventually helping them and bringing them here. I did omit a few parts though, that would’ve raised suspicion and a series of questions that I was not willing to answer.

  -An Hour Later-

“Now that everything is talked about. We should take our leaves, I don’t want to hold you back from your Presidential activities. Do make sure that there is an announcement about you backing me and how this would help the people.” I said as I got up from the chair with Reinard and Luna following me, both of them hadn’t spoken a word during the conversation, they were only here to support me and to know the conclusion of the meeting.

“Sure, Ms.Lizandra. It was a pleasure to have this chat with you. The things that you told and the further plan that you explained would be beneficial for everyone.” Christopher said as he extended his hand for a handshake.

I shook his hands and a minute later the three of us were on our way home. As we left the room and got out of the restaurant, I gave Luna a nod and bade her goodnight before teleporting to the Penthouse with Reinard. It was a long day and I wanted nothing more than to sleep. So the first thing I did after teleporting to penthouse was change my clothes into a nightdress and crashed head first into the bed. Leaving Reinard who was looking at me amusingly to follow and crash alongside me.
