"What do we do now?" Zack asked Max.

  He looked up at Azazel, who cried in agony as he changed into the dark timberwolf to free himself. Once he was on the ground again, he changed back and dusted himself off. He looked at Max and growled.

  "The battle's over, Azazel!" Max declared.

  Azazel laughed and twitched. "For now, at least. I'll see you in a hundred years or so! I'm already starting to get bored of this."

  Max tilted his head at him. "What?"

  Azazel laughed at them. "Enjoy your immortalhood while it lasts!" Those were his final words, before heading back to the castle, that stretched miles away from them now.

  Max looked at Rose with confusion. "What did he just say? We're immortal? How?"

  Zack shook his head in disbelief.

  Rose had the shocking answer for them. "When Valerian first gave him the stone, he was allowed any wish granted, that's how he got those powers, that's how you guys changed back into wolves."

  Max looked back at her. "Did he wish this immortality thing too?"

  Rose shook her head. "Valerian offered him some of her immortality. Since he's already bound to us, Valerian's immortality passed down to all of us."

  Max tilted his head. "How do you know?"

  Rose sighed. "When me and Ebony were chaining her up, she came to and explained to us what happened."

  Mica scoffed. "Wait, now you guys are immortal? Fucking freaks!"

  Ebony clasped her hands together. "Mica....do you remember Evelynne?"

  "Always...why?"

  Ebony sighed. "I hate to tell you this, but I think you should know. I saw in my mind that after that day I was destined to die, she ran off into the woods in search of purpose. She stumbled upon Scarlett, Valerian's sister, who took her in under her wing."

  Max interrupted. "Whoa, what? She's her SISTER?"

  Rose looked at Ebony in shock.

  Ebony nodded as she continued. "Evelynne wanted to be immortal, powerful, strong...so she made a deal with Scarlett to change her into a wolf and work under her. She was granted the ability to change back into a human at will. Overtime, she was slowly losing memories of you, soon she became clueless as to who you were to her. She always loved you, Mica. She would never have wanted to forget you."

  Mica was tearing up as he looked deep into Ebony's eyes. "Who....was she?"

  Max already knew the answer. "Beta..."

  Ebony nodded. Mica lowered his head and sobbed. "I should've known!"

  "Scarlett tore you guys apart...." Ebony said to him. Rose continued to look at her in shock. "SHE was the one who assassinated the queen?"

  Zack lowered his head. "Damn."
