  MEMORANDUM FOR all soldiers presently stationed at Fort Bragg.

  SUBJECT: The Total Collapse of All Long-Distance Communication

  Minutes ago, everyone in Fort Bragg became unable to access the Internet or communicate via phone. This implies not only a failure of all data infrastructure required to keep the Internet running (the databases in San Francisco or Washington, D.C., for example) but also a failure of our satellites in orbit. Our enemy, allegedly called "the Conquering Horde," holds land, sea, air, and even orbital superiority over us.

  We have lost communication with the rest of the armed forces. There is no need to fear, however, for we are the United States Army, the greatest fighting force on the planet. Even if we have to do it without support from the rest of the world, we will defeat this new enemy. We are surrounded, men, but that just means we have gained the benefits of a target-rich environment.

  Remember your training, follow the orders of your commanding officers, and unleash the wrath of the United States Army upon this new enemy.
