Chapter 3

Kal eel four nunya. Free kept hearing this. She realized that she was in a different state. As she woke up from her slumber, she was surrounded by many pine trees. The green color that she saw looked like blades of grass. Upon closer look, the blades were pine trees. The pine trees together looked like a forest. She was in one nest on one tree in the middle of a forest in the mountains. The air became cooler. It went from hot, to warm, to cool, to cold. She was shivering from the cold air, and she didn’t have anything to keep her shell protected from the elements.

The nest felt warm despite the cold air. All around her became cold, surrounded by gray clouds and thick air. It became gusty like the winter. It went from sunny summer to overcast winter. How could the weather change so quickly? She didn’t know. But things could change just like that in the state she was in. She really liked the look of it. A forest of pine trees, cold air, overcast sky in a warm cozy nest. She didn’t want to leave the comfort and security of her nest, but she knew she couldn’t stay there forever. She was on a mission to find her parents.

How would she get out of the cold without any protection from the weather? She didn’t know. She remembered that she was flying, so she had the ability to fly. If she could land into a nest, she could land into a home. But where was home? She knew she had to be protected from the elements. Since she didn’t have anything on her, she realized that she would need to be inside of something warm and cozy. Not a nest since it was too open, but something closed. An egg? No. A tree? No. A bird? No. She spotted a cabin from far away. It was something that was outside of her like a jacket, but she could be inside of it like a nest.

She flew to the cabin despite the cold wind until she made it to the door. Snow fell from the sky like frozen rain until it became heavier. She could barely see the shape of the log cabin since it became covered in frozen rain. It looked white like the pine trees. It went from sunny and green to overcast and white. Hot to cold. She didn’t have any arms since she had wings, so she pushed the door until it opened. Inside it looked empty and abandoned like the nest. However, it was warm, protected from the elements, and cozy inside.
