Chapter 9 – Alone in the Abyss
Four hours earlier.
Many people gathered after their victory in the battle against the shadows at the center of the Town. Sorrowing their fallen comrades and celebrating their victory.
“Did you see how I killed those Bastards?”
“Yeah, you were truly brutal, but did you see how many I killed? The Bodies of the Hounds were piled up beside me.”
The captain stepped forward, creating a menacing aura around her as she said,
“You have all worked hard!
Having protected the Town of Lumenvall with your lives is something you should take pride in!
Without you we would have lost this fight, only through you were we able to take the victory for us!”
Where is that young boy that fought in the arena?
Everybody else is here of the most outstanding youngsters, Lightning spear and Aura
Didn′t he attend the party?
He fought amazingly for someone so young and inexperienced.
Maybe I should start searching for him, maybe something happened to him?
“CAPTAIN!!!”
“We have an urgency!”
“What is it soldier?”
“Another wave of shadow monsters was spotted on their way here.”
We just hardly got through this battle…
“What are their numbers?”

“There numbers are….
More than 10 000….”

“And they will arrive in half an hour…”

We can′t deal with that many…
And reinforcement won′t arrive in time from the capital of Valandor…
The only choice for is to evacuate right now…
“Evacuate the town right now, don′t take anything with you only bring yourself to safety, it doesn′t matter if you bring you things along when you end up dead because of them!”
The people of Lumenvall started to evacuate, Lumenvall was a smaller town, with less than 10 000 people living in it.
Some people refused to leave; they said that they are not going to run away and protect their homeland to the end.
They will buy us time to escape.
“Captain the shadows are about to enter the town from the east!”
Already?
“Continue evacuating towards north!”
“Yes!”
“We don′t have enough time to rescue everyone in time, someone needs to buy us time to get to safety.”

Slow, deliberate footsteps echoed, each one radiating a powerful aura that instilled fear deep within those who heard them

“You should protect the people evacuating!”

As I turned around a dwarf stood before me.
The dwarfs were known for their blacksmithing skills, how is he going to stop them?
“But...”
“I waited for over 100 years for this one moment.”
“Don′t steal it from me.”
“May I know your name brave warrior?”
“My Name?”
“It′s a long forgotten one, Thorin Grimbeard”
Thorin Grimbeard? Isn′t that the rumored worst blacksmith and got even denied entering the Arena due to his bad reputations?

“It seems those rumors about you were wrong.
I will leave this in your care.”
As everyone evacuated, Thorin stood on the middle of the road, a massive Axe in his hands, made of the finest materials.
His Axe thrusted into the ground upwards down, his hands on the hilt of the axe, waiting for his fate.
The shadows came closer and closer as the burning houses followed them after.
Two figures standing in front of the shadow beast, coming closer after each step.

“Captain 30% has already evacuated!”
Only 30%?
We won′t make it in Time…
“Captain they are attacking from the sides to!”
“What? At this rate we are going to get cornered…”
A person rushed forward from behind.
“I am going to take the Shadows on the right side, someone clear the left side!”
And she disappeared in shadows.
That was that girl, Aura. She seems kind of familiar, she is young but has power to best many powerful people, ….
She is probably even stronger than me…

“Lightning spear continue guiding the people here!”

“My child, I can′t find her. She was just with me seconds ago but then I suddenly lost her amongst the people evacuating.”
“Don′t worry I will save her, that I swear on my Knights name Henrick!”
“Thank you…”, she cried out her lungs.
Back to the present.
I slammed open the door.
My eyes meet a very disturbing view, the town in flames, buildings crumbling to the ground.
“What happened here`?”
“Am I dreaming right now? No, this is realty…”
All of this happened while I was asleep.
How many people got killed, while I slept peacefully?
I rushed out of the door; I was overwhelmed with all kinds of different emotions.
“I need to find someone!”
“Please be alive…. Don′t you dare to leave me behind like this!”
Tears falling down my cheeks, my eyes floating in tears.
“I don′t want to lose this too.”

“Everyone was so nice to me!”
“We smiled and laughed together...”
“When I first got here, I was greeted with a warm welcome, a town full of people′s smiling and laughing together.”
“And the Guard, Henrick that was concerned for me, even if that was our first meeting.”
“The Receptionist form the guild, she smiled at me brightly as if I belonged to them, not leaving me behind.”
“The old man, we were together for 2-hole months, that is the longest I have ever kept a contact to another person, we laughed and cried together.”
“And Aura, she was concerned for me and asked if I was alright…”
“This all was an amazing feeling; this all were first for me…”
“I finally felt that I belonged somewhere for the first time.”
“So, please don′t take this from me to…!” I cried out loud!
I kept on running down the street, hoping to see someone.
My legs hurt as hell, but I kept on running.
“-un away!”
I heard someone shout in the far…
“Dark Qi”
My body strengthened, emitting purple light from itself and I ran at full speed towards the cries for help.
As I turned the corner, I saw a young girl crying in fear and a man protecting her from a Shadow Beast.
“It′s Henrick!”
“Hey, I′m here to help!”
He slowly turned around, with a smile.
“Thanks… I can rest now….”
As he turned around, I noticed it.
His Left side of his body had been bitten of his left shoulder and arm were missing, a piece of his stomach was ripped out to.
“I leave this to you…. cough, that is the favor I ask of you friend…”
His Body fell to the ground…

“What…. this can′t happen right now…why…”
“My Brain began to tremble, confusion and fear”

My Knees gave out on me.

It began to change colors, the bloody veins in my eyes began turning black my pupils slowly losing their colors.

The Shadows coming closer with each step.
The girl cried out loud in fear for help.
My once fuggy brain began to clear.

“That′s right he entrusted to me that I continue, that which he couldn′t complete.”
“I need to be strong right now,” I wiped my tears away and pretended to be just fine.
Three Shadows were closing in on us.
Abyssal Nexus – Sword manifestation
Sigh…
I need to calm my nerves….
“They are only three, if I use my Dark Qi and The Nexus Sword, I will end them in one swing!”
I started focusing the dark qi in my legs and hips to strengthen them.
“Huuuhhh….”
Crumbling houses in fire around us, the little girl standing behind me, three shadows rushing towards me.
As the Beast got in front of me, I swung my sword horizontally against them, cutting everything in its way into to.
Dead bodies fell down behind me.
I returned the nexus sword into the Abyss.
I kneeled down in front of the little girl and said in a gentle voice, come on let′s go find your family…
I took her hand and walked with her towards the north gate hoping they would be there.

WHY COULDN′T YOU JUST KEEP YOUR DAMN EYES ON YOUR KID, NOW BECAUSE OF YOU HE DIED!!!
“No problem I only did what was right,” I answered while I smiled at her.
“How can I repay you for this?”
YOU SHOULD JUST DIE ALONG WITH YOUR FAMILY!!
“There is nothing to repay me for!”
“Thank you, but where is the guard that went to look for her first?”

Abyssal Nexu-..
“Hey here you are, what are you doing?”
“Oh nothing, I just helped this women find her daughter, mister lightning spear.”
“You don′t need to call me that, just call me Julius and I will call you Shin, is that fine?”
“Of course, Julius.”
“By the way did you see an old dwarf somewhere among these people?”
“No, there isn′t a single one here!”

But if he really is trying to fight them, then I need to help him!
I heard big shockwaves from afar, and the wind blew towards me fiercely.
There is a fight up ahead.
And the people fighting are way stronger than me.
Is that him?
Was he always this strong?
Or is it something else?
As the noises kept on getting louder and louder, the are became more and more flat, the houses were all burnt up to ashes the hole land covered in coal.
Black fug covered this land, and as I got deeper and deeper, the fuggier it became.
I saw three figures behind the fug in the far.
I sneakily approached them.
“he-…”
“What are they talking about, I can′t hear them? I need to get closer!”
“Ahhhhh!”
“Hahahah this is so funny continue torturing him until he pleads us to kill him”
“I don′t think that will ever happen, he seems to have a very deep grudge against me.”
A grudge?

It can′t be him…
“Haaahhhhh what are you going to do now old dwarf, kill us with your miserable skills?”
“Hahahahahaha of course not, because you can′t!”
I was able to recognize the people through the fug now.
It was the shadow person from before, Omen and a person with a white mask, a wide eye and mouth.
He looks like a clown…
And a person tied up with something made out of shadows, hands of shadows coming out of the ground tying up a dwarf.

“Why are you here, Thorin?”

“And I can′t feel the Shadow energy now of that man, Omen.
Is this fug some kind of barrier?”
“Huhuh, it seems the wait finally paid off!”
“Yes, he arrived!”
…
They noticed me.
I slowly walked forward, revealing myself.
Thorin uttered in a pained voice.
“Why are you here Shin?”
“I should be asking you that!”
…
“How were you able to detect me?”
“I know the moment you were here, when you entered the fug, I can perceive everything within and recreate reality.”

“It seems like you haven′t awakened it yet…
I guess I will help you out dear brother.”
“Brother, -?”
Air…
I am not able to breath….
Why...
Cough, blood spilling from my mouth, as I kneeled down.
“You can′t even withstand that?”
“I didn′t even punch yet, but you already got hurt from the pressure of that strike?”
“Truly pathetic.”
“You are not worthy of his powers; you are just a useless pest.”
“Haaahh, why did he choice such a pathetic host?”
I kneeled on my knees grasping for air, it felt like he punched me in the stomach, but I didn′t see him punch.
“Hahahah, Omen I got a great Idea!”
“Why don′t we just torcher his friend maybe he will awaken it?”

“I like the Idea.”
I looked at the clowns face, his mask covered his face but I was able to see his pleasure he was taking in torching us.
Hands created from the shadows bind my body.
I′m not able to move even an inch.
“Thorin…”
“Why did you come here?”
“He is the person responsible for my family….”
“What…?”

“You should have known that he is strong why didn′t you ask for someone′s help?”
“And who would help me?”
“There are plenty of-..”
I stopped my sentence the moment I noticed his face painted covered in black.
“What happened?”

“They are gone….”
“Huh??”
“Tears streamed down his face,” as he cried out loud.
“I′M ALL ALONE NOW, THEY ARE GONE!!!
HE KILLED THEM!!!”
“…”
“HE WAS THE ONE THAT KILLED THEM, HE TOOK MY EVERYTHING!
YOU EXPECT ME TO REMAIN STILL AFTER KNOWING THIS, SHIN?”

“I would have stood by your side at least and we could have asked for help!”

“Hahaha,
“Don′t you realize that everybody hates me, I was always alone…but you stood by my side until the end Shin.
But now I will be able to meet them, and I thank you for that Shin.
“What a heartfelt story this is, this dwarf seems to know what true despair is already.
I only came here to teach it to the ones that didn′t know despair, so I guess I don′t need him anymore.”
“NOOOO, DON′T DO IT, IF YOU DO I WILL-“
“You can′t do anything, you are useless trash that can′t even protect his friends.
Get swallowed by your despair at yourself for being useless.”
He turned toward Thorin, stretching out his hand.
Thorin looked my way and muttered, “Thank you for being the only one that helped me and sorry for dragging you into this…”
“NOOOOOOO”
It was as if Time had stopped, I am not able to do anything again.
I′m truly useless.
A blast of shadow came out of Omens hands, that ripped Thorin’s body apart.
…
Why?
“Why can′t I always do anything, why am I so useless?”
“JUST WHY???”
Someone walked up to me, as he muttered into my ears, while holding out his hands before my eyes.
“What do you think little Boy?
It was the clown.
He opened his palm.
“HAhahahahahahah, This is what happened to your buddy, he remains just a piece of flesh, he was truly pathetic!”
“Searching 100 years for his family only to find out they are already long dead, hahahaha.”
“He thought he had a chance to beat us but was even unable to leave a scratch on us.”
“And when he said,”Oh, I will finally be able to meet them,” hhahaha”
“What do you mean?”
“Even if there is something like a heaven he will never get there, his soul is trapped in the shadows for eternity, suffering, the clown laughed at me….”
“….”
Tears began flowing out of my eyes.
“Oh no, are you going to cry now?”
“Wait the tears are black? You clown is this?”

“It seems your dear brother is about to awaken Omen.”
“Finally, it is time for us to meet again, brother, god of the Abyss!”
The Abyss started bursting out of me, my Eyes had turned completely black, my Hands and feet covered in Abyss creating an armor, the Abyss on my arms and foot started forming to that of a beast, crawls sharper that a sword.
The Abyss in my Eyes started covering my face, creating a mask out of Abyss.
A wide stretched mouth and eyes just as wide, two horns growing out of my forehead.
The whole area was covered with the Abyss, that only continued to grow.
“The look of a true Monster, it seems like you are starting to resemble my brother a little bit.”
“But you weren′t able to even awaken a portion of his powers….”
“I thought you would be able to do at least this but….”
“Kill him”
“HAhHA with pleasure.”
I lost all my senses.
Something had taken over me.
But I didn′t care….
And it only kept on getting stronger…
“KRAAGHAGAHGH”, a cry of a true beast.
The shadows binding me were absorbed by the Abyss.
And I dashed by the clown, as I punched him out of my way.
“KRAGAGGHHHHHh”
As my crawls were about to reach omen, he simply stretched out his hand.
That was all it took to stop me.
Cough….
Something had pierced through my body.
A big hole on my stomach.
My senses started fading away.
“Omen let′s leave here!”
“HAaaaa..”
Cough… Not even a word was even able to leave my mouth.
The both of them stepped through the shadow and disappeared into nothingness.
…
And faded away.
Time flow by in an instance, four seasons had already passed by.
…
“Hey, should we really be here? Isn′t this the place that got destroyed by shadows one year ago?”
“Nobody is even here what should happen?”
“Huh, what is this? There is something underneath here. I bumped against It with by foot.?
Can you help me remove this pile of rubble?”
“Yeah, I will help!”
“What there is a person underneath here.”
Both backed away in shock and fear.
“Oh it′s just a corpse...”
They saw the back of a humanlike creature.
“But shouldn′t a corpse from a year along be a pile of bones by now? Check if he has any pulse.”
“There is not why he has,” he slowly reach towards his neck to check if he has any heartbeat.
“As I said he isn′t- …..
He has a puls...he is still alive…”
