“Remember what I told you.” Sabrina reiterated as we stood in front of the throne room.
“Yes, ma’am.” Tears were still falling down my face as she reached for the doors. I quickly wiped them away as she opened them and composed myself.
“Ah, Sabrina.” The King stood from his throne with a smile. “You’re finally here.”
Wait a second… I recognized him.
“Old man?!” I exclaimed as I pointed at him in disbelief.
“Sion!”
“Kerblagh!” Sabrina smacked the back of my head, slamming me into the ground.
“I’m so sorry about that, Your Majesty. I swear I taught him proper manners on the way here. He’s just stubborn!” She yanked me by my ear until I was on my feet.
“Owowow!” I cried. “Let go! It hurts! It hurts!”
“Hahahaha!” The King guffawed. “I’m glad to see you’re alright,” the King smiled at me. “How’s the Prostetian Kingdom treating you?”
“Huh?” Sabrina let me go, a puzzled look on her face.
I didn’t blame her. Even I couldn’t have expected to know the King. What were the chances that he was the same old man who had given me a ride to the capital when I first arrived? I thought he was a tutorial NPC and that I’d never see him again. I never would have expected him to be the King.
“It’s got its ups and downs,” I rubbed my ear with a grumble while glaring at Sabrina.
“You two know each other?” Sabrina asked.
“Sort of,” I replied. “The old man gave me a ride to the capital when I first arrived in this…Kingdom.”
NICE S-
“Agh!” Sabrina sucker punched me in the gut.
“Manners!” She spat at me, her fangs showing.
“So…rry.”
“Hahahaha!” The King laughed again. “It is all right, Sabrina.” He reassured. “The young lad and I got pretty close on the carriage ride.”
“Did…we?”
“I even gave him a thousand gold coins upon his arrival.” He looked to Nia who had been fawning over all the jars, paintings, and rugs. It was clear she had never seen anything as fancy as that. I did. In anime, of course, but the cliché stook. Colors of red, gold, purple, and white were everywhere. “It’s a shame he used it to purchase a Beastkin slave.” Nia stiffened at his words.
“Watch your tongue.” My eyes gleamed an ominous yellow as I bore my teeth at the King. His eyes smiled with him.
“Sion!”
“Blagh!” I was slammed back to the floor.
“She’s a beautiful girl, I’m not judging you.”
“Beautiful?” Nia blushed, and her throat vibrated in a purr as she smiled happily. I was too busy arguing with Sabrina to say anything back.
“Stop that, damnit!”
“Then address him with the respect he deserves! What the hell were you thinking using that ability on him?”
“Ability?” I shook my head. “Respect?” I slammed my forehead into Sabrina’s. “He doesn’t deserve respect! He demands it. He's nothing but a lazy King who sends soldiers and adventurers to their deaths upon hearing of a war or greater threat. He's nothing special. He's just a favoritized bloodline! He’s no different than the homeless and hungry peasants who roam the streets. They all have the same colored blood. They’re all humans. He’s just treated in higher regard because of his birth. It's bullshit!”
“I understand your frustration and anger,” the King commented. “I’ve told you, though, that things here are much different than in the south where you hail from. I am not like that King.”
“You’re from the Soutoria Empire?” Sabrina’s eyes widened. “That explains your low Mana output.”
It does?
“Master, you're from the south?” Nia grabbed my hand and turned me around. “I knyew something was different about you by your smell.”
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
“I-I don’t understand.” I smiled meekly.
“It also explains why your blood tastes so good,” Sabrina mumbled.
I’m so lost right now.
“You’re a half-breed!” Nia chirped.
“Hey! Don’t start that shit! Sabrina degrades me enough as is.”
“You know they don’t like being called that,” Sabrina frowned at Nia. “They call themselves Demi-Humans. A mix of Human and Beastkin.”
Demi-Human. I closed my eyes. I like the sound of that. But if that were true. I opened my status menu. Wouldn’t it say?

“My Master,” Nia chirped and meowed. “My Myaster is Demi-Human.” She purred loudly. “That makes so much more sense, nya!”
SHE'S TOO CUTE!!!
“That’s why he looks at me like that, nya! That’s why he smelled so good when I first met him, nya! That’s why,” her eyes locked with mine. “I will bear his children.”
Why did she suddenly go serious!?
I cleared my throat so my voice wouldn’t crack as it spoke. “Not like him, huh?”
“I gave you money, didn’t I?”
“So?”
“And exactly how many homeless and hungry have you seen?”
“I…” Now that he mentions it, none.
“The answer is none. I don’t collect taxes from my people but rather implement tariffs on the goods outside the kingdom upon their arrival inside. It makes things from the outside a bit more expensive, but I still make it fair to the people. I allow loans on houses that people pay monthly, rather than requiring them to purchase it in full.”
“So, you’re a democracy that has a King?” I mumbled. “If you allowed elections, you’d be more of a president than a King.” I sighed. “Whatever. Why’d you call us here? I hope you didn’t find out I was Sabrina’s Successor and called us to collect payment for what you gave me before. If you did, sorry to say, but I’m broke.” I shrugged.
“Damnit, Sion!” Sabrina reached for me, but I twirled around her arm behind her.
“Nope!”
“Ya!” She squeaked as I slapped her ass.
Oh? That’s a new sound.
“D-Don’t do that…” She looked back at me, her eyes watering and cheeks flushed.
A switch! She’s a switch! I hit the jackpot!
