“There are probably around 10 people on earth at the moment that could deal with models above the fifties in ideal situations. This was not an ideal situation.”
– Rosaline ‘Miraculous Miracle’ Santos, after surviving the 2057 Great Amazon Rainforest Genocide during the global incursion.
There are three things that I started loving about using points to buy alien stuff.
The first is that it’s quick and easy to do, barely taking a moment for the requested item to arrive.
The second is the broad number of options, which makes sure that you always have the ideal item to deal with any situation. As long as you have enough points for it I mean.
And the third is one that's being really useful right now, which would be the ability to just instantly equip it right after you buy it.
Careful, you’re on the path to hit a tree.
As I turn to jump in another direction, I take a peek at the colossal body that is covering almost all sunlight. I bet you could see it even if you were on top of the tree canopy.
“How big is that bitch? It looks like it covers close to the whole forest!”
You’re quite lucky your accommodations were in the outer layer of the jungle. Even with the low speed, more experienced samurai would still find it incredibly difficult to escape in time before their being crushed by its weight.
Speeding up my pace, I try to not think too deeply about that. I also start thanking whatever goddess is watching me for how useful this jumpsuit is.
The actual fit is kinda mid, it looks like an exoskeleton that covers the outside of my legs until around my underboob area, then reaching up to tie around my shoulders. The bodysuit is quite form-fitting, but loose enough to not feel uncomfortable. That’s when it starts going into the good parts.
I absolutely do not understand how any of this works, but I’m assuming it works just like frogs actually used to jump a few decades ago! This suit gives me kind of an artificial iliosacral joint, and in addition to various coils and probably alien mechanisms, it allows me to jump up to 17 meters in height! At a quite fast speed even, of around 12.3 meters per second!
I swear I’ll kiss whomever created this beauty…
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
I don’t think any of the Anuarana would be quite kissable. They were all pretty slimy and rough, as weird as that combination sounds, before they went extinct.
“My first kiss was with a female Hyalinobatrachium fleischmanni, I really am not that picky.”
I always love learning that my samurai has incredibly exotic tastes.
Hmph.
“Frogs are cute, okay? Also I do have a normal human girlfriend.”
As far as I have seen, that same girlfriend is one that lives in New Zeland, and you two haven’t actually physically interacted with each other for over three years.
“Doesn’t make me love her any less. Your point?”
There’s an antithesis 7 meters under you.
Naia’s words immediately make me pause, as I jump to another tree and stare down at the darkness under me.
Should I go investigate? It sure would be nice to get some points, and it’s better than just ignoring it I think?
Deciding to at least check what’s going on, I slowly climb down until I see a huge alien laying down beside the same tree I was standing a few seconds ago, practically immobile.
Fortune seems to be smiling towards you, Toadelle. This seems to be a dying model 22. It is in no condition to seriously attack you anymore, you should take this opportunity to get some extra points so that you may acquire more appropriate equipment.
Still a little unsure, I break a small twig from where I’m standing and throw it at the xeno, surprised to see that it actually continued being immobile.
“Meh, I guess the bigger the risk, the larger the reward too."
I carefully jumped down from the branch, still marveling about the stability that this suit gave me even in landing, before stepping a little closer to the big boy over there.
“Frogs are way cuter than this little shit.”
No doubts about that. How do you plan on going about to kill it?
That’s the neat part, I don’t.
I thought I was the one making bad quotes…
Ignoring the dumb AI, I start planning.
“Say, how much do you think it’d take for the xeno to die?”
It shouldn’t be much, I’m pretty sure that any decent damage you manage to deal would be enough. The only thing is that you don’t have enough points to buy something like that.
“Naia, please buy me a good axe.”
You do not have enough points to buy a new catalogue, so would you agree with a Class 0 - Sturdy Emergency Axe for all of your 5 remaining points?
“Sure, sounds good enough.”
Purchased - Sturdy Emergency Axe - 5 points
Points remaining 0
A box soon appears by my feet, before I open it and pick up my new axe with both of my hands.
“Time to fell some trees!”
With all the strength I can muster, axe meets tree and tree meets axe, causing a slight cut to appear on the wood.
This is gonna take a while isn’t it?
If you continue with this strength, it should take around 10 minutes.
“Imma be honest, I don’t think we have that much time.” I say as I take another glance above the trees, the giant model slowly but surely going down at us.
You will have to think about something else then. We can always run now and find easier models to kill later.
“No no, I can do it. Think, think, think…”
Oh, maybe this might work.
I prepare myself and crouch down, and as I jump towards the tree, I swing my axe so that my momentum can carry over and give me just a little bit more strength.
And it works.
The axe clearly cut quite a bit deeper than before.
Just gotta repeat that a few more dozen times now.
