Chapter 10,

After a month I finally had the courage to write my parents and let them know of all the love and kindness that was given to me and how happy I was to be the grand duchess, Belle promised to have it delivered by two days and for the first time I felt like maybe my life could be as happy as I was promised in my fairy tales and my mother's stories. I left the castle more and more and began to learn the names of the nobles and the people who worked within the castle and my Edwin though he was always busy he made time for me which I had begun to understand that for him this was his own worry to become like his father which I told him many times that he would never have to worry about such a thing.

For four days I was without Belle which was hard but not as hard as Aaron was taking it for I learned from some of the maids that they were in love even though Belle's father had forbidden them to wed, which gave me the most wonderful idea to thank dear Belle for all she had done for me. I told Edwin who nodded solemnly, “You know that you will make an enemy of Belle's father. For he forbid it because Lord Aaron's father was unable to protect his wife leaving him quite alone in the world.” “But that is on Lord Aaron's father not him.” Edwin nodded, “I know but still think about what you gain and what you could loose before you do this. But I will stand beside you as this would be your first big decision for you.” I took all four days thinking that for dear Belle it was worth it.

As Belle returned with two letters one from my father and the other from my mother, she warned me that Delilah had written me and wanted to know if I wished it destroyed. Cold fear set in, but I took all the courage I had and nodded. Belle smiled which was when I handed her my decree and after reading about how she would be able to marry her love Belle leaped onto me and kissing my cheeks yelled, “Oh my lady! Thank you, thank you and thank you!” Before I could say anything, she gave me my letters and fled to see Aaron.

Going into my chambers I read my father's letter first only to find that he had adopted my cousin to be the next king and he planned on retiring within ten years to come and be with me so that he and mother could be with me again. My mother's letter had tear marks and though it was hard to read, my mother was not doing well after my departure feeling as if she had failed me as a mother for letting me go but happy that I was happy. I did not know what to think other then that I had to warn Edwin that within ten years my family would be coming to stay.
