Chapter 2: Little Star

In the previous chapter, the family traveled to the city to sell their goods and purchase food. The young girl, captivated by a mysterious tent, had wandered toward it, watching as happy children eagerly entered. She was curious to see what lay inside but was stopped by a guard at the entrance. Fortunately, her uncle had been following her. He purchased a ticket, allowing them to enter.

Inside, she sat on the floor, wide-eyed, as the performance began. The lights dimmed, revealing a tiny bird at the center of the stage. Though she heard no sound, she could see the wonder and joy on the faces of the children around her.

She focused intently as the small bird suddenly transformed—its form expanding into a majestic phoenix. It soared gracefully around the tent before fading into the darkness. A hush fell over the crowd. Then, from the center of the stage, tiny golden particles swirled together, forming an egg. With a sudden burst, the egg cracked open, releasing a cloud of shimmering dust that drifted through the air. From within, delicate butterflies emerged, glowing like fireflies, casting an enchanting orange hue across the tent.

As she admired the display, she noticed something unusual. A tiny golem had entered the tent.

Its head was large and lumpy, with stubby arms, no bigger than a pencil. It walked toward the stage but suddenly paused and turned to look at her. Slowly, it approached and extended a tiny flower toward her. She hesitated before reaching out to take it. The golem waved its tiny hand before stiffly marching toward the stage.

The other children didn’t seem to notice it at first. It climbed onto the stage, bouncing a few times before more golems entered—some large, some small, all with unique shapes. They began leaping toward one another, fusing together until they formed a towering figure. With a final jump, the golem transformed into a massive wolf.

The wolf leaped into the crowd, gently lifting a child onto its back before dashing around the tent. At first, the child seemed startled, but soon, laughter filled their face. More children reached out, wanting to join in, but their attention was drawn elsewhere.

The performer raised a large staff, its tip resembling a bubble wand. With a single breath, he blew a massive bubble. He touched it lightly, and in an instant, the bubble exploded into a school of glowing fish that swam through the air. Another bubble appeared, but this time, it transformed into a giant whale, gracefully floating above them.

  The girl was mesmerized.

Then, something fluttered nearby. A glowing butterfly drifted toward her. She reached out to touch it—but before she could, it spun around.

  Her eyes widened.

It wasn’t a butterfly at all—it was a tiny girl with wings.

  "AHHHH!!!" the tiny girl shrieked.

Startled, the child fell backward. Before she could hit the ground, the wolf swooped in, catching her gently on its back before continuing its playful run with the other children.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" the tiny girl repeated in a panic, though the child couldn't understand her words.

The tiny girl hovered closer, studying her curiously. Then, realization dawned.

"Wait… Can you see me?" she asked.

The girl squinted, hugging her bunny tighter.

"Is that a yes? Or am I just imagining things?" The fairy frowned, deep in thought. When the girl didn’t respond, the tiny creature sighed, "Never mind then…" and turned to leave.

But before she could fly away, the girl reached out and pinched her wing.

"AH!" the fairy yelped. She twisted in the air, clutching her wing. Then, her expression shifted to excitement.

"Wait, wait, wait—you can touch me?! That means you can actually see me!" She flew circles around the girl, her tiny eyes sparkling with curiosity. "How? How can you see me? How did you even notice me? And—wait! What are you? A human? An elf? Half-elf? An orc? A DRAGON?"

The girl simply stared at her, tilting her head while clutching her bunny.

The fairy’s excitement wavered. "Uhh… okay then… anyway, my name is Julia! I’m a fairy! Most people can’t see me, only those who are—"

"Julia! What are you doing?" a voice boomed.

  It was the wolf.

"Oh! Uh—never mind! We’ll talk later!" Julia exclaimed before zipping toward the wolf. She whispered something in its ear.

The wolf's eyes widened in delight. "OHHH!!! Let me transform!"

The girl watched as the wolf's body began to shift again. Its nose and limbs grew larger, its feet changed shape, and its body expanded until it no longer fit inside the tent. The performer on stage panicked, trying to keep control of the situation. While he managed to gather the children to safety, he failed to notice one thing—our little protagonist was still there.

The tent lifted into the sky.

The wolf’s transformation continued. Its ears stretched and changed, resembling butterfly wings—only much larger. With a mighty trumpeting sound, the wolf completed its transformation into a grand, magnificent elephant.

The children, once hiding behind the performer, now eagerly raised their hands, wanting to ride the creature. The elephant’s trunk wrapped around the girl, lifting her gently onto its back.

  Then, the magic truly began.

Bubbles formed, splitting into smaller, glistening spheres. Some turned into fish, swimming through the air. The phoenix soared above them, painting fiery trails across the sky. The girl reached out, popping bubbles one by one, giggling with delight. Each burst sent tiny sparks fluttering around her.

She stood up, raising her arms toward the sky as the bubbles danced around her. She was radiant—her joy was infectious. The magic of the performance was undeniable, but all eyes were on her.

The little girl, lost in the wonder of the moment, had become the star of the show.
