Chapter 10: The Agent
“Relax, everyone. I’ll handle it from here.” Agent Cage said to the group.
“Who are you?” Luke asked.
“I’m the guy who doesn’t exist. I’m like the James Bond of… Yeah, like James Bond.” Agent Cage said he was quite drunk. He flashed his badge for a half second and then stepped over the alien. “I’m just going to inspect the crash.” Agent Cage did a long burp.
“There’s another one of these things,” Officer Bronson shouted at the Agent.
Cage dialed a number on his phone and started talking to the operator.
“Yep, it's Code Green. It’s real, send in the helicopters. It’s a Class Five species. It’s currently dead in the parking lot.” Harry said into the phone. He waited for a response. “Six hours?” Harry mumbled. “I’m just saying, like, this thing is huge. Six hours seems slow.” Harry waited for a response. “Can’t you put an immediate order in?” Harry waited. “Non urgent?” He scoffed. “I’m standing here looking at a twelve foot tall monster from Mars and you’re telling me it’s not urgent. I haven’t seen the spaceship yet. I’m walking to it right now.” Harry listened to the woman’s response and was upset by her tone.
The teenagers watched Harry walk into the theme park alone. The police officers started to surround the alien’s body with crime tape, bollards and tarps. The short alien stood by the teenagers. He held his gun ready and looked at the bushes.
Luke tried to start his car. It wouldn’t start. It was dented, but it might have just been the radiator and front headlight that broke. The pickup was quite sturdy. Maybe it could be repaired, but it would take a few weeks.
Eventually he gave up and Brian and Troy decided to run to Brian’s car. They left the parking lot behind them. Brian brought his car to the front of the gates.
They saw the small sedan and everyone started to pile in.
The agent came across the crash site and whistled. The spaceship was massive compared to the agent.
“Big one.” He said. He took some photos and then he took a selfie.
While he was looking at his selfie reel, a shadow fell over him.
From the parking lot, the teenager could hear the agent cry out in agony.
The short gray alien rushed to the crash site and found the man’s brown leather shoe and a 5 pack of beers. The cans had split and were gently leaking onto the concrete.
The short alien was pissed off. He also noticed his turtle device had been damaged beyond repair.
He looked back inside the cockpit and noticed his friend had been eaten, the chairs were covered in alien blood.
The police officers left the kids alone in the parking lot. They both grabbed their pistols.
Luke walked to the officer’s trunk and looked inside. There was a bag. Luke looked at the police and they were distracted. They had ventured into the park. Luke opened the bag and saw two shotguns and boxes of ammunition.
He gasped, and he checked to see if it was loaded. It was. Luke put two handfuls of ammo into his black skinny jean pockets and walked into the park.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“What the fuck is he doing?” Brian cursed. He stopped his car and they waited. Matt got out of the car and grabbed the other shotgun. Troy got out and went looking in the trunk for more weapons. He found two tasers. He gave one to Kayla and kept the other.
Matt and Troy went in after Luke.
Elise, Michael, Kayla and Brian cursed. They were sitting in Brian’s car. Brian started his car and rolled over the front footpath. He started rolling slowly into the park, he turned his headlights on. Luckily his sedan had a quiet, fuel efficient engine. Goosebumps filled Brian’s body as he drove his car down the dark streets of Thunder Park.
Troy and Matt saw the lights of the car and felt a lot safer.
Troy arrived next to Luke, and Luke handed him the shotgun. Luke pulled out the silver alien rifle from his bag.
They saw the police officers wandering the area around the food court. Brian parked his car and started turning it around to face the entrance. He put the car into park and then got out, but left it running with the lights on. Michael got out of the car and Troy passed him the taser.
“Thanks, I guess I’ll tickle it to death.” He said sarcastically.
“Better than nothing,” Troy said, shrugging.
Everyone heard a commotion, it sounded like pots and pans falling. It came from the food court. The police officers entered the outdoor seating area and looked around.
The sounds came from the kitchens. Cola sponsor signs from the 80s covered every surface of the kitchen walls. The teenagers walked inside from a different entrance and the cops saw the guns in the hands of the kids.
Officer Bronson shrugged and was glad for the help. He saw the roller door over the counter rattle. Officer Bronson shot the lock at the bottom and the door’s spring’s pulled the door open.
The monster jumped out and dove for the first human it saw.
Officer Ryan screamed and shot his pistol. The monster swallowed his head and bit down. He ripped the head and shoulder of the policeman clean off and swallowed the flesh like a pelican. It stood up tall on two legs. It towered above everyone.
Everyone fired their guns at the beast. It started shrieking in pain. It slashed the other officer across the chest and picked him up. The creature tossed him into a closed garage door and the officer dented it and fell to the floor, very far from his pistol.
Luke shot the creature and jumped into a roll to evade its stampede towards him.
Matt shot the creature in the neck from close quarters and a large piece of flesh fell to the floor. The creature screamed in agony and then kicked like a horse. It kicked Matthew in the chest and Matt flew across the room and hit a table awkwardly, breaking his neck.
Troy shot at it with his shotgun and the creature bit him on the shoulder and tried to rip his arm out. Troy shot it from close quarters and the bullets went straight through the creature’s chest and painted the walls of the food court.
The creature let go and started running away into the park.
The short alien appeared and then rushed after it, alone.
The police officer broke down crying next to his dead partner.
Luke, Brian, Adam and Michael wandered over to Matthew. He was dead.
His chest was bleeding from the monster’s claws. They heard Troy coughing.
Brian and Adam ran to his side while Luke hugged Matt. Michael said a prayer and they grabbed the shotgun Matt dropped.
They put Troy into Brian’s passenger seat and folded it backwards. Kayla started kissing Troy’s forehead from the backseat. Luke remembered the healing device the alien had used earlier.
He reloaded his rifle.
“I’m going to get the healing device from the spaceship’s medical bay. I know what it looks like.” He said. Michael didn’t stop him, he just put his hand on his shoulder with tears in his eyes. Brian got into the car and drove some people to the parking lot, some of them walked.
They stood by the entrance, waiting for Luke to appear. The officer appeared and grabbed a different bag from the trunk. There were a large number of gun attachments. The police officer put his pistol into a stock, and added a scope and a foregrip. The pistol now resembled a rifle. He did the same thing to his partner's pistol. He also had extended clips.
The officer wanted a shotgun so he handed one of the homemade rifles to Brian and another one to Adam. Michael was handed the other shotgun and Elise and Kayla had stun guns.
They waited for Luke to arrive.
