“If you haven’t already guessed from the title of today’s livestream, I’m here to interview residents of Johto’s hottest city at the moment! I’m sure most of them are probably die-hard fans of Fairies and the local Cherrygrove Gym, but we’ll see if we can get through to their hearts. Mission Get People To Like Bidoof More Than Fairies: start— uh…”
[Narita pauses mid-sentence and trails off. His grip on his camera loosens, and the device is tilted downwards so all viewers see is the concrete sidewalk.]

[An audible gulping sound echoes before the camera is shakily brought back up. Narita holds it high, high above his head so viewers can see into the far distance. Up in the sky, a gigantic, glowing orb shines rays of moonlight down. The sky in the distance looks like night has fallen over a portion of the city.]
“A-Are you guys seeing this?” Narita stammers, clearly flustered even though his face isn’t visible. “I don’t know if you can tell on camera or not, but it’s like—like it’s nighttime over there! There’s a freaking moon in the sky! It’s weird because I see the sun is still up there and the bright blue sky around it, but I’m just standing here blinking and it looks, um, seamless? I don’t know how to describe it, but it looks like it’s ACTUALLY night and not like boxed in from a Pokemon move or something…”
[He rambles on in long, fragmented sentences that only make partial sense, but the live chat has already lost it.]

[The handheld camera’s view shakes wildly as it’s jostled around from running. Eventually, Narita comes huffing and puffing to a halt. The camera steadies again. He holds it up once more, and the viewers see that part of the street is submerged in nightfall. Narita tentatively reaches out with a finger, but his finger gets stuck midair like it can’t get past an invisible boundary separating day and night.]
“You guys see this?! There’s no wall here or barrier or anything, but from like… this side of the city onward, it looks like it’s nighttime over there! I can’t reach out to the other side. Arceus, this is mad weird…”

We’re fine. I’m glued in front of the TV right now, but the incidents seemed to have been contained and dealt with pretty fast. I live in Cerulean and nobody got hurt over here. Lily and the youngest Waterflower sister, Misty, basically isolated the entire river with their teams! It was like getting to see one of their famous water performance shows for free! (Minus the, uh, waters that were dyed a suspicious red from afar.)

Definitely. *ahem* I mean, look at what happened in Cherrygrove City. You can even check Chatter for eyewitness reports, but apparently drugged Pokemon were at their city’s beach. too. No locals got hurt thanks to lifeguards and Rangers on active duty, but they got a blurry photo of Arin’s Pokemon shredding the sea. Here, I’ll even send a pic.

You know, I’m pretty glad that photo’s so blurry. Can’t see what exactly is floating atop those waters, but I have a darn good guess. Hint: they used to be alive.
Real talk though, as sad as it is, I’m glad those Pokemon were put out of their misery. I know we discussed this last year when that gang smuggling Pokemon and drugs in Hoenn was caught by Top Ranger Touya Isagi and carted off to prison, but Pokemon drugs are seriously despicable. Some of those photos floating around the Pokebet are really depressing…

To summarize: Arin and Lance tag teamed Team Rocket. Giant moon bigger than Giovanni’s mansion went BOOP, dropped low, sucked all Team Rocket members and their drugged Pokemon into it like a black hole, and then carried them out of the city where they disappeared from view.
The finale was the biggest fireworks show you’ll ever see out by the mountains far away. Lance and Arin probably went to town once they secured people’s safety and gained enough distance.

I’m not here to talk about politics or the string of incidents that unfolded in Indigo this morning. There’s a different section on this site for that. No, I’m here strictly to discuss the prospects of challenging the Cherrygrove Gym this fall. With only a month and a half to go, most people are busy training or otherwise getting ready for the next Johto League Circuit. I had plans to challenge the Cherrygrove Gym near the end of my League Circuit run, but I’ve since changed my mind because of a certain EVENT that occurred this morning in Cherrygrove City. Not sure how I feel about handling a Pokemon type that’s capable of warping reality with their beliefs. Thoughts?

Cowards! Wimps! What separates the best trainers from the average bunch is their willingness to go the extra mile and push themselves! The strongest trainers are those who overcome great trials. Just look at any Gym Leader or Elite Four in the world. All of them didn’t take the easy way out during their own League Circuit runs.

Yeah, and to add onto Evangeline Shizana’s post, why would you make things boring for yourself? Like yeah, sure, everyone wants to get to the Conference, become famous, and strike it rich. But for me personally, the journey is more important. Why would I waste a year of my life NOT having fun? That’s the whole point, isn’t it? To push your limits and get stronger?

[Simultaneous incidents across Indigo and the League’s response.]

UPDATED 11:40 AM | Reports in, low casualties confirmed.
Reports and eyewitness reports came in swiftly one after another as incidents occurred in major cities across Indigo. Previously, the Indigo League released a statement regarding drugged Pokemon being used by the criminal organization known as Team Rocket. They warned people to look out for Pokemon exhibiting unnatural symptoms such as red, bloodshot eyes and sickly skin, but none had been encountered by Indigo citizens until now. Things changed this morning.
In Olivine, drugged Pokemon were spotted emerging from the seas having powered through barricades and Rangers patrolling the seas. Similarly, locals reported seeing Pokemon show up on Cherrygrove’s beach and routes and the river by Cerulean City in Kanto. In addition to these drugged Pokemon, a wave of civilian protests swept through Blackthorn City and eventually turned violent as protestors lobbed objects at the Blackthorn Gym and Blackthorn Clan’s main estate. The protests took a turn for the worse when people sent out Pokemon and started rampaging on the streets, later confirmed by the Indigo League to be Team Rocket operatives who infiltrated the crowd.
Fortunately, all incidents were quickly contained by their respective Gym Leaders. Gym Leaders from other cities and towns across Indigo additionally arrived on scene to help resolve conflicts in Olivine and Cerulean. At the time of writing this article, overall casualties were kept to less than one hundred in total for humans and Pokemon alike across all three cities. No civilians died. Response from the public has been mostly positive so far regarding the League’s swift action, but there are also criticisms for allowing these incidents to occur in the first place. The Indigo League has released a statement on their website regarding today’s events.

I won’t say I’m one hundred percent happy about the situation either, but think about the positives. They contained the situations quickly and without any citizens dying. That’s already something to be grateful for. Plus, you can’t really expect governments or Leagues to be PERFECT all the time, right? They ain’t gods. They’re human like the rest of us and trying their best to keep us safe.

Johto Forever ain’t wrong. They killed people I loved in the Rocket War. My best friend died. So did my sister’s husband and his Pokemon when they helped defend Vermilion City. LEAGUE HQ, UNOVA — The Situation Room
Every regional League’s HQ building had different layouts but similar rooms with similar functions. The Unova League was no different.
In the West Wing, there was a place they called the Situation Room. Contrary to whatever expectations its name inspired, it wasn’t actually a single room but a whole operations suite that consisted of multiple conference rooms and a giant watch station. There, officials were posted on duty twenty four seven to observe the state of the country. Impressive monitors and holographic screens on the walls displayed realtime videos, satellite and sonar images, numerical data, and other relevant data about important locations scattered throughout Unova.
In addition to the usual intelligence officers currently working their shifts, there was one other person in the room today. A young woman with a small, round face sat in front of a particularly large monitor where a news reporter talked about ongoing events in Indigo and showed a picture of day turning into night over in Cherrygrove City. A small army of Porygon had laboriously hacked into Indigo channels to watch their broadcasts, but that was nothing new. Every country kept a close watch on each other.
The teenager was hunched over a small notebook laid flat on the table. Dark strands of hair fell carelessly around her as she wrote furiously with a pink pen.

“SHAUNTAL!” a male voice suddenly yelled. “Come on! I know you’re new around here, but you can’t slack off! We need to train the latest batch of League Trainer recruits.”
“Right! Sorry, Marshal, I’m coming now!”
Flustered, Shauntal Soma shot to her feet and hurried out the door. She remembered to take her pen with her, but she forgot her notebook in her rush.
There on the table, the still open notebook was laid bare for the world to see.
The pages were full of scribbled notes, but the bottom corner of the page seemed particularly important. Title Ideas was written in bold.
There were words circled three times over under it.

I think I’ll call it Where The Moon Rises.
Little Interlude to tie into next chapter’s aftermath as well as follow up on the events of last chapter.
