The sun was already setting by the time they reached the garrison.
Without any detours, they headed straight for Funo’s office.
Just as they arrived at the door, they heard voices from inside.
They immediately recognized one of them—
It was the Calculator.
Even though they had come straight from their encounter with him, somehow, he had arrived before them.
They had thought he was on his own mission, yet here he was.
Then, suddenly, they heard Funo shouting.
That was all the excuse they needed—they decided to just walk in.
As they entered, both men looked up at them.
For a brief moment, they saw a glimpse of relief and joy on Funo’s face.
"As you can see, my people need me.
So, I’ll have to deal with your request later."
The Calculator grunted and stormed off, irritated.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
With a look of pure disdain, he walked past San and the others, then slammed the door shut behind him.
They all flinched at the sound.
"Phew!
Well done!
You got me out of that mess.
I have no idea why that crazy lunatic always has to come to me whenever he has a problem."
‘Because you’re the boss,’ they all thought at the same time.
"Ah, whatever.
For now, let’s focus.
It’s time for your first mission!"
He clapped his hands together, getting straight to business.
"You may have already heard the news on the streets—
yesterday, there was a break-in at the museum!"
They all nodded, already aware of this.
"As you probably know, this is the first break-in we’ve had in years—
since the King of the North attempted his robbery!
So, naturally, everyone is on edge and running wild."
That was an understatement.
Ever since they re-entered the garrison, they had noticed how chaotic everything was.
Every available soldier was rushing around, preparing for an all-night citywide search for the intruder.
"The first time in years that we’ve had a problem, and it has to be THIS!
And to top it all off—
HE DIDN’T EVEN STEAL ANYTHING!
HA!
This guy is just testing himself, seeing if he can do it!
...
I want that bastard standing right here in my office by the time the first rays of the sun hit the horizon!
DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?!"
"YES, SIR!"
"Good!
You’ll be patrolling the museum tonight!
I doubt he’ll be dumb enough to break in twice,
but just in case—
I want you there!
Stay alert!
If you see him—
DON’T let him escape!
Now move!"
They saluted, then left the office.
Without hesitation, they rushed to their rooms to prepare.
As they put on their uniforms, San’s mind was racing.
Who would be foolish enough to break into the museum twice?
He couldn’t think of an answer.
And before he knew it—
They were already on their way back to the museum.
