138: The Martial God

  "The Martial God?"

"Who is that supposed to be?"

  "I'm getting to that now!"

A short, almost awkward silence followed.

  Munkan cleared his throat.

"The Martial God was the title given to the one who, through his actions, ended the Second War of the Lost.

  …

We don’t know much about him.

  To be honest...

we don’t even know how old he was!

What we do know is that he was first mentioned in the year 2277.

At the time, he participated in a battle between Eroden and Luvtan—as a mercenary.

He was described as an odd person, behaving as if he had witnessed violence for the first time in his life.

  …

After that, he was seen on the battlefields from time to time over the next three years, but he never gave off an impression of being particularly strong.

Then, three years later, reports emerged that he suddenly wielded three extremely powerful Nyds and began dominating battles.

From that point on, he only intervened in fights as much as necessary—to end them.

This continued for eight more years, until...

In the year 2291, he suddenly began killing everyone.

By then, battles were already becoming less frequent, but he actively sought them out, slaughtering anyone who crossed his path.

To this day, we still can’t explain why he had such a drastic change of heart.

Fearing that he might soon set his sights on their nations, the four great countries at the time formed an alliance to destroy him.

With their combined forces, they managed to defeat him.

His Nyds were split apart and distributed among the nations.

That moment of triumph was taken to heart, and the leaders signed a non-aggression pact, promising forty years of peace...

But, as we know, that promise was eventually broken, leading once again to war."

Munkan turned around and continued walking, saying nothing more.

The others followed him in silence.

  They approached another elevator.

As the doors closed, San had a question.

"What happened to the Nyds of the King of the North?"

Munkan paused briefly, but then answered without turning around.

  "He possessed six Nyds.

Three of them were cast into the sea, where his homeland once stood.

The other three were seized by the mercenaries.

As for what became of them...

  we have no idea."**

The elevator came to a stop.

As they stepped out, Munkan halted for a moment.

"What became of his power is of no consequence.

But what I am about to tell you now—is.

The legends and myths of the First War of the Lost—a war known only to scholars and historians!"
